Galaxy S23 One UI 6.1 update looks set to roll out from March 28!

[ad_1]

Samsung announced last month that the One UI 6.1 update would be made available to 2023 Galaxy flagships in March, and to stay true to its word, the company will have to move quickly as there’s less than a week left before we enter the month of April.

Last week, Samsung Korea revealed that the update would be released for the Galaxy S23 series on March 28. But we weren’t convinced because of how long it is taking for Samsung to bring One UI 6.1 to the masses compared to previous .1 updates.

However, March 28 may indeed be the day Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and S23 FE owners have been waiting for, as over the weekend, Samsung China sent a notification to its users that mentions the same date for the rollout.

Galaxy S23 One UI 6.1 update March 28

Samsung Korea also reiterated the date in a response to users on the Samsung community forums, and it also suggested that the Galaxy S23 FE would get the update on March 28 as well. The Fan Edition models don’t usually get updates at the same time as the non-FE models, but the One UI 6.1 update could be an exception.

Samsung will hopefully release the update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 on March 28 as well, though as we reminded our readers last week, One UI 6.1 may not go live in every country before the end of the Month. It could take all of April for the update to become available to users in every corner of the world.

How to Set Medication Reminders on Your Phone (2024): Best Apps, iPhone, Android, Samsung

[ad_1]

Medisafe offers short videos for most medications where a doctor describes the medication and explains possible side effects and other useful information. The app will even flag possible interactions if you are taking multiple medications. The free version is excellent, but you can get rid of ads and unlock some extra customization options with a subscription ($5/month or $40/year).

How to Set Reminders on an Android Phone

There are various ways you might set a medication reminder on an Android phone.

Use Google Assistant

The quickest and easiest way to set a reminder on your Android phone is to use Google Assistant. For example, you can say, “Hey Google, remind me to take my pill every day at 9 am.”

If you have a family group set up, you can also set reminders for other folks in your family by saying something like, “Hey Google, remind Jenny to take her pill every day at 8 pm.”

To review and tweak any reminders you have set, say, “Hey Google, show my reminders.”

Use Google Calendar

You could also set up medication reminders in Google Calendar. Open the Calendar app, select a day, tap the Plus icon, and choose Reminder. You can specify a time and tap where it says Does not repeat, then change to Every day or set another interval. When you are happy with the details, tap Save.

Use a Medication App

As we said above, of the many medication apps available for Android, our top pick is Medisafe’s Pill Reminder and Med Tracker. This slick app is the Android version of the iPhone app we recommend above, and it’s easy to set up and offers the same wealth of features. You can set reminders for multiple medications, track your consumption, set up refill alerts, track symptoms, and get warnings about possible interactions.

How to Set Reminders on a Samsung Phone

As well as the methods listed above for Android phones, Samsung offers excellent medication reminders in its Health app on Samsung phones. Here’s how to set them up:

  • Open the Health app, scroll down to the Medications section and tap on it.
  • Tap Add medication and start typing the name of your medication. You should see a list of suggestions pop up. If you can’t find yours, tap Add custom medication at the bottom.
  • Once you have selected your medication, you can select the type and strength. You can also identify the pill shape on the next screen.
  • Now it’s time to set your schedule. You can select the time and dosage required and the period to complete the course (if applicable).
  • The last screen allows you to review the schedule you have created and set a medication nickname and notes, if you want to. Hit Save if it all looks good.
  • The final screen warns you about potential interactions with other drugs or substances, such as alcohol. You can tap on possible interactions for further information on the risks.
  • Once added, you will see medications listed in the Health app via the Medications section with a timeline along the top and a log of what you must take each day. You can mark it off for that day by tapping Take.
  • Tap on any medication in the Your medications section to edit that record. You can also add your number of remaining pills and toggle on a Refill reminder.
  • When you’re done with a medication, tap on it under Your medications and tap the three vertical dots at the top right to Archive or Delete. You should use Archive if you want to retain a record of that medication and when you took it.
  • You can also share medication data by opening the Health app, tapping the Medications section, tapping the three vertical dots at the top right, and selecting Share medication list.

How to Set Up the iPhone’s Lockdown Mode

Lockdown Mode iPhone

Lockdown Mode on the iPhone represents a significant advancement in digital security protocols, meticulously crafted by Apple as an optional yet robust security feature. Its primary aim is to fortify the digital defenses of an exceptionally narrow margin of users, those who are most susceptible to the nefarious undertakings of highly advanced cyber threats. Such threats are not run-of-the-mill but are instead orchestrated with precision, often under the aegis of state-sponsored entities.

The individuals at risk from these sophisticated cyber incursions typically occupy high-visibility roles within society. They include, but are not limited to, investigative journalists who uncover truths that may ruffle feathers at the highest echelons, human rights activists who challenge oppressive regimes, and government officials who hold the keys to sensitive state secrets. These profiles, by virtue of their public standing and the sensitive nature of their work, become prime targets for these digitally executed espionage efforts. Lockdown Mode, therefore, emerges as a critical line of defense, offering an unparalleled level of security to shield these high-profile personas from the digital crosshairs of state-backed cyber operatives.

When should you consider Lockdown Mode?

Only consider using Lockdown Mode if you have a reasonable belief that you may be the direct target of sophisticated cyberattacks. Casual iPhone users have a very low risk of encountering attacks that Lockdown Mode is designed to counter.

Key Restrictions in Lockdown Mode

To provide strong protection, Lockdown Mode significantly limits certain iPhone functionalities:

  • Messages: Most message attachments (images, etc.) are blocked. Link previews are disabled.
  • Web Browsing: Complex web technologies (like Just-In-Time JavaScript compilation) are blocked, slowing down some websites or breaking them entirely.
  • Incoming Invitations and Service Requests: Invitations, such as Apple services and feature-sharing invites, are blocked, as well as wired connections to a computer when the iPhone is locked.
  • Configuration Profiles: Cannot be installed, preventing the iPhone from being managed by Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions.

How to Enable Lockdown Mode

  1. Make Sure You’re Updated: Lockdown Mode requires iOS 16 or later (also iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura). Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check.
  2. Locate the Setting: Open the Settings app. Navigate to Privacy & Security. Scroll down to find Lockdown Mode.
  3. Initiate Activation: Tap Turn On Lockdown Mode. Carefully read the descriptions of what Lockdown Mode does.
  4. Confirm and Restart: Tap Turn On & Restart. Your iPhone will restart with Lockdown Mode active.

How to Disable Lockdown Mode

  1. Go to Settings: Open the Settings app.
  2. Privacy & Security: Navigate to Privacy & Security.
  3. Lockdown Mode: Scroll down to find Lockdown Mode.
  4. Turn Off: Tap Turn Off Lockdown Mode.

Important Considerations

  • Impact on Performance and Functionality: Expect a trade-off between security and convenience. Some websites and features won’t work as expected.
  • Not a Silver Bullet: Even with Lockdown Mode, remain vigilant. It’s extremely protective, but not a guarantee against all possible cyberattacks.
  • Staying Updated: Apple will likely refine Lockdown Mode over time. Keep your iPhone updated with the latest software to maintain optimal protection.

Who Should Really Use Lockdown Mode?

Lockdown Mode is designed for those who may be at high risk of targeted attacks.

Most iPhone users won’t need this level of protection. If you are concerned, strong security basics will protect you from the vast majority of common cyberattacks:

  • Use Strong Passwords/Passcodes
  • Be Careful With Links and Attachments
  • Keep Your iPhone Updated

Summary

Lockdown Mode is a powerful tool for a very specific group of iPhone users. If you believe you could be the target of a sophisticated cyberattack, it offers an exceptional level of protection. However, for most people, the trade-offs in functionality outweigh the benefits. Focusing on strong security practices such as unique passwords, software updates, and caution with links remains the best defense against everyday cyber threats. You can find out more details about how to set up Lockdown Mode on your iPhone over at Apple’s website.
