Matter 1.3 Specification Adds Energy Reporting, Electric Vehicle Charging, Water Management Support and More

[ad_1]

The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) today announced the debut of a new Matter 1.3 specification that’s available for device makers and platforms. Matter is a smart home protocol that allows smart devices to work across multiple platforms, including HomeKit.

matter iot standard
Matter 1.3 adds support for a range of new device types and features, including water management devices, electric vehicle chargers, kitchen and laundry appliances, and TVs.

For smart plugs and other devices, the update includes energy management reporting, allowing users to see actual and estimated measurements of power, voltage, and current, both in-real time and over time. EV Charging manufacturers are able to include Matter-based features such as manually starting and stopping charging, adjusting charging rate, and optimizing charging times.

Water management devices like leak and freeze detectors, rain sensors, and controllable water valves are supported in Matter 1.3, as are several new appliance types including microwave ovens, ovens, cooktops, extractor hoods, and dryers.

For TVs, Matter 1.3 improves casting initialization and search, plus it adds support for push messages and dialog for ambient experiences, expanded interactivity for TV apps, and better interaction with other home devices.

Scenes are supported with the new specification, allowing product makers and platforms to set, read, and activate scenes on devices. Scenes for Matter work like ‌HomeKit‌ scenes, letting users set a desired state for rooms and devices with one command. Matter controllers are also now able to batch multiple commands into a single message when communicating with Matter devices for less delay between command execution.

Matter 1.3 devices and improvements will likely be available on the market later this year, with more information available on the CSA website.

This gadget promises to increase productivity inside your vehicle by converting ICE screens into displays — and even includes Samsung DeX compatibility for free

[ad_1]

Mayton Motion has developed a wireless adapter that transforms a car’s navigation screen into a functional laptop-like display. Users can access a range of new features by connecting the device via the car’s USB port.

AutoPro X is powered by Android Auto/Samsung DeX (it only works with Samsung Galaxy models that support DeX) and offers Bluetooth pairing, so users can connect game controllers, keyboards and other devices to the screen. This isn’t necessarily the greatest of ideas, since it could end up being a distraction for the driver, but we’d hope for some common sense to be used here.

But then you remember the cumbersome process of setting up your traditional tent, or loading the car with your rooftop tent and the excitement wanes. What if there was a way to make this process smoother, faster, and more comfortable? Enter the Hitch-Home Duo+, a new addition to the camping world that promises to enhance your outdoor experience.

The Hitch-Home Duo+ is not just another tent; it’s a cleverly designed shelter that attaches to your vehicle in a snap. Thanks to its quick-release system, you can say goodbye to the frustrating ordeal of mounting and dismounting a rooftop tent. This feature alone is a game-changer, allowing you to get your campsite up and running or packed away with unprecedented speed.

Early bird supporter pledges are now available for the groundbreaking project from roughly $1590 or £1249 (depending on current exchange rates). You’ll appreciate the simplicity of the setup process with the Hitch-Home Duo+. In just three minutes, your shelter is ready for occupancy. This efficiency means more time to enjoy your surroundings, whether that’s hiking, fishing, or simply relaxing with a good book. Traditional tents can’t compete with this level of convenience, often requiring much more time and effort to pitch.

The Hitch-Home Duo+ is designed to fit most vehicles, thanks to its universal 2-inch hitch receiver. It doesn’t matter if you have a small car or a big SUV; as long as you have a Hitch Class 3 or 4, you’re good to go. Kevee EV Charger smart electric vehicle charging point

Kevee EV Charger

Kevee EV Charger smart electric vehicle charging point

In the rapidly evolving world of electric vehicles (EVs), the Kevee EV charger emerges as a smart solution that not only powers up EVs but also offers a host of other benefits. The technology behind Kevee’s smart EV charging system is innovative and user-centric, focusing on making life easier for both EV users and public EV charger hosts.

At the core of Kevee’s smart EV charging technology is the capacity to turn any parking space into a potential source of income. This is achieved by equipping the parking space with a smart charger that can be added to the Kevee network. Once added, it becomes visible to the public via the Kevee app, thus allowing EV users to locate it and use it for charging their vehicles. This innovative approach allows users to monetize their parking spaces by providing an EV charging service, creating a new stream of income.

Kevee EV Charger

Kevee’s technology is not limited to public spaces. It can also be used at home to schedule charging and optimize utility bills. This feature brings about significant savings for EV users, making Kevee’s smart EV charging technology a cost-effective solution in the long run. Early bird pledges are now available for the inventive project from roughly $563 or £478 (depending on current exchange rates), offering a considerable discount of approximately 33% off the suggested retail price, while the Kickstarter crowd funding is under way.

A standout feature of Kevee’s technology is its ‘Demand-Response’ readiness. This allows utility providers to remotely manage the charging speed of EV chargers on their network to stay within grid limits. By ensuring that the charging process does not overload the grid, Kevee’s technology plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability of the power grid, which is a significant concern with the widespread adoption of EVs.

The Kevee Network is open-source, which means anyone can add their charger to the network. This inclusivity fosters a sense of community among EV users and charger hosts, and it also adds to the accessibility of charging options for EV users.

If the Kevee EV Charger campaign successfully raises its required pledge goal and the project progresses smoothly, worldwide shipping is expected to take place sometime around January 2024. To learn more about the Kevee EV Charger electric vehicle charging point project observe the promotional video below.

Kevee’s smart EV charging technology offers a plethora of benefits for EV users. Apart from saving money on utility bills and having access to the latest EV charging technology, users also gain exclusive rewards. This adds an element of incentive and excitement to the otherwise mundane task of charging vehicles.

For public EV charger hosts, the benefits are equally compelling. They can earn extra income and enjoy effortless earnings with Kevee handling payments and customer support. This takes the hassle out of the process, allowing hosts to focus on their primary business. Access to exclusive rewards is another perk that hosts can enjoy.

The Kevee app is a user-friendly solution for EV owners. It simplifies the process of finding charging stations, managing payments, and keeping track of charging history. It also offers a special offer during the campaign where adding $50 NZD or more to the Kevee Wallet will give users a 20% discount for life on the Kevee network.

Kevee’s smart EV charging technology is a comprehensive solution that addresses the needs of EV users and public EV charger hosts. It offers a unique blend of convenience, cost savings, and income generation, making it a valuable addition to the EV ecosystem.

An eight-foot albino boa is found coiling around a vehicle engine by a South Carolina auto technician.

In Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, an albino boa constrictor got into a Ford Focus.
On Tuesday morning in South Carolina, an 8-foot white boa constrictor was found wrapped around the engine of a car at a showroom.

Russell Cavender, who is known as “The Snake Chaser,” wrote on Facebook that the non-native snake was found curled up under the hood of a 2015 Ford Focus at Beach Automotive in Myrtle Beach.

“Under the hood of cars, I’ve found a lot of things,” Cavender wrote. “Possums, Squirell rats, and several snakes, but never an 8-foot white boa constrictor. A pretty interesting morning, I’d say!”

WPDE-TV said that Cavender was called to help the workers when they opened the hood and saw the snake while working on the car for a clutch shutter and recall.
“When I opened the hood, I saw this big thing on it, and I didn’t even know what it was,” Beach Automotive worker Tony Galli told the outlet. “I thought it was an oil-absorbing sock. I told him, “No, that’s a snake.” When I poked it, it moved, and I thought, “That thing is alive.”
Boa constrictors are not poisonous, but their bites are very strong and can cause injuries.

Since boas are not native to South Carolina, Cavender thinks the snake is someone’s pet. He said the snake looked thin and had lines on its body, which showed that it had not been cared for well.
WMBF reported that “The Snake Chaser” said he would take care of the boa until its owner came forward. If no one claims the boa, he will give it to a breeder.

Florida Siblings, 10 and 11, Went off in Mom’s Vehicle After She took their Electronic Devices

Two young siblings from Florida were arrested by authorities after driving approximately 200 miles away in their mother’s car after their mother took away their electronic devices and threatened to call the police.

According to a statement released by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, two children aged 10 and 11 years old were stopped by officers on Interstate 75 in the vicinity of Alachua, Florida, at around 3:50 in the morning on Thursday. The area was around 26 kilometers (nearly 16 miles) to the north of Gainesville.

The office of the sheriff asserted that the kid was the one behind the wheel.

After their mother took away their electronic devices, the two ran away and landed up three hours away in North Port, Florida, according to a follow-up statement that was put out by the office on Friday.

It was said there had been a missing kid report filed by the parent.

Since the vehicle had been reported stolen, the law enforcement officers pulled it over and ordered that the occupants come out under threat of being shot.

“Much to their surprise, deputies observed a 10-year-old male driver exiting the vehicle, along with his 11-year-old sister,” the sheriff’s office claimed.

The mother’s decision not to pursue legal action over the alleged theft of the vehicle resulted in the two suspects being returned to her care.

Following the mother’s decision to withdraw the case involving the stolen automobile, the police stated that they were unable to submit any criminal charges. It was said that the driver may have been arrested for driving without a license; but, as this is a minor traffic infraction, he or she would not be required to do time in a juvenile facility if they were convicted of this charge.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators conducted an interview with the mother of the victims. According to the findings of the social workers, she “was clearly doing her best to raise two young children, and she was very receptive to the recommendations they provided in helping her get assistance.”

Good Samaritan rescues Floridian from a flaming vehicle.

Over the weekend in Florida, a good Samaritan’s prompt actions likely saved the life of a driver who slammed into a resale business.

Around 3:30 a.m., a drunk driver lost control of his SUV, smashed into The Second Time Around consignment boutique in Seminole. The Florida Highway Patrol notified FOX 13 Tampa Bay on Sunday.

“He would have been in those flames if I had been even 30 seconds late,” Travis DuPont, who was on his way home from work when he observed the incident and rushed over to aid, told the TV station.

Stephanie Turow captured the heroic rescue on camera. It shows DuPont dash over to the SUV, reach through the window, unbuckle the driver’s seatbelt, free his legs, and drag him out.

“The entire car was engulfed in flames in maybe 20-30 seconds,” Turow claimed. “It makes me want to cry right now because it was such a terrifying, terrifying moment.” And, yes, he is quite fortunate to be alive.”

DuPont stated that he realized he had to move quickly and hopes that others would have done the same.

“Everyone has that instinct to help,” he explained. “I just hope that when the going gets tough and that actually happens, everybody is capable of being a hero.”

Minor injuries were sustained by the driver, who was taken to the hospital. FHP had not charged him as of Tuesday. The consignment shop is now open again.
