Apple TV+ committed to a second season of The Last Thing He Told Me, a thriller that aired in 2023. Jennifer Garner will continue in the starring role.
Season one of the drama is based on a novel of the same name by Laura Dave. Season two will be an adaptation of the forthcoming second book in the series.
The Last Thing He Told Me continues on Apple TV+ with season 2
“Like so many people, I fell for Hannah on page one of Laura Dave’s gripping novel. The move to actor and producer from reader and super fan was delicious,” said Jennifer Garner in a statement. “I’m thrilled to get to tell more of Hannah’s story — I couldn’t have said yes more quickly to season two! These characters and their story mean so much to me, as I know they do to the many who have championed our show; we’re excited to give audiences even more with this next chapter.”
Apple’s summary of season one of The Last Thing He Told Me says:
“The series follows Hannah (Garner), a woman who must forge a relationship with her 16-year-old stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice) in order to find the truth about why her husband has mysteriously disappeared.”
Apple TV+ making a second season renewal for The Last Thing He Told Me wasn’t an obvious move. For one thing, it called the show a limited series from the beginning. Those are stories that aren’t meant to be renewed.
Also, critics were not thrilled. Season one has a 42% approval rating on the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes.
That said, critics strongly praised Jennifer Garner’s work on the show. One critic said, “The show is full of heart, largely because of Jennifer Garner’s naturally gentle nature.” The actor rose to stardom in the early 2000s with Alias. She’s worked steadily since then.
Many reviewers panned the script and production, though. Still, the novel was a #1 New York Times bestseller, so there’s a lot of potential.
The Last Thing He Told Me season 2 is is not coming soon to Apple TV+
There’ll be plenty of time to work on the script and perhaps find a better director before the premiere of The Last Thing He Told Me season two.
Laura Dave is still writing the sequel novel, and it’s not scheduled for release until 2025. The next season of the Apple TV+ series arrives after that.
3 Body Problem, the new Netflix series from the creators of Game of Thrones, is getting mixed reviews from viewers – but its creators are reportedly already preparing for a second season.
As we said in our review of the sci-fi series, Netflix is taking a big gamble with the show. The books by Liu Cixin that it’s based on are famously brain-melting, it takes some time to hit its stride, and it’s quite a hard sell to people who aren’t familiar with the source material. But it’s a show worth sticking with, and its creators say that things get better still in the as yet unconfirmed season two.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, showrunners David Benioff, Dan Weiss and Alexander Woo say that there’s a scene in season two that will make the current season’s jaw-dropper look like a wam-up: “there’s one scene, if we get to it, we’re golden – like when we got to the ‘Red Wedding’ on Thrones.”
According to Benioff: “It’s something we’ve talked about with the Netflix guys, too… The second book is far better than the first, and the third book just completely blew my mind. The story just gets more and more ambitious as it goes, and it takes a huge leap in book two. So I feel like if we survive to the second season, we’re going to be in a good place.”
What are people saying about 3 Body Problem?
As the Hollywood Reporter points out, the biggest negative against the show is that it’s really expensive to make. The show is believed to be the most expensive scripted series in Netflix’s history, with a budget rumored to be around $20 million per episode. It also hasn’t rocket straight to number one in the Netflix TV chart in the UK, coming in at number two instead.
In our 3 Body Problem review by Tom Power, we said that it’s “a cleverly constructed and sweeping epic that, once it navigates its clunky embryonic stage, finds an impressive balance between its high-brow plot, intimate and character-driven storylines, and grounding in real science and history-defining events… It won’t have the same, industry-altering impact that Game of Thrones had in 2011, but it’s more than earned a spot – a potentially permanent one – in my best Netflix shows guide.”
The show is currently sitting at 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, where many reviewers share Tom’s view that it takes a while to find its stride. The Verge says that “by the finale, it becomes clear that these episodes are really just laying the groundwork for an even bigger, more deeply complicated narrative.” Den of Geek agrees that the first half is a little slow but says that “the back half of the season is consistently compelling, and sometimes downright thrilling”. But not every reviewer agrees that the show’s worth sticking with. The Chicago Tribune says that “somehow 3 Body Problem does not, in any way, feel urgent”, while The Independent says that “no book is really unadaptable; the problem is that rendering it on screen will simply be too dull, or confusing. 3 Body Problem is somehow both.”

Netflix has a reputation for being driven by numbers, so even popular shows can get the bullet if they’re not being watched quickly enough or if too many people skip town after watching only a little bit. But 3 Body Problem could turn out to be a halo show, the kind of show that encourages people to sign up for subscriptions and for showrunners to want to be on the network. Could 3 Body Problem be a three season show that rivals Apple TV Plus’ sci-fi crown? We wouldn’t bet against it.

As temperatures begin to rise, it’s time to prepare your outdoor space for some seasonal relaxation. That, of course, includes showing off your culinary skills on the porch, patio or in the backyard for guests. During the winter, your grill has probably been hibernating, so you’ll need to give it a tune-up before it’s ready for heavy use from spring to fall. Even if you kept the grill going in the cold, now is a great time for a thorough cleaning before the official outdoor cooking season begins. Here are a few tips and tricks that will hopefully make things easier.
Disassemble, scrub, reassemble
Billy Steele/Engadget
A good rule of thumb when it comes to cleaning anything you haven’t used in a while is to take it apart as much as you feel comfortable and give it a thorough wipe down. For grills, this means removing the grates and any bars or burner covers – basically, anything you can take out that’s not the heating element. This gives you a chance to inspect the burners of your gas grill or the fire pot of a pellet model for any unsightly wear and tear. If those components are worn out or overly rusted, most companies offer replacements that you can easily swap out with a few basic tools.
Once all the pieces are out, start by scraping excess debris off all sides of the interior – with the help of some cleaner if needed. For a gas grill, this likely means pushing everything out through the grease trap. On a pellet grill, you’ll want to scrape the grease chute clear and out into the catch can, but you’ll also need to vacuum the interior with a shop vac – just like you would after every few hours of use. And while you’re at it, go ahead and empty the hopper of any old pellets that have been sitting since Labor Day. Fuel that’s been sitting in the grill for months won’t give you the best results when it comes time to cook so you might as well start fresh.
Thankfully, pellet grill companies have made easy cleaning a key part of their designs. Weber’s SmokeFire has a set of metal bars on the inside that can be removed quickly to open up the bottom of the chamber. This is also a design feature of the company’s gas grills. Simply vacuum or push the debris out the grease chute. The catch pan where all of the garbage ends up is also easy to access from the front of the grill, and you can remove the aluminum liner and replace it with a new one in seconds.
Traeger’s most recent pellet grills were also redesigned to improve cleaning. Most notably, grease and ash end up in the same “keg” that’s easy to detach from the front of the grill. The company also allows you to quickly remove all of the interior components, though they’re larger than what you find on the SmokeFire. Lastly, Traeger moved the pellet chute to the front of the new Timberline and Ironwood, making it a lot more convenient to swap out wood varieties or empty an old supply.
You’ll want to get as much of the food leftovers out of your grill as possible for a few reasons. First, that stuff is old and lots of build-up over time can hinder cooking performance and might impact flavor. The last thing you want is old food or grease burning off right under an expensive ribeye. Second, in the case of pellet grills, not properly clearing out grease and dust can be dangerous. It’s easy for grease fires to start at searing temperatures and if there’s enough pellet dust in the bottom of your grill, it can actually ignite or explode. That’s why companies tell you to vacuum it out after every few hours of use.
All of that dust, grease and debris should be removed before you fire the grill back up. (Billy Steele/Engadget)
To actually clean the surfaces, you’ll want to get an all-natural grill cleaner. There are tons of options here, and it may take some time to find one you like. I typically use Traeger’s formula since it’s readily available at the places I buy pellets and I’ve found it works well cutting through stuck-on muck. You want an all-natural grill cleaner over a regular household product as it’s safe to use on surfaces that will touch your food. They’re also safe to use on the exterior of your grill without doing any damage to chrome, stainless steel or any other materials.
Spray down the inside and give things a few minutes to work. Wipe it all clean and go back over any super dirty spots as needed. Ditto for the grates, bars and any other pieces you removed. I like to lay these out on a yard waste trash bag (they’re bigger than kitchen bags) so all the stuff I scrape or clean off doesn’t get all over my deck. You can use shop towels if you want to recycle or paper towels if not, but just know whatever you choose will be covered in nasty black grime so you won’t want to just toss them in the clothes washer when you’re done. A pre-wash in a bucket or sink is needed to make sure you don’t transfer gunk from your grill to your business casuals.
In terms of tools, you don’t need much. I’ve tried that grill robot that claims to do the job for you, but I’ve found sticking to the basics is more efficient. And honestly, when you get the hang of it, it doesn’t take all that long. It’s a good idea to have a wire brush specifically for the grates that you don’t use to clean anything else. After all, this will be touching the same surfaces you put food on. I recommend another, smaller wire brush – the ones that look like big toothbrushes – for cleaning the burners on a gas grill. If you notice the flame isn’t firing through one of the holes, you can use this to clean the pathway. Lastly, plastic is the way to go for a scraper, anything else and you risk scratching the surfaces of your grill. Sure, any damage done would be on the inside, but it’s still not a great feeling to knick up your previous investment.
Check for updates before your first cook
Traeger
If you have a smart grill from the likes of Traeger, Weber or another company, you’ll want to plug it in and check for software updates well in advance of your first grilling session. Chances are you haven’t cooked much since last fall, which means companies have had months to push updates to their devices. Trust me, there’s nothing worse than spending an hour trimming and seasoning a brisket only to walk outside to start the grill and it immediately launches into the update process. This could extend the whole cooking time significantly depending on the extent of the firmware additions and strength of your WiFi.
Thankfully, checking for updates is quick and easy. All you need to do is turn on your grill and open up the company’s app on your phone. If there’s a download ready for your model, the mobile software will let you know and it’s usually quite prominent. If there’s not a pop-up alert that displays immediately, you can check the settings menu just to make sure. Sometimes for smaller updates, a company might not beat you over the head to refresh. However, starting a fresh slate of firmware is always a safe bet and will ensure your grill is running at its best when it comes time to cook.
For a good time every time, clean after each use
Billy Steele/Engadget
I’ll be the first to admit I don’t adhere to my own advice here, but it’s nice to have goals. I will also be the first to tell you every single time I smoke a Boston Butt or some other super fatty cut of meat that I wish I would’ve done at least a quick cleaning right after the meal. Grease buildup is not only highly flammable but it’s much harder to clean once it cools and solidifies. Ditto for stuck-on sauce or cheese that’s left on your grates after chicken or burgers. It’s best to attack these things while the grill is still warm, but cooled down from the cook.
You don’t necessarily have to break out the shop vac each time for your pellet grill or empty the grease bin. But you’ll want to make sure that stuff is away from the main cooking area for safety and so any burn off won’t impact the flavor of your food. A few cups of hot water can cleanse the grease run-off while that wire brush I mentioned is best for the grates. It also doesn’t hurt to do a light wipe down with an all-natural cleaner so everything is ready to go when you want to cook again.
New grills coming soon
A number of grill companies have already announced their 2024 product lineups. If you’re looking for new gear for the summer, some of them are already available while others will be arriving over the next few weeks. Recteq announced a robust group of grills in October, all of which are Wi-Fi-connected pellet models. The company also updated its family of “regular” pellet grills while taking the wraps off the SmokeStone 600 griddle and the dual-chamber DualFire 1000.
Weber has also tipped its hand for 2024. Back at CES, the company revealed a redesigned pellet grill, the Searwood, that will replace the SmokeFire in North America. Part of Searwood’s feature set is a special mode that allows you to use the grill while the lid is open for things like searing and flat-top griddling. Weber also debuted a new gas griddle, the Slate, that has a specially designed cooking surface that the company promises won’t rust and a digital temperature gauge. What’s more, there’s a new premium Summit smart gas grill with a massive touchscreen color display and top-mounted infrared broiler. Smart features here help with everything from gas flow to individual burners to monitoring fuel supply and dialing in the cooking process. All of the new Weber grills are scheduled to arrive this spring.
We haven’t heard much from Traeger this year and there’s a good chance the company won’t have new grills in 2024. It overhauled the Timberline in 2022 and brought some of the latest features, including the touchscreen display, to the Ironwood in 2023. Never say never, but if you’re looking for another all-new Traeger grill, you might be waiting several months.

With a show such as Black Mirror, it seems appropriate to say that we have good news and bad news: the dystopian sci-fi show, which often starts with utopian promises before heading into darkness, is coming back with some exciting news for fans and some bad news for fans too.
Let’s start with the bad news: the return of Black Mirror for season seven, originally tipped for late 2024, is now scheduled for 2025, which means we now finally have a set date to look forward to streaming the best Netflix series.
*clicks on demerit button*
The good news: among the six episodes that are coming to the best streaming service, there’s Black Mirror‘s very first sequel. A follow-up to season four’s excellent USS Callister episode (more commonly known as the Star Trek parody), which starred Jessie Plemons.
*gives the show one million merits*
Here’s what we know so far.
What to expect from Black Mirror Season 7
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the USS Callister sequel will be one of six episodes that make up season seven. USS Callister was the first episode in season four, which wasn’t admittedly one of the best Black Mirror episodes, but it still stands out as one of the most liked with a 94% Rotten Tomatoes rating.
In the upcoming sequel, it seems that Jessie Plemons’ character, reclusive programmer Robert Daly, is no more. “Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister their problems are just beginning,” Netflix says. The crew’s ship is the set of a massively multiplayer online game in which real people’s DNA is used to create their in-game clones; I’m not going to put any spoilers in here but this is Black Mirror, so of course things don’t go well.
Netflix is very much in tease mode for now. Posting on X/Twitter (see below), it simply said that there are “six new stories, but one looks a little familiar. Black Mirror returns 2025″.

The sixth season of Black Mirrorattracted mixed reviews across its run. Some episodes were praised as instant classics, while others were accused of being built around tired genre tropes. That’s mirrored in their Rotten Tomatoes scores: 94% for Joan is Awful, 87% for Loch Henry, 81% for Beyond The Sea, a comparatively terrible 60% for Mazey Day and a triumphant finale with the 100%-rated Demon 79. Former Digital Spy editor David Opie wasn’t shy about criticising the low-scoring Mazey Day, claiming that it was one of the worst episodes in the show’s entire history – although he did say that Demon 79 was one of his all-time favorites.
I’m reminded of another show here: Tales of the Unexpected, the UK series that ran from 1979 to 1988, which spawned a short-lived US equivalent, Way Out that Black Mirror has often been compared to it. What began as a solo Roald Dahl vehicle was widened to include other writers – Dahl himself exited the show after the third season – over its nine-season run, and while it’s remembered fondly it was also hugely variable in terms of quality. Even the legendary Lambs to the Slaughter episode, which used a clever and now famous device so a character could literally get away with murder, is oddly paced and strangely structured.
It turns out that making dystopian, twisty fiction gets harder the longer you do it – so it’ll be interesting to see whether Black Mirror season seven is more of a Demon 79 than a Mazey Day.
Season seven of Black Mirror will stream on Netflix in 2025.
For the very first time, there’s going to be a very familiar face absent from Grey Sloan Memorial. Season 20 is Grey’s Anatomy’s very first without lynchpin Dr Meredith Grey at the helm. It’s time for some new blood… if you’ll forgive the turn of phrase! So keep reading, as we explain how to watch Grey’s Anatomy season 20 online and from wherever you are in the world.

Ellen Pompeo’s titular MD may have been at the heart of Grey’s Anatomy since the very outset almost two decades ago, but other beloved doctors such as Cristina Yang (played by Sandra Oh) and Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) have been and gone before, with the show remaining a popular fixture on the TV calendar.
To fill the void (if such a thing is possible for such a beloved character), the Grey’s Anatomy writers brought in a crop of new characters during season 19, with plenty of their own storylines to explore.
It’s through those new interns’ eyes that we’ll see life move on at the hospital, and showrunner Meg Marinis says that the show will be going “back to basics” for season 20. So expect the usual dose of complex personal problems, intertwined with traumatizing medical emergencies.
Note that, due to last year’s industry strikes, season 20 will be a short run – just 10 episodes. And to make sure that you don’t miss a minute, keep reading our guide on how to watch Grey’s Anatomy online from absolutely anywhere.

How many episodes are in season 20 of Grey’s Anatomy?
The 20th season of Grey’s Anatomy will comprise just 10 episodes.
The reason for the shortened series – the prior two seasons had 20 episodes each – is the Hollywood writers’ strike of 2023.
It will therefore be the shortest series of Grey’s Anatomy since the very first season back in 2005, which had nine.
Only the first three episodes have been named at the time of writing:
Ridiculously rich people are the problem, ridiculously rich person Molly Wells (Maya Rudolph) says in the season two trailer for comedy series Loot, out Thursday. And that’s why she’ll give away her whole $120 billion fortune. Or she’ll try, anyway.

Loot season 2 trailer mixes comedy with extreme philanthropy
Here’s how Apple TV+ describes the show and its new season (at unusual length):
Loot season two kicks off a year after Molly Wells (Rudolph) settles her very public divorce from tech billionaire John Novak (Adam Scott), and we find her thriving in her role as the head of her philanthropic organization, the Wells Foundation. Focused mainly on her charity work, Molly has sworn off any new relationships with men and embarks on a wellness journey. Fabulously single but not particularly independent, Molly keeps her trusty assistant Nicholas (Booster) by her side. He diligently caters to her every whim … and occasionally feeds her a kale smoothie spiked with gin.
Sofia Salinas (Rodriguez), the no-nonsense executive director of the Wells Foundation, continues to run things with compassionate efficiency, but her all-business ethos is thrown for a loop when she meets Molly’s charismatic architect friend Isaac (O-T Fagbenle). The bromance between Howard (Funches) and Nicholas also continues to flourish as they support each other in their endeavors both inside and outside the workplace.
Meanwhile, Arthur (Faxon) has moved past his feelings for Molly and has adopted a new devil-may-care attitude on life, a change encapsulated by a very lame leather bracelet. The Wells Foundation team, including Rhonda (Meagen Fay) and Ainsley (Stephanie Styles), must pull together as co-workers and friends as Molly strives to publicly live up to her promise of giving away all of her vast fortune.
New guest stars
And while most of cast will be familiar to fans of the show, the new season brings new cast members, too. Guest stars include Benjamin Bratt, Ana Gasteyer and O-T Fagbenle, among others.
Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard created Loot and also write and executive produce it. Other executive producers include Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behrens, Dave Becky of 3 Arts and Natasha Lyonne. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, produces the show for Apple.

Epic has added some intriguing new areas to the island as well, including Mount Olympus and Hades’ Underworld. A spooky-looking version of the River Styx, which is guarded by Cerberus, leads up to the latter.
