Bose SoundLink Max about to launch, say leaks

[ad_1]

Bose could be about to launch SoundLink Max, a bigger and brawnier version of the popular and portable SoundLink Flex Bluetooth speaker, according to a leak and an FCC filing.

That will put another HomePod competitor on the market, and it may be a worthy one with quality sound plus portability.

Bose SoundLink Max

Sources like CNET started buzzing about Bose SoundLink Max as an imminent successor to 2021’s SoundLink Flex when Max images and specs surfaced on a Canadian retail site, Tanguay (post since removed). Further fuel was added to speculative fire when a filing for the new speaker appeared with the Federal Communications Commission.

However, Bose has remained tight-lipped about this potential new addition to its SoundLink family. But it seems likely the new speaker will be another competitor of HomePod 2 released in January 2023 (though Apple’s speakers aren’t designed for portable use).

If the leaks are accurate, SoundLink Max will come in blue and black colors. It will measure 10.4 inches in width, 6.4 inches in height and 3.9 inches in depth. That would make it slightly larger than the SoundLink Flex.

But despite the increased size, a notable feature of the SoundLink Max will likely be portability. It could have a built-in handle on top , allowing users to easily carry it around. That would make it a perfect companion for outdoor activities, beach parties or even just moving it from room to room in your house.

Expect Bose sound quality

Bose has always been known for its exceptional sound quality, and SoundLink Max will probably continue the legacy. With its larger size than Flex, it could offer even better audio performance, delivering rich and immersive sound.

The speaker is rumored to feature multiple drivers and advanced audio technologies, ensuring well-balanced and powerful output.

Connectivity and battery life

Here’s what Bose SoundLink Flex looks like — smaller than SoundLink Max.

The leaked information suggests that the SoundLink Max will support various connectivity options. Bluetooth 5.1 will let users easily connect their smartphones, tablets or laptops wirelessly. Additionally, it might also come with an auxiliary input for wired connections.

In terms of battery life, the SoundLink Max is rumored to offer a significant improvement over its predecessor. While the SoundLink Flex provided up to 12 hours of playtime, the SoundLink Max may offer an impressive 20 hours of continuous playback. So you won’t have to recharge via USB-C connection as often.

Additional features

Apart from its core features, Bose SoundLink Max might come with some additional functionalities. One possibility is voice assistant integration, allowing users to conveniently control the speaker using voice commands. It will most likely integrate with Bose Music app and Bose SimpleSync to connect with other speakers.

It may also have water resistance, making it more durable and suitable for outdoor use.

Bose SoundLink Max: Price and availability

As of now, there is no official information about the price and availability of the SoundLink Max. However, based on the leaked details, it is expected to be priced higher than the SoundLink Flex’s $149 price tag, considering the larger size and improved features. The Tanguay site suggested the speaker will come out April 23 for about $399.

Here is the order in which Gurman expects the Macs to launch:

1. A low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4, coming around the end of 2024.
2. A 24-inch iMac with the M4, also expected around the end of the year.
3. New 14-inch and 16-inch high-end MacBook Pros with M4 Pro/Max chips, due between the end of 2024 and early 2025.
4. A Mac mini in both M4 and M4 Pro configurations, coming between the end of 2024 and early 2025.
5. New 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Airs, slated for around spring 2025.
6. A Mac Studio with a high-end M4 chip, coming around the middle of 2025.
7. A Mac Pro with an M4 Ultra chip, due in the second half of 2025.

Gurman reiterated that Apple has internally tested an M3 Ultra chip, which would be suitable for the Mac Studio and the Mac Pro, but he said it is “all but assured that at least some of Apple’s high-end desktops” will skip the M3 chip series.

Gurman said that Apple will emphasize the artificial intelligence capabilities of the M4 chip series.

When to Expect a New Apple TV to Launch

[ad_1]

It has been nearly a year and a half since the current Apple TV was released, so the device is becoming due for a hardware upgrade. Below, we recap rumors about the next Apple TV, including potential features and launch timing.

apple tv 4k yellow bg feature
The current model is the third-generation Apple TV 4K, announced in October 2022. Key new features compared to the previous model from 2021 include a faster A15 Bionic chip, a larger 128GB storage option, a slightly thinner and lighter design, HDR10+ support, a USB-C port on the Siri Remote, lower pricing, and more.

Launch Timing

In January 2023, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman reported that a new Apple TV would be released in the first half of 2024. If that timeframe remains accurate, a new Apple TV would be released by the end of June. If so, the device could be announced in a press release on Apple’s website, or unveiled during the WWDC keynote on June 10.

Gurman has not commented on the next Apple TV in recent months, and his report was published nearly 15 months ago, so it is unclear if the device remains on track to launch in the first half of 2024 or if Apple’s plans have changed.

Announcement dates for recent Apple TV models:

  • Third-generation Apple TV 4K: October 2022
  • Second-generation Apple TV 4K: April 2021
  • First-generation Apple TV 4K: September 2017
  • Apple TV HD: September 2015

Rumors

Faster Chip

The next Apple TV will be equipped with a faster processor compared to the current model, according to Gurman’s report last year. It’s unclear which chip will power the device, but possibilities include the A16 Bionic chip that debuted in the iPhone 14 Pro models or the A17 Pro chip that debuted in the iPhone 15 Pro models.

Lower Price

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the next Apple TV to be “more affordable” than the current model. He said a “sub-$100 price” would be the “sweet spot” for the Apple TV, but exact pricing for the next model remains to be seen.

Both the second-generation (2010) and third-generation (2012) versions of the Apple TV were priced at $99 in the U.S. at launch, and Apple eventually lowered the price of the third-generation model to $69, so there is precedent for a sub-$100 Apple TV that would better compete with low-priced streaming devices sold by Google, Amazon, and Roku.

In the U.S., the current Apple TV starts at $129 with 64GB of storage, and a 128GB model with an added Ethernet port is available for $149.

Similar Design

The new Apple TV will have the same external design as the current model, Gurman said.

Apple said the A15 Bionic chip’s increased power efficiency allowed for the fan to be removed in the current Apple TV, resulting in the device having a more compact design that is around 12% thinner and around 50% lighter than the previous model.

Apple TV With Camera

A future Apple TV could have a built-in camera for FaceTime and other video calling apps, Gurman said in his Power On newsletter a few days ago.

tvOS 17 added a FaceTime app to the Apple TV, allowing for users to have video calls by using the rear camera on a connected iPhone or iPad. If the Apple TV gained a built-in camera, users would no longer need to rely on an external device.

It is unclear if a camera would be added to the next Apple TV or a later model.

Samsung Galaxy F35 and Galaxy M35 could launch in India soon

[ad_1]

Earlier today, Samsung launched two mid-range phones—Galaxy M15 5G and Galaxy M55—in India. However, Samsung isn’t done yet and could launch two more mid-range smartphones in the country: Galaxy F35 and Galaxy M35. They both could be slightly modified versions of the Galaxy A35.

Galaxy F35 and Galaxy F35 use the Exynos 1380 chip

Samsung has received BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification (via 91Mobiles) for two upcoming smartphones. They bear model numbers SM-SM-E356B/DS and SM-M356B/DS. Looking at those model numbers and Samsung’s smartphone nomenclature, the phones will most likely be launched as the Galaxy F35 5G and the Galaxy M35 5G.

Samsung Galaxy F35 M35 BIS Certification India

Both phones were spotted earlier, and it was revealed that they feature the Exynos 1380 processor. This is the same chipset used in the Galaxy A35, which was launched a few days ago in India. They have 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phones will likely feature a microSD card slot and run Android 14-based One UI 6.1 out of the box.

You can watch all the new features that One UI 6.1 brings in our video below.

Both upcoming phones will likely feature OLED screens with a 120Hz refresh rate, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, a USB Type-C port, a promise of four Android OS updates, and a 5,000mAh or higher capacity battery.

When to Expect the Next iPad Mini and Low-End iPad Models to Launch

[ad_1]

While rumors have been focused on new iPad Pro and iPad Air models, some Apple customers are wondering when the next iPad mini will be released.

iPad Mini 6 YouTubed 2
In his Power On newsletter today, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman said new iPad mini and entry-level iPad models will be released in late 2024 at the earliest.

“The company is also working on new versions of the low-end iPad and iPad mini, but those won’t be coming before the end of the year at the earliest,” he said. “The new downscale iPad will probably end up being a cost-reduced version of the 10th generation model from 2022, while the iPad mini update won’t include much more than a processor upgrade.”

The current sixth-generation iPad mini was released in September 2021, and it is equipped with an A15 Bionic chip. Gurman expects the next model to feature a newer chip, but few other changes. Additional features rumored by other sources include camera upgrades and a fix for the “jelly scrolling” display behavior.

The low-end iPad was last updated in October 2022. An eleventh-generation iPad could start at a lower price than the 10th-generation iPad, which could pave the way for Apple to discontinue the ninth-generation iPad with the Lightning connector.

Google to Launch Android Find My Network After Apple Adds Third-Party Tracker Alerts to iPhone

[ad_1]

Google today began letting Android customers know that it will soon launch a promised Android-based Find My Device network, reports 9to5Google. Google announced the upcoming ‌Find My‌ feature last year, but it has not yet debuted because Apple and Google were working to develop a cross-platform solution for unwanted tracking alerts.

AirTag and iPhone Notification Feature
Code in iOS 17.5 suggests that Apple is adding support for discovering nearby third-party item trackers and alerting iPhone owners when one has been located. “You can disable this item and stop it from sharing its location with the owner. To do this, follow the instructions provided on a website by the manufacturer of this item,” reads some of the code.

With Apple likely planning to add alerts for third-party trackers in iOS 17.5, Google is clear to launch its new ‌Find My‌ Device network, which will allow Android smartphones to be used to locate lost phones, Bluetooth trackers, headphones, and other accessories.

Apple and Google first announced plans for an industry tracker specification in May 2023, with the aim of putting an end to the misuse of Bluetooth item trackers for tracking individuals. Both companies have been working to implement AirTag-style tracking alerts so people will know when a tracker of any kind is nearby.

After Apple launched the ‌Find My‌ network alongside AirTags, there were countless news stories and reports of criminals using AirTags for stalking purposes, leading Apple to make several changes to unwanted tracker alerts. iPhones were initially able to identify nearby AirTags and alert customers if they were being used for stalking purposes, but Android devices could not. Apple remedied this with a Tracker Detect app for Android, but the partnership with Google will allow for a more permanent and reliable solution that will work regardless of device.

Google says that the ‌Find My‌ Device network will let Android users find their devices even when offline, and it will work with compatible Fast Pair accessories as well as Android-based electronics. Google plans to launch the network early next week.

New iPad Model Spotted in Regulatory Database Ahead of Launch

[ad_1]

One new iPad model has appeared in Indian regulatory filings ahead of its expected announcement next month.

ipad pro 2022
The listing, spotted by 91Mobiles, appeared in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database with the model number A2386. This does not correlate with any existing Apple device.

91Mobiles and several other sites have erroneously suggested that A2387 is also a new ‌iPad‌ model, but it actually relates to the battery for the current- and previous-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro. A2386, on the other hand, is a new listing likely for a battery in one of the new iPads.

It is not clear whether this device is a new iPad Air or ‌iPad Pro‌, but both product lines are expected to be refreshed in May. New ‌iPad‌ models have been thought to be on the brink of launch for several weeks, and the latest regulatory filing seems to cement expectations that they will appear relatively soon.
