Sony Xperia 1 VI leak reveals new camera app and more features borrowed from Alpha cameras

[ad_1]

A wealth of information has leaked for the Sony Xperia 1 VI revealing almost everything there is to know about the smartphone. Specs, camera array, features; you name it and it’s probably there. According to news site MSPowerUser, the device is slated to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset plus a 5,000 mAh battery that’ll reportedly last two days on a single charge. On the front is an OLED display. It’s unknown exactly how large the screen will be, but it’s said to have a 19.5:9 aspect ratio which is smaller than the Xperia 1 V’s 21:9 aspect ratio.

As impressive as these specs may be, the real star of the show is the software. MSPowerUser claims Sony is combining its Photography Pro, Videography Pro, and Cinema Pro apps into one useful tool. The report points out this is a move seemingly “inspired by [the company’s own] Alpha series cameras.”

Like the Alpha line, the Xperia 1 VI could receive “human pose estimation technology”, giving it the ability to focus on people even if they’re facing away from the lens or are obscured. Sony even apparently has plans to introduce an app called Video Creator, simplifying the video production process and helping users make content.

iOS 18’s Rumored AI Features for Siri, Spotlight, and More Revealed in New Report

[ad_1]

Apple system features such as Siri and Spotlight Search are set to receive new AI features that work across apps like Messages, Mail, and Safari, AppleInsider reports.

Apple Silicon AI Optimized Feature Siri
Safari will apparently gain a text summarization tool called Intelligent Browsing that allows users to generate a short summary of any webpage, and ‌Siri‌ could gain a similar feature that works in the Messages app. Apple’s AI technology can apparently analyze message content and generate responses. Spotlight search will be enhanced with more intelligent results and improved sorting, working across apps like Contacts and Calendar to generate responses.

Crucially, Apple’s AI tools run-on device, with the ability to generate responses without any cloud-based processing, to maximize privacy and minimize delays. More advanced replies and summaries seem to require sever-side processing. Apple is widely expected to unveil the suite of AI features when it previews major updates to its operating systems at WWDC in June.

Spotify Supremium leak reveals what the new tier and some features may look like at launch

[ad_1]

Screenshots have emerged online of what may be the user interface for Spotify’s long-awaited Supremium tier. Or should we say “Enhanced Listening”? This is apparently the new name for the tier according to user OhItsTom who posted seven images of the potential update on Reddit. They reveal what the new tier could look like on desktop and mobile devices. What’s interesting about the pictures is that they show some of the tools and text windows that may be present in the final product.

Based on the four smartphone pictures, the hi-res audio feature will apparently be known as Spotify Lossless. This set consists of an introductory guide explaining how the whole thing works. It states subscribers can wirelessly stream music files “in up to 24-bit” via Spotify Connect on a compatible device. A Lossless label will seemingly light up letting you know when you’re streaming in the higher format. Spotify is giving users “pro tips” and a troubleshooting tool in case they’re not receiving lossless audio. The last screenshot says you can adjust song quality “and Downloads in Settings.”

Apple’s iOS 18 could copy some AI features from Samsung One UI 6.1

[ad_1]

After the recent boom in AI-powered features, Samsung introduced several AI-powered features with the Galaxy S24 and One UI 6.1. Apple doesn’t want to be too far behind, and reports indicate that it will go big on AI with the iOS 18 update. Some of those features seem to be inspired by Samsung.

iOS 18 to feature web page summaries in Safari, audio recording in Notes, and unit converter in Calculator apps

Apple iPhone 16 Pro and Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max

Recent reports indicate that iOS 18 will bring several AI-powered features, including the ability to summarize webpages in the Safari web browser. This is similar to Samsung Internet’s Browsing Assist feature. Moreover, the new ‘Web Eraser’ feature would reportedly allow users to remove certain elements from web pages.

The Notes app in iOS 18 will reportedly allow recording audio without switching to the Voice Memos app. This is similar to Samsung Notes’ voice recording feature, which allows students to take notes and record lectures simultaneously to have better context.

Samsung Galaxy AI

Apparently, Apple is also planning to add a unit converter to the Calculator app with iOS 18. This feature is also present in the Samsung Calculator app. Apple is expected to go one step ahead of Samsung and integrate the Calculator app with the Notes app.

The other rumored features of iOS 18 include automatic playlist generation in the Apple Music app, a new Scenes feature in the Canvas app, and AI-powered features in the Apple Health app.

Generative AI-powered features are also expected in the Keynote, Numbers, and Pages apps for improved productivity. Fitness, Mail, and Photos apps are also rumored to get AI features, but it isn’t clear what those features are. It is possible that users could make more detailed edits in the Photos app, similar to Samsung’s Photo Assist feature.

It will also bring RCS support to the Messages app in iOS 18, finally allowing higher-quality instant messaging with Android users. The stock Messages app on Galaxy phones already has RCS support, which means they won’t feel left out while texting with iPhone users.

This pink Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU features adorable cats and pugs, oh my!

[ad_1]

There’s a new Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 on the block and while it might not be the best graphics card out there, it has one massive advantage: it’s adorably cat-themed.

The card is currently available through one of Nvidia’s Chinese board partners, ASL, and can be shipped out to the US. Even better, the price is less than a normal RTX 4060. The design is a collaboration between ASL and SupremoCat, a Chinese cartoon brand, and features Wuhuang and Bazhahey (a cat and pug duo) wearing sunglasses and placed at the center of each fan. To top it off, the card is a pretty pastel pink, giving it even cuter vibes.

New AI Features Reportedly Coming to Safari in iOS 18

[ad_1]

Safari will gain a series of AI-powered features and UI enhancements in iOS 18, AppleInsider reports.

safari icon blue banner
Safari will apparently receive a range of visual tweaks alongside several new tools to improve the browsing experience, including:

  • An “Intelligent Search” browser assistant tool that leverages Apple’s on-device AI technology to identify key topics and phrases on webpages for summarization purposes.
  • A “Web Eraser” tool that allows users to remove unwanted portions of webpages easily. Erasure is persistent, remaining even when revisiting a site unless changes are reverted.
  • A new, quick-access menu emerging from the address bar that consolidates page tools, bringing over some functions that currently sit in the Share Sheet and placing them alongside the new tools.

The iPadOS and macOS versions of Safari are also expected to align further. These new features are purportedly undergoing evaluation alongside internal builds of ‌iOS 18‌ and macOS 15 ahead of their unveiling at Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) in June. Earlier this month, backend code on Apple’s servers suggested that a new Safari browsing assistant is in the works, corroborating this report.

Farther in the future, Apple is said to be working on a more powerful version of Visual Look Up that allows users to obtain information on products when browsing through images. The feature is expected to be released sometime in 2025.

Last week, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman said that ‌iOS 18‌ will “overhaul” many of Apple’s built-in apps, including Notes, Mail, Photos, and Fitness. Apple’s next-generation operating systems are almost certain to be previewed during Apple’s WWDC keynote on June 10, and the updates should be widely released in the fall.
