¿Por qué Coming To America 2 se filmó por separado con Eddie Murphy y James Earl Jones?

[ad_1]

Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb” de Stanley Kubrick.

Dios bendiga a James Earl Jones.

Marvel’s ‘What If…?’ VR/AR special coming to Vision Pro

[ad_1]

Marvel's 'What If…? – An Immersive Story' is coming exclusively to Apple Vision Pro

Marvel Studios and ILM Immersive are bringing an interactive story to Apple Vision Pro. What If…? – An Immersive Story will be an exclusive for Apple’s headset.

It’s an hour-long experience intended to put Marvel fans inside the Multiverse like never before.

Marvel’s What If…? – An Immersive Story puts viewers inside the Multiverse

The What If…? series on Disney+ reimagines familiar Marvel characters, putting them in alternative situations and working alongside — or against — unexpected characters. The version being created for Apple Vision Pro will take that to a new level

What If…? – An Immersive Story is the next evolution in how we tell our stories, where fans across generations can experience them and live out the adventure alongside their favorite heroes,” director and executive producer Dave Bushore said in a statement. “This experience kicks the door open to the Marvel Universe, and it’s a glimpse of what I’ve been waiting for my whole life.”

Viewers/players of the upcoming Vision Pro app will take a leading role in the interactive story as they move through the Multiverse. They’ll meet Multiversal variants of familiar characters, learn the mystic arts, and even harness the power of the Infinity Stones.

The software will use the augmented and virtual reality capacities of Vision Pro, and interact with their eyes and hands.

“This experience is truly groundbreaking and unlike anything we’ve done before,” said Jamie Voris, EVP/Chief Technology Officer at The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s an exciting new way to become a part of the MCU through a deeply emotional and compelling story.”

What If…? – An Immersive Story was written by David Dong and Phil McCarty (The Learning Curve), with music by Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning composer Laura Karpman (American Fiction, The Marvels).

Coming soon?

Despite Wednesday’s announcement of the Vision Pro application, Marvel and Disney stopped short of putting any kind of timetable on the release.

“Additional details about What If…? – An Immersive Story will be revealed soon,” is all they would say.

Apple Says iOS 17.5 Coming ‘Soon’ With These New Features for iPhones

[ad_1]

Apple today announced that iOS 17.5 will be released to the public “soon,” following over a month of beta testing. While the software update is relatively minor, it does have a few new features and changes, as outlined in the list below.

iOS 17 All New Features Thumb
“The new Pride Radiance watch face and iPhone and iPad wallpapers will be available soon with watchOS 10.5, iOS 17.5, and iPadOS 17.5,” said Apple, in its press release introducing a new Pride Edition band for the Apple Watch.

Below, we have recapped everything new in the iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 betas so far.

Web Distribution

apple ios app store safari changesapple ios app store safari changes
Starting with the second beta of iOS 17.5, eligible developers are able to distribute their iOS apps to iPhone users located in the EU directly on the web, instead of through the App Store or an alternative app marketplace.

“Web Distribution” is limited to larger developers based in the EU. To qualify for this distribution method, Apple says the developer must be a member of the Apple Developer Program for two continuous years or more, and have an app that had more than one million annual installs on iOS in the EU in the prior calendar year.

“Web Distribution” builds upon the alternative app marketplaces that Apple already allows on the iPhone in the EU starting with iOS 17.4. Apple has made these app-related changes to comply with the EU’s Digital Markets Act.

Quartiles

iOS 17iOS 17
iOS 17.5 includes a fun addition for Apple News+ subscribers: a daily word game called Quartiles.

Quartiles tasks you with combining tiles to form words and earn points. Each puzzle starts with a grid of 20 tiles, and words can be formed with one to four tiles. A quartile is a four-tile word, and if you find all five in each puzzle, you earn a 40-point bonus. The website Gadget Hacks shared a walkthrough of the game with more details.

Quartiles is the third puzzle game included with an Apple News+ subscription, alongside Crossword and Crossword Mini. Starting with the iOS 17.5 beta, all three games integrate with Game Center to display leaderboards.

On an iPhone updated to the iOS 17.5 beta, Quartiles can be found in the Apple News app under the Following tab → Puzzles. The game is also available on the iPad and Mac starting with the iPadOS 17.5 and macOS 14.5 betas.

Apple News+ is available in the U.S., Australia, Canada, and the U.K., but the puzzle games seem to be limited to the U.S. and Canada for now.

Repair Mode

ios 17 5 repair stateios 17 5 repair state
iOS 17.5 introduces a “Repair State” option that lets an ‌iPhone‌ be sent in for service without deactivating Find My and Activation Lock.

Color-Changing Apple Podcasts Widget

While listening to a podcast on the iOS 17.5 beta, the background color of the Apple Podcasts widget changes to match the podcast’s cover art. This feature was first added in the iOS 17.4 beta, but it was removed before that update was released.

Mobile Device Management

As noted by Aaron Perris, MDM solutions can enforce an iOS beta version during Automated Device Enrollment starting with the iOS 17.5 beta.

Code Changes

Battery Health Menu for Future iPads

iPad Battery FeatureiPad Battery Feature
The first iPadOS 17.5 beta added several new references to a Battery Health menu on the iPad, but the feature is not actually visible yet. The menu is expected to show an iPad battery’s maximum remaining capacity and charge cycle count.

A sample of the code strings added in the iPadOS 17.5 beta:

  • “iPad must be regularly used while not connected to power to show maximum capacity.”
  • “This is the number of times iPad has used your battery’s capacity.”
  • “The iPad battery is performing as expected.”
  • “iPad batteries, like all rechargeable batteries, have a limited lifespan and may eventually need to be serviced or replaced.”
  • “The original battery was designed to retain X capacity at X cycles under ideal conditions. Actual battery performance depends on a number of variables, including how iPad is used and charged regularly. The one-year warranty includes service for defective batteries in addition to rights provided under local consumer laws.”

There is no visible Battery Health menu on any existing iPad models running the iPadOS 17.5 beta, leading us to believe that the menu may be limited to the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models that are expected to launch this month, and likely other new iPads released in the future. Apple has shown battery capacity information on iPhones for many years, but cycle count information is currently limited to the latest iPhone 15 series.

New Apple Pencil

apple pencilapple pencil
In the iPadOS 17.5 beta, there are potential references to a new fourth-generation Apple Pencil, amid rumors that the accessory will be updated soon.

The beta includes a hidden code reference to a “V4” version of the Apple Pencil:

NumberOfApplePencilV1ConnectionsCount
NumberOfApplePencilV2ConnectionsCount
NumberOfApplePencilV3ConnectionsCount
NumberOfApplePencilV4ConnectionsCount

A new Apple Pencil is rumored to launch alongside updated iPad Pro and iPad Air models this month. Apple refers to the USB-C version of the Apple Pencil released last year as the third-generation Apple Pencil in iOS code, so the fourth-generation model would be a new version that would likely succeed the second-generation Apple Pencil.

Additional code in the iOS 17.5 beta suggests that the Apple Pencil could gain a “squeeze” gesture for certain actions, and haptic feedback is also expected.

Third-Party Item Tracker Alerts

AirTag and iPhone Notification FeatureAirTag and iPhone Notification Feature
Apple and Google last year jointly announced a proposed industry specification to help combat the misuse of Bluetooth item trackers for unwanted tracking of individuals. As part of this initiative, Apple promised to expand AirTag-like “Found Moving With You” alerts to third-party item trackers in a future software update, which turns out to be iOS 17.5.

The first iOS 17.5 beta added references to alerts for third-party item trackers. For example: “You can disable this item and stop it from sharing its location with the owner. To do this, follow the instructions provided on a website by the manufacturer of this item.”

Tile, Chipolo, Samsung, Eufy, and Pebblebee all expressed support for the industry specification, according to Apple’s announcement last year.

In related news, Google launched its own Find My Device network last month.

Block All Participants in Group FaceTime Calls

iOS 17.5 beta code indicates that there may be a new “Block All Participants” option for group FaceTime calls, which could help users to fight spam.

Report: Apple’s First Foldables Coming in 2025 and 2026

[ad_1]

Apple’s first foldable devices will reach mass production in 2025 and 2026, according to Haitong analyst Jeff Pu.

Foldable iPhone 2023 Feature Blue
In a note to investors seen by MacRumors, Pu said that foldable devices are increasingly visible in Apple’s supply chain with accelerating progress. The company is expected to release a large-screen foldable iPad or MacBook to kick-off its foray into the product category before launching a higher volume foldable iPhone.

One Apple foldable with a 20.3-inch display will apparently start production in late 2025, which is sooner than previously expected. This time frame is said to be supported by information from Korean display makers, as well as American and Taiwanese hinge manufacturers.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone will allegedly feature a 7.9-inch or 8.3-inch display. Epic adventure WondLa coming to Apple TV+ this summer

[ad_1]

The first installment of the animated adventure trilogy WondLa will premiere on Apple TV+ in June. It’s the most ambitious children’s show the streamer has launched.

The series is adapted from a New York Times bestselling book series by Skydance Animation, and has a star-studded voice cast.

This post contains affiliate links. Cult of Mac may earn a commission when you use our links to buy items.

WondLa takes Apple TV+ into epic animation

Most adults focus on shows like Severance or Silo, but Apple TV+ has a wide array of programs for younger viewers. And while many of these have won awards, they can’t be described as “epic.” But that’s where its upcoming series comes in.

Apple describes it’s upcoming animated show with:

WondLa centers around Eva, a curious, enthusiastic and spirited teenager being raised in a state-of-the-art underground bunker by Muthr, a robot caretaker. On her 16th birthday, an attack on Eva’s bunker forces her onto the Earth’s surface, which is now inhabited by aliens and covered with otherworldly fauna, and there are no other humans to be found. In fact, it’s no longer called Earth, but Orbona. Otto, a lovable giant waterbear with whom Eva shares telepathic powers, and Rovender, a cantankerous alien with a troubled past, join Eva as she leads the team on a dangerous quest to find humans, her home and her true destiny.”

A star-studded voice cast

The voice cast features Jeanine Mason (Roswell, New Mexico), Emmy-nominee Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives), Emmy-winner Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), and Gary Anthony Williams (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows). Also lending their voices to the cast are Chiké Okonkwo (The Birth of a Nation, La Brea), D.C. Douglas (Sharknado 2: The Second One, Black Ops) and Emmy-nominee Alan Tudyk (Resident Alien).

The multi-part series is based on The Search for WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi, who also created . Bobs Gannaway is the showrunner.

Coming this summer

The seven-episode first season of WondLa will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, June 28. The entire season will launch together for easy binging, not in weekly installments.

Watch on Apple TV

Watching will come with a subscription to Apple TV+. The service is $9.99 per month with a seven-day free trial. You can also access it via any tier of the Apple One subscription bundle.

And Apple’s streaming video service also includes much more, of course. There’s a library of drama, comedies, sci-fi, musicals, children’s shows, nature documentaries, etc.

New AI Features Reportedly Coming to Safari in iOS 18

[ad_1]

Safari will gain a series of AI-powered features and UI enhancements in iOS 18, AppleInsider reports.

safari icon blue banner
Safari will apparently receive a range of visual tweaks alongside several new tools to improve the browsing experience, including:

  • An “Intelligent Search” browser assistant tool that leverages Apple’s on-device AI technology to identify key topics and phrases on webpages for summarization purposes.
  • A “Web Eraser” tool that allows users to remove unwanted portions of webpages easily. Erasure is persistent, remaining even when revisiting a site unless changes are reverted.
  • A new, quick-access menu emerging from the address bar that consolidates page tools, bringing over some functions that currently sit in the Share Sheet and placing them alongside the new tools.

The iPadOS and macOS versions of Safari are also expected to align further. These new features are purportedly undergoing evaluation alongside internal builds of ‌iOS 18‌ and macOS 15 ahead of their unveiling at Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) in June. Earlier this month, backend code on Apple’s servers suggested that a new Safari browsing assistant is in the works, corroborating this report.

Farther in the future, Apple is said to be working on a more powerful version of Visual Look Up that allows users to obtain information on products when browsing through images. The feature is expected to be released sometime in 2025.

Last week, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman said that ‌iOS 18‌ will “overhaul” many of Apple’s built-in apps, including Notes, Mail, Photos, and Fitness. Apple’s next-generation operating systems are almost certain to be previewed during Apple’s WWDC keynote on June 10, and the updates should be widely released in the fall.
