Ninja Double Stack air fryer review: half the footprint, double the fun

[ad_1]

Ninja Double Stack air fryer: two-minute review

The Ninja Double Stack air fryer demonstrates once again that the brand is king of convection cooking, offering blazing cooking speeds in a clever form factor that serves to address the needs of smaller households and keen cooks the world over. Without a doubt, it’s one of the best air fryers I’ve ever used – and I’ve used a fair few at this point.

Shopping for the perfect air fryer can leave you feeling a bit like Goldilocks, and especially if counter space is at a premium in your kitchen. A two-drawer model like the Instant Vortex 9-quart Air Fryer with VersaZone technology might be perfect for the number of mouths you typically have to feed, but these are typically behemoths. Alternatively, you could opt for one of the best small air fryers, but then these often have a meager, sometimes single-portion only capacity.

It’s been my perennial issue as a single-person household that regularly has guests. My kitchen is fairly compact, so I’ve been incredibly limited for space when I’ve tested larger models like the Ninja Foodi FlexBasket Dual Air Fryer. That’s why since I learned about the Ninja Double Stack air fryer – styled as the DoubleStack in the US – I’ve been itching to get my hands on it.

As the name suggests, the Ninja Double Stack air fryer stacks its two cooking drawers stop one another instead of side by side, as we tend to see in dual-basket air fryers. Instead of a top- or front-mounted dashboard, a small panel juts out to the right side of the device, hosting all the functions and controls you’ll need to operate the Double Stack. Plus, Ninja has even thrown in two extra racks, which can be slotted in above the main crisper plate, giving you bonus surface area to cook with – though the grill spacing makes these far better for larger food items.

2024 iPad Pro and iPad Air ditch the physical SIM slot for good

[ad_1]

The 2024 iPad Air lineup comes in two new colors, blue and purple, in addition to silver and space gray.
Apple’s newest Pro and Air iPads do not feature a physical SIM slot.
Photo: Apple

Following the iPhone’s footsteps, Apple has switched entirely to eSIM on the 2024 iPad Pro and Air. The two tablets’ cellular models lack a physical SIM slot altogether.

With this move, Apple has transitioned two major product categories to eSIMs.

2024 iPad Pro and iPad Air jump on the eSIM bandwagon

In markets outside the US, you can purchase the iPhone 15 Pro series with a physical SIM slot. However, that’s not the case with the new M4 iPad Pros and M2 iPad Airs. Apple’s tablet listing in the EU and the UK only mentions eSIM support and incompatibility with physical SIM cards.

This move from Apple will only help accelerate its transition entirely to eSIM worldwide or at least across major markets.

An eSIM-only option on the iPad makes much more sense than on the iPhone. Once you set up a cellular connection on the tablet, you are unlikely to switch operators soon. Plus, eSIM makes it easy to handle multiple networks while roaming.

However, the lack of a physical SIM slot can be an issue if your operator or MVNO does not support eSIMs. If nothing else, this might force them to speed up their transition to eSIMs.

No Apple stickers with new iPads

The physical SIM slot is not the only thing missing from the 2024 iPads. Apple has also stopped bundling its iconic stickers with them.

While Apple did not discuss this during its “Let Loose” event, it mentioned the change in a memo distributed to Apple Store employees, as seen by 9to5Mac. The report says the company removed the stickers to make the tablet’s packaging plastic-free and reach its environmental goals.

When buying a new iPad Pro or iPad Air, you can request an Apple Store employee for a sticker. Reportedly, Apple is shipping out a small batch of stickers so employees can provide them to customers upon request. But this benefit only appears to be available when you purchase the new iPads directly from an Apple store and not a third-party retailer.

Apple’s New Cellular iPad Air and iPad Pro Models Are eSIM Only

[ad_1]

Apple at its “Let Loose” event today announced new iPad Pro and iPad Air models, and there are smaller changes compared to the previous generation devices that did not get mentioned during the event but are worth knowing about.

https images
One of the differences worth noting is the lack of a physical SIM card slot. On the previous generation models, the cellular versions of both the ‌iPad Air‌ and the ‌iPad Pro‌ included a physical SIM card slot. In the new devices, that’s no longer the case. All cellular models now support eSIM only.

It’s a small but crucial detail for anyone looking to upgrade their iPad while sticking with their current cellular plan. Apple has not divulged the reason why it chose to remove the physical SIM slot, but it could have been a design decision related to making the devices slimmer, or a necessity to keep them slim, given all of the devices’ hardware upgrades.

Either way, the change brings parity to Apple’s latest ‌iPad‌ models and its iPhone, which dropped the physical SIM slot in 2022 with the launch of the iPhone 14.

13-inch iPad Air arrives at Apple’s ‘Let Loose’ event

[ad_1]

Apple Let Loose Event: Apple gave the iPad Air a significant size increase at its “Let Loose” event Tuesday. You can get the new 2024 model with a 13-inch display in addition to the familiar smaller size, now 11 inches instead of 10.9. But no matter the size, the tablet runs an Apple M2 processor and features a front-facing Ultra Wide 12MP camera on the landscape edge and beefed-up speakers.

“Inspired by iPad Pro, where about half the users choose a larger screen, we created a 13-inch model of the new iPad Air, as well,” said Melody Kuna, Apple’s director of iPad Product Design. “[It] has 30% more screen real estate than the 11-inch Air.”

Apple adds 12.9-inch iPad Air and other upgrades

Released at Apple’s “Let Loose” event, these are the first new versions of iPad Air in two years. Version 5 was unveiled at Apple’s March 2022 event. It was the first with an M1 processor.

Despite the multi-year wait, this isn’t a tablet that needs frequent updates so it can stay at the cutting-edge of technology. The iPad Air line is made up of mid-range models, cheaper than iPad Pro but with more features than the budget iPad.

“The larger display gives users more space to express their ideas in apps like Freeform, or to see more participants in a video call on Zoom,” Kuna said. “It also provides more space to view multiple apps using Split View in iPadOS. And both displays have the same advanced features. So all your content looks absolutely gorgeous.”

11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models become even more useful

The new iPad Air comes in a new 13-inch screen size and brings enhanced performance.
Image: Apple

As a mid-range model, iPad Air never offered a screen as large as the biggest iPad Pro. That changed Tuesday. The first 13-inch version joins an 11-inch one in Apple’s lineup.

At the heart of the tablet is an Apple M2 processor, which Apple said is 50% faster than the M1 chip in the 2022 iPad Air and three times faster than iPad Air with the A14 Bionic chip. The new iPad Air increases CPU and GPU speeds and boosts the Neural Engine significantly, Apple said.

Front facing Ultra Wide camera and improved speakers

Additional updates include a front-facing landscape camera with Center Stage to keep everyone in the shot.

“So it’s perfect for connecting with friends and family over FaceTime,” Kuna said. “Or joining a video conference while using a keyboard.”

iPad Air’s 12MP Wide back camera captures high-resolution photos and detailed 4K video with support for 240-fps slo-mo, Apple said.

The new Air also features “landscape stereo speakers with Spatial Audio, so it sounds great,” Kuna added.

The new Air models support Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil models, as well, including the new Apple Pencil Pro.

“Under the hood, the new Air supports Apple Pencil hover for greater precision, letting you preview your mark before you make it,” Kuna noted.

Apple also noted it sped up Wi-Fi speeds with Wi-Fi 6E in the new models. Cellular versions pack 5G networking.

What’s not changing

While the 13-inch iPad Air expanded the options for consumers, it’s not accompanied by a complete redesign. The tablets look much like their predecessors with flat edges and a nearly edge-to-edge screen.

The 2024 models do not use Face ID. Instead, a Touch ID fingerprint scanner is built into the power button on the right edge.

The tablet includes a USB-C port for power and accessories, not a Lightning port. It allows it to use many peripherals designed for Mac, like external hard drives and displays.

Order 2024 iPad Air now

The new iPad Air models are available in space gray and starlight, in addition to new purple and blue finishes. You can choose storage capacities of 128GB (double the starting storage of the M1 iPad Air), 256GB, 512GB or 1TB. The tablets come with Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and Cellular connectivity options. Each tablet comes with a USB-C charging cable and a 20-watt USB-C power adapter.

There’s no delay between today’s announcement and the 2024 iPad Air going on sale: the tablet is available for pre-order now. It will reach customers next week, Apple said.

The new 11-inch model starts at $599 and the new 13-inch base model starts at $799.

Where to buy: Apple

And don’t miss the new 2024 iPad Apple just launched. It’s the first iPadOS model with a gorgeous OLED display.

Hands on: iPad Air 13-inch (2024): You no longer need to go Pro

[ad_1]

If you’re in the market for a larger-screened iPad, you’re no longer locked to spending the extra cash and going Pro. Apple’s iPad Air 6 now comes in two sizes — 11-inch or 13-inch, both with punchy Liquid Retina displays and a speedy Apple M2 chip under the hood.

I had the chance to spend a bit of time with the smaller 11-inch iPad Air and more time with the larger 13-inch iPad Air, and while these tablets are not ultra-thin like the iPad Pro (2024) — and they got less screen time in the keynote — the new iPad Air ushers in a bevy of new features for everyone to get excited about.

iPad Air 2022 vs. iPad Air 2024 Buyer’s Guide: 19 Differences Compared

[ad_1]

Apple’s new iPad Airs arrive almost a year and a half after the previous models, offering almost 20 changes and upgrades.

2022 iPad Air vs 2024 iPad Air Feature
The 2022 iPad Air was a minor upgrade that added features such as the M1 chip and a 12MP Ultra Wide front-facing camera with Center Stage. The 2024 refresh is more substantial, headlining with a larger size option for the first time, bringing it in line with devices like the iPad Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro, which are available in two sizes.

The ‌2022 ‌iPad Air‌ models have now been discontinued by Apple, but they may still be found refurbished and with third-party resellers for lower prices. As such, some customers may be weighing up whether to buy the 2022 ‌‌iPad Air‌ or the new 2024 models.

The ‌iPad‌ Airs from 2022 and 2024 share most of their key features, so should you consider buying or sticking with the older model to save money? This breakdown also serves as a way to clearly see all the differences that the new ‌‌iPad Air‌ brings to the table.

‌iPad Air‌ (2022) ‌iPad Air‌ (2024)
10.9-inch display 11- or 13-inch display
‌M1‌ chip (5nm, N5) M2 chip (5nm enhanced, N5P)

64GB or 256GB storage 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage
Available in Space Gray, Starlight, Pink, Purple, and Blue Available in Space Gray, Starlight, Purple, and Blue

The most important part of the new ‌iPad Air‌ is the larger display size option, which provides a way for customers who don’t need features like ProMotion and a LiDAR scanner to obtain a bigger screen that’s better for productivity and content consumption at a lower price point. Beyond this larger new model, the ‌M2‌ chip, ‌Apple Pencil‌ hover and ‌Apple Pencil‌ Pro support, and landscape front-facing camera are valuable improvements. That being said, it is certainly not essential to upgrade from the previous model to the new ‌iPad Air‌. Unless you have an entry-level ‌iPad‌ or an ‌iPad Air‌ from before 2020, or explicitly want a 13-inch model, it is likely not worth upgrading.

7 Best Clitoral Suction Toys (2024): Suction Vibrators, Air Pulse Toys, and More

[ad_1]

Designed to simulate the sucking or tapping sensation of oral sex, clitoral suction toys are a relatively recent addition to the pantheon of sex toy superstars. Suction toys are a bit of an outlier in the industry—vibrators and dildos have a long and occasionally misogynist history as medical instruments used to induce orgasm as treatment for “hysteria” and “women’s problems.” But suction toys are designed specifically to make you feel good. They were created with sexual pleasure in mind—specifically the sexual pleasure of women and people with vulvas.

Over the years, I’ve tested dozens of suction toys solo and with partners of various gender identities, genitals, and sexual preferences. These are the cream of that particular crop, the absolute best clitoral suction toys on the market.

If you’re interested in other kinds of sex toys, be sure to check our guides including the Best Sex Toys, Best Vibrators, and Best Lubes.

How Do Suction Toys Work?

Smooth white device on pink background

Photograph: Dariia Chernenko/Getty Images

Clitoral suction toys can be a bit of a mystery if you’re unfamiliar with their ins and outs. Vibrators contain motors that provide the vibration by just shaking, but a suction toy is a little more complex.

They work by modulating air pressure with an internal diaphragm. They all have a mouth, and inside that mouth is a (typically) silicone membrane that an internal motor moves in and out. When you press the mouth against your body, it traps the air in there, keeping it from escaping. The movement of the membrane uses that air to create modulating high and low air pressure. Those changes in air pressure create the sucking sensation suction toys are famous for.

Apple May 2024 iPad Event: iPad Pro, iPad Air, M4, Apple Pencil, Magic Keyboard

[ad_1]

Apple’s iPads have been on the back burner since 2022—there have been plenty of iPhones and Macs since, even a mixed reality headset, but it’s been two years since we’ve seen a new tablet. Now the wait is finally over. During its virtual event today, Apple announced the next-generation iPad Pro and iPad Air, an all-new M4 chip, as well as updated accessories.

Here’s everything Apple announced.

If you buy something using links in our stories, we may earn a commission. This helps support our journalism. Learn more.

All-New M4 Chip

Since 2020, Apple has exclusively launched its M-series processors alongside another Mac. That’s no longer the case as Apple unveiled the all-new M4 chipset debuting inside the new iPad Pro.

The new chip is built on a second-generation three-nanometer process, packing more transistors into a smaller space, enhancing both power efficiency and speed. The CPU has four performance cores and six efficiency cores, which Apple says delivers up to 50 percent faster CPU performance than M2 in the previous iPad Pro. There’s also a 10-core GPU for four times faster performance. As with the M3, it comes with features such as ray tracing, mesh shading, and dynamic caching.

The shift in strategy makes sense, seeing as how Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (which focuses on new software capabilities coming to its entire product line) is next month. In April, Bloomberg reported that iOS 18 will include “a new slate of generative AI features” and that Apple was currently in talks with OpenAI to incorporate some of the company’s features into the next version of the iPhone operating system (this is in addition to reports that Apple is also talking to Google about licensing the Gemini assistant).

During its earnings calls, Apple CEO Tim Cook has been hinting at the company’s incoming AI features as well—both in February and, more recently, earlier this month. Although Apple didn’t get into AI-specific features, it’s seemingly laying the AI groundwork with the new M4.

It’s currently only available with the new iPad Pro, but we can expect Apple to implement the chip in the next-generation Macs.

An OLED iPad Pro

The last two versions of the iPad Pro haven’t been all that innovative. In 2021, Apple added an M1 chip and a mini-LED display; in 2022, it came with an M2 chip, ProRes video capture, and support for Wi-Fi 6E. The latest iPad Pro, however, packs the largest number of notable upgrades we’ve seen in a while.

New iPad preorders – where to buy Apple’s 2024 Pro and Air tablets

[ad_1]

Apple has announced a new iPad Pro and iPad Air at its latest big reveal event – and both devices are available to preorder now. I’ve gathered together where you can buy these new tablets right here, including all of the top preorder deals for the brand-new iPad Pro and iPad Air.

Let’s start with the iPad Pro (2024). This model is available in either 11 inches or 13 inches with up to 2TB of storage and prices start at $999 / £999. That’s $200 more than the base price for both previous-generation models, but you do get the brand-new M4 chip, high-quality tandem OLED display and twice as much storage (256GB) as standard.

Meanwhile, the new iPad Air 6 also has 11-inch and 13-inch models with storage starting at 128GB. Prices start at $599 / £599 for the 11-inch version and $799 / £799 for the 13-inch – that’s the same as the last generation model. In terms of new features, the latest iPad Air is powered by the M2 chip for up to 50% faster performance compared to the M1.

Both devices are available to order right now and will ship from May 15. Currently, I’m only seeing them direct from Apple, but you can check in regularly for all the latest retailer availability below. I’ll be here to share any of the best preorder deals we see – if any – over the coming days.

iPad Pro and iPad Air preorders in the US

iPad Pro and iPad Air preorders in the UK

With the new iPad Pro and iPad Air on the way, we could be about to see some big discounts on the previous models for those after a bargain. We’re always on the lookout for the best iPad deals here at TechRadar so will share any we spot.

And considering Apple also confirmed that the iPad 10.9 is now going to start at the much cheaper price of $349, that could be a bargain pickup when it goes on sale. It’s one we’ll keep an eye on in this month’s Memorial Day sales.
