Bolsonaro Resurfaces In Orlando, Vowing To Stay In Politics

(Bloomberg) — Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro told supporters he's not done yet after returning from exile in Florida.

At an event in Orlando on Tuesday filled with prayers and patriotic signs, he appealed to a captive audience ahead of the biennial midterm elections.

It was Bolsonaro's first public speech since leaving Brazil and made it clear that he wanted to fan the political flames. His opponent, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who came to the United States on a diplomatic passport, has now passed the deadline by applying for a tourist visa.

"I'm 67 years old and I want to be active in Brazilian politics," he said, raising questions about the country's next presidential race in 2026.

Back home, Bolsonaro has faced multiple investigations, including allegations that he had a hand in the Jan. 8 uprising after his supporters refused to accept Lula's defeat in the Oct. 8 election. US officials do not know how to deal with what has become a diplomatic headache for President Joe Biden.

In his speech, the former conservative president did not say when he would visit the country. "I've been here for 30 days and I want to stay a little longer."

Bolsonaro, who lives a few hours away from the home of his good friend and former President Donald Trump, will be in the United States on February 10 to welcome Lula to the White House.

At the same time, the optics of Bolsonaro and Lula in the country, disturbing parallels with those who deny the election and attack democracy, pose problems for the administration.

Bolsonaro's return to Brazil will also be a difficult one for Lula's administration, as he could become a political martyr depending on how the courts handle the charges against him.

Bolsonaro going down would be one thing, but he has effectively returned. He announced that he will be leaving at the end of January. do not Now he tells his followers that he is far from a weakened political force, but he does so from afar.

For example, the former president sided with former cabinet member Rogerio Marinho's bid to take part in Wednesday's crucial election for the Senate.

"I hope there will be people who oppose Lula in the new Congress," he told the audience, which paid $10 to $50 for tickets to hear him speak. Marinho is trying to defeat the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, who is running for re-election.

And all signs appear to be a growing gathering place with the right name. On February 3, he will be at another rally at one of Trump's golf courses in Miami.

In this case, the event was organized by Phoenix-based Turning Point USA, which describes itself as "a platform for freedom, free markets and limited government to stand up to the radical left."

Review: ’80 For Brady’ Is A Sports Film Fumble For The Ages

Review: '80 For Brady' Is A Sports Film Fumble For The Ages

Tom Brady officially and ultimately insisted on leaving the National Football League. Based on the new 80's movie for Brady, it's also time for him to retire from the game immediately.

No one walks away in glory in this gritty, frivolous tale of four old friends determined to lead Brady to a stunning 2017 Super Bowl victory.

Four of our best actresses – Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field – are sacrificed for cheap laughs and undeserved humor. And Brady, the executive producer, cheats on one of his biggest wins. That whistle that you hear in the theater is not lost air, but a pumped-up audience.

Screenwriters Sarah Haskins and Emily Halpern seem to have opened the door to exploring loss, commitment, and regret in our twilight years, but they're wrong, and Grandma accepts it and wanders into random edible territory.

This exhibition includes the EGOT winner, multiple Academy Awards, Tony and Emmy Awards, the Mark Twain Award for American Humor, the Kennedy Center Award, and the Cecil B. DeMille Award. But they are completely lost. At some point, Field had to enter an unnecessary wing-eating contest.

There's nothing wrong with watching movies with friends or celebrating age on screen, and it's nice to see them together. But don't tell us you're empowering seniors by doing the twist dance to get through Super Bowl security. Add to that an extreme insult to Diane Keaton in last year's Mac. & Rita" and we call on Hollywood to ban people over 70 from losing 15 feet.

Based very, very loosely on true events, the film is so light in plot that it threatens to float away. It takes a few extra minutes to shuffle tickets, but the logic doesn't work like the time our heroes found four vacant seats in a row at the start of the Super Bowl.

Brady is invariably portrayed as benevolent, either by moving his head talking to Tomlin's character or simply listening to the conversation on the TV screen. “Everything will be fine,” he promises.

Each of our leading ladies has a note worth expanding on: Fonda is obsessed with nerdy, boyish erotic fanfiction writer Rob Gronkowski. Veld is reasonable, responsible. The new widower Moreno is ready for any adventure, and Tomlin is the link between them.

When one of the quartets fears a recurrence of cancer, Brady becomes their beacon, asking them to make a bust as a prayer. “He never gives up no matter what he faces,” he says. You can expect a glowing halo to appear above Brady's head.

Director Kyle Marvin fails to create any real tension as he swings wildly from slapstick to melancholy, but real shots of the big game are beautifully woven into the second half. The message here is simple: when you fall, dig deep and take action. In other words, have the courage to go see another movie.

At some point, the film simply becomes a brand event, like the Microsoft Surface and NFL Experience for a theme park. “This is better than my wildest dreams,” one of our great actors is forced to say, dropping the s. When all four enter the skybox later in the game, one of them helpfully explains, "You can see everything!" Yes, you can see the amazing letter from here.

This is a movie that was supposed to make people happy in the 70s and 80s, but it has jokes, jokes and Pat Sage. Billy Porter, Sarah Gilbert and Guy Fieri are great in small roles, but the main characters are busy with what can only be considered extracurricular activities for older people.

80 for Brady, a Paramount Pictures release only released on February 3, is rated PG-13 for brief profanity, drug content, and obscene references. Duration: 98 minutes. Half star out of four.

New Analog Quantum Computers To Solve Previously Unsolvable Problems

New Analog Quantum Computers To Solve Previously Unsolvable Problems

Physicists have discovered a new type of analog quantum computer that can solve complex physics problems that the most powerful digital supercomputers can't solve.

A new study published in the journal Nature Physics by scientists from Stanford University in the US and University College Dublin (UCD) in Ireland has shown that a new type of highly specialized analog computer with quantum elements in its circuits can solve advanced tasks. . . of quantum physics, which did not exist before. If upgraded, such devices could shed light on some of the most important unsolved problems in physics.

For example, scientists and engineers have long wanted to better understand superconductivity because existing superconducting materials, such as those used in MRI machines, bullet trains and energy-saving long-distance networks, currently only work at very low temperatures. , limiting widespread use. The holy grail of materials science is finding materials that have superconductivity at room temperature, which will revolutionize their use in many technologies.

Dr Andrew Mitchell is a theoretical physicist at the UCD Center for Quantum Engineering, Science and Technology (C-QuEST), UCD School of Physics, and co-author of the paper.

He said: "Some problems are too complex for even the fastest digital classical computers to solve. An important example is the detailed modeling of complex quantum materials such as high-temperature superconductors; such calculations are beyond our current capabilities. Realistic models are required to simulate properties. "Exponential Computing Time and Memory Requirements”.

“However, technological and engineering advances that have led to the digital revolution have resulted in an unprecedented ability to control matter at the nanoscale. This has allowed us to build specialized analog computers called "quantum simulators" that solve precise models in quantum physics. , exploiting the properties of quantum mechanics inherent in its nanoscale components, has developed analog devices with quantum components that can solve some of the problems of quantum physics."

The architecture of these new quantum devices consists of a metal-semiconductor hybrid embedded in a nanoelectronic circuit developed by researchers at Stanford, UCD and the Department of Energy's SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (Stanford). Stanford's Experimental Nanotechnology, led by Professor David Goldhaber-Gordon, built and operated the device, while UCD's Dr Mitchell did the theory and modelling.

Professor Goldhaber-Gordon, a researcher at Stanford's Institute for Materials and Energy Science, said: "We always create mathematical models that we hope will capture the essence of the phenomenon we are interested in, but if we think so, it is correct.", often within a reasonable time. cannot be resolved."

With the quantum simulator, 'we have a handle that we've never had before,' says Professor Goldhaber-Gordon.

Why analog?

According to Goldhaber-Gordon, the basic idea behind these analog devices is to create some kind of hardware analog of the problem you want to solve, rather than writing computer code for a programmable digital computer. For example, suppose you want to predict the motions of planets in the night sky and the timing of eclipses. You can do this by building a mechanical model of the solar system, where one turns a knob and interlocking spinning gears represent the motions of the moon and planets.

In fact, this process was found in an ancient shipwreck near a Greek island that is over 2,000 years old. This device can be considered as one of the first analog computers.

Until it exploded, the analog machine of the 20th century. They were used until the late 20th century for mathematical calculations that were too complex for the most advanced digital computers of the time.

But to solve the problems of quantum physics, the device must have quantum components. The new quantum simulator architecture consists of electronic circuits with nanoscale components whose properties are governed by the laws of quantum mechanics. It is important to note that many of these components can be created, each of which functions essentially the same as the others.

This is crucial for analog simulations of quantum matter, where each electronic component of the circuit is a substitute for a simulated atom and "behaves like an artificial atom". Just as different atoms of the same type in a substance behave in the same way, so the different electronic components of an analog computer must behave in the same way.

The new design therefore offers a unique way to scale the technology from single devices to large networks capable of simulating quantum matter. The researchers also showed that new microscopic quantum interactions could be implemented in such devices. The work is a step toward developing a new generation of scalable solid-state analog quantum computers.

The first quanta

To demonstrate the power of analog quantum computing with their new quantum simulator platform, the researchers first analyzed a simple circuit with two quantum elements connected to each other.

The device simulates a model of two atoms connected by a special quantum interaction. By controlling the electrical energy, the researchers were able to create a new state of matter where the electrons appear to have only 1/3 of their normal electrical charge, the so-called 'Z3 parafermion'. These elusive states have been proposed as the basis for future topological quantum computing, but have never been created in electronic devices in the laboratory.

'By scaling the two-material quantum simulator to the nanoscale, we hope to be able to simulate much more complex systems that modern computers cannot handle,' said Dr. Mitchell. "This could be the first step towards finally solving the most amazing mystery of our quantum universe."

AMC Entertainment Sells Stake In Saudi Arabia Theater Venture To Local Partner For $30 Million

AMC Entertainment Sells Stake In Saudi Arabia Theater Venture To Local Partner For $30 Million
© Posted last day

AMC Entertainment said it will buy Saudi Entertainment Ventures' (SEVEN) investment in the film industry, Saudi Cinema Company, for $30 million.

AMC said the deal required a transition from a management and investment role in SCC to a "pure licensing relationship." Existing AMC Theaters and future venues operated by SCC will retain the AMC Cinemas name and other intellectual property under the license agreement.

The deal began in 2017, AMC signed a non-binding MoU with the Saudi Arabian State Investment Fund to host theatrical exhibitions in the Kingdom for the first time since the 1980s. In the year 2018, AMC held the first screening country cinema in Riyadh's King Abdullah financial district. Partnered with Saudi Entertainment Ventures to establish SCC to develop and operate multiple outlets across the Kingdom.

Over the next four years, AMC partnered with SEVEN to open 12 more locations, work in development, manage the business during Covid, and hire and train theater, management, and corporate operations staff.

"The association had two goals when it was created. First, to bring the films to the people of Saudi Arabia. Second, but not least, to train the management of the cinema and the corporate team so that in the future the company can be managed locally in the UK More than five years after we moved to Saudi Arabia and opened the first theater there It's been almost five years since this point, and this announcement and deal is the natural next step in that process.

"We have great faith in the team running these theaters and taking them to the next level as we envisioned when we started. We look forward to continuing our relationship with SCC and the wonderful people at SEVEN to bring the AMC movie experience to Saudi Arabia." public for years to come," he said.

Selena Gomez Hits Back At Haters Who Comment On Her Shaky Hands: See Her Response

The same answer! Selena Gomez responds to haters commenting on her handshake.

In a since-deleted TikTok makeup tutorial, fans noted that Selena, 30, felt a slight tingle when she applied micellar water to her lips.

The Only Murders in the Building star responded to the comments by reminding her followers of her lupus diagnosis. In 2014, Selena was diagnosed with a chronic disease that causes inflammation and pain in the body.

"Hahaha lupus meds give me the creeps," Selena wrote in the comments section of another TikTok video addressing her past jitters. She then poked fun at her makeup skills, adding, “Also please read my disclaimer. I'm not a professional."

Since going public with her lupus diagnosis in 2015, the "Rare" singer has been open about her condition. In 2017, he underwent a kidney transplant due to lupus.

“Once I had the kidney, my arthritis went away,” he told HOY in 2015 about his procedure. “There is a three to five percent chance that my lupus will come back. My blood pressure has improved. My energy and my life are improving.

The Wizards of Waverly Place alum recently opened up about how lupus affects her physical and mental health on a daily basis in her documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me.

"I haven't felt this since I was a kid," he said in the 2022 documentary. "When I woke up in the morning, I cried because it hit everything."

Selena explained that her hand was shaking a month after reacting to a TikTok video comparing her weight during her past relationship with ex- boyfriend Justin Bieber to how she looks today.

"The reason Selena is always skinny is because she's dating Justin," the user wrote in a video compilation from December 11, 2022, which features several photos of the Texas native post-workout. The clip appears to be an old comment from the "Hands to Myself" singer who ends by saying that Justin, 28, "would rather be dating a model."

The Disney Channel alum showed her disapproval by responding on TikTok with a sad face emoji. While many fans speculated that her reaction meant she was offended by the comments about her body, others wondered if the speculation was true.

Selena and the "Baby" singer dated from 2011 to 2018. Justin later married Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin) in September 2018.
