Here’s a good deal if you need a big chunk of storage space for a Nintendo Switch, Raspberry Pi or any other device that still accepts microSD cards: The 1TB version of Lexar’s Professional 1066x card is now down to $76.49 on Amazon. That’s the lowest price we’ve tracked for this model and roughly $9 off the card’s typical street price. The discount comes as part of a wider sale on Lexar storage gear that started on Sunday for World Backup Day, a commemorative date that intends to raise awareness about data protection and preservation. (Seagate, Crucial and other storage manufacturers are still running sales as well.)
Lexar
This is the lowest price we’ve seen for this recommended 1TB microSD card.
The Professional 1066x is not a formal pick in our microSD card buying guide, as it’s a bit slower than our top choices, Samsung’s Pro Plus and Pro Ultimate, particularly in terms of sequential read speeds (which matter when you want to access large files stored on the card). Still, neither of those cards are available in a 1TB capacity — the Pro Plus will be, but not until later this year — and the Lexar model wasn’t drastically far behind in our benchmark tests. For devices like the Switch or Steam Deck that cap microSD cards to standard UHS-I speeds, or even for capturing 4K video more casually, it’ll be good enough. We’ll note that there are some 1TB cards available for less, but among the models we’ve tested, this is a solid value for those who need a high capacity above all else.
If you need a standard SD card, meanwhile, this sale also brings the SD version of the 1TB Professional 1066x down to $110. That’s another all-time low and about $15 off that model’s usual going rate.
The Apple TV+ comedy Palm Royale shot to near the top of the streaming ratings charts immediately after its debut.
And the crime-drama Manhunt also continues to draw a large audience on Apple’s streaming service.
Apple TV+ for the win
Apple TV+ is one of the smaller streaming services, but keeps producing shows with outsize popularity. That includes Severance and Ted Lassothat pull in enough viewers to become cultural phenomena.
Emmy and Oscar nominee Kristen Wiig created plenty of funny characters on Saturday Night Live and in movies like Bridesmaids. Now she stars in Palm Royale, which premiered on Apple TV+ on March 20.
The series ranks No. 5 on ReelGood’s list of Top 10 TV shows on streaming during the week ending March 27. And it’s at No. 7 on JustWatch‘s list of top streaming shows for the week ending March 24.
Palm Royale did well last week, as did Manhunt . Photo: JustWatch/ReelGood
Estimates from companies like JustWatch and Reelgood are necessary because streaming services rarely reveal how many people watch their offerings.
Apple says of its new comedy:
“Palm Royale is a true underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons (Wiig) as she endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, Palm Royale asks the same question that still baffles us today: “How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?” Set during the powder keg year of 1969, Palm Royale is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.”
It has some amazing acting talent, with the cast including Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Mindy Cohn, Bruce Dern and the iconic Carol Burnett.
Apple TV+ has found success with historical dramas recently, and that includes Manhunt ever since its March 15 launch.
The series ranks No. 8 on the ReelGoods list of Top 10 TV shows on streaming last week, while it’s at No. 9 on the JustWatch list of top streaming series.
History tells us that stage actor John Wilkes Booth (played in the Apple TV+ series by Anthony Boyle) went on the run for 12 days after he shot Lincoln in the back of the head at Ford’s Theatre in 1865.
Apple says of its new show:
“Manhunt is a conspiracy thriller about one of the best known but least understood crimes in history, the astonishing story of the hunt for John Wilkes Booth in the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.”
The first four episodes are available to watch now on Apple TV+. The fifth will premiere next week.
Watch now on Apple TV+
Watching Palm Royale or any of these other series or films comes with a subscription to Apple TV+. The service is $9.99 per month with a seven-day free trial. You can also get it via any tier of the Apple One subscription bundle.
And Apple’s streaming video service also includes much more, of course. There are comedies, musicals, children’s shows, nature documentaries, etc.
Fresh off its announced acquisition by Walmart, Vizio has dropped news of a new 86-inch TV, the biggest screen yet to appear from the US-based TV maker.
Ultra-large TVs are nothing unusual, with the best 85-inch TVs now starting to seem small compared to the 98-inch and even larger models that many brands rolled out at CES 2024. What is unusual about Vizio’s new 86-inch TV is its price: $999. That’s not much more than the 65-inch Vizio M-Series QX model I reviewed in late 2022, and it’s a stone-cold bargain for a TV of this size.
The new 86-inch model tops off the company’s 4K TV series, which features screens in other sizes ranging from 43 inches to 75 inches. It has a full-array LED display and supports the Dolby Vision and HDR10+ high dynamic range formats. The TV’s native refresh rate is 60Hz, but gaming at 120fps is possible when played at 1080p resolution, and there’s also support for ALLM, VRR, and Dolby Vision gaming.
DTS:X audio processing is onboard, which typically includes a virtual surround sound option. The new 4K TV also comes with a Vizio Voice remote control with a built-in mic, works with Alexa and Google voice assistants, and supports AirPlay2 and Chromecast for streaming from a phone or tablet.

Big and cheap… but good?
Low-priced large TVs are becoming more common, with even premium brands like Samsung offering affordable 85-inch sets (and now 98-inch ones for 2024). But as we saw when we tested the Samsung CU8000 in a 75-inch screen size, the picture quality of these more basic TVs can be lacking in key areas, especially when it comes to contrast and black uniformity.
Picture quality shortcomings in lower-cost TVs can often be connected to the backlight technology used. Pricier models typically have a full array LED or mini-LED backlight with local dimming, which evenly distributes the lighting across the screen and boosts contrast. But the Samsung CU8000’s basic, edge-lit backlight caused deep blacks to appear as more of an elevated gray tone, and for highlights in movies with HDR to look comparatively dull.
That’s not to say Vizio’s 86-inch TV will suffer the same shortcomings. It does feature a full-array LED backlight, but there was no mention of local dimming in either the press release Vizio shared with us, or in the product listing on the company’s website.

Other budget TV brands such as TCL and Hisense also sell 85-inch models for under $1,000, and like Vizio’s 86-incher, these use basic LED backlights with no local dimming. TechRadar hasn’t tested these models, but it’s unlikely that they’d provide the same level of performance as mini-LED TVs such as the TCL QM8 and Hisense U8K, models ranking among the best TVs for combining picture quality with value.
Both those TVs with an 85-inch screen size cost roughly twice as much as the new 86-inch Vizio. And while we can’t say if the company’s new top 4K TV can rival the TCL and Hisense mini-LEDs without first completing a full review, if it comes anywhere close it will be an incredible value at $999. At the very least, it has an inch of screen size on the competition.
With Adobe Summit 2024 kicking off, the company has revealed a host of AI features for marketers, CX teams, content creators, and designers.
We’re not surprised to see Adobe go hard with AI after the big reveal of Adobe Firefly at last year’s event. And, in 2024, it goes a lot further than just AI art generation in Photoshop with a major focus on brand management.
Missed the opening keynote? These are the top updates you need to know about from Adobe.
Adobe Firefly Services and Custom Models
The all-new Firefly Services and Custom Models are available right now, giving users the ability to automate processes and create brand-aligned assets.
Firefly Services is a set of APIs, tools, and services that let users in creative and marketing teams automate repetitive tasks. Custom Models now let businesses train AI models on their existing assets to ensure brand-specific AI content generation. Already commercially safe, the resulting assets will adhere to brand guidelines.
Most exciting – look out for audio, video, and 3D generation later this year.
Sign up to the TechRadar Pro newsletter to get all the top news, opinion, features and guidance your business needs to succeed!
Structure Reference
A new capability comes to Adobe Firefly – and it’s a serious game-changer for AI content production. The Firefly web app already features the incredibly useful and clever Style Reference. This lets users upload, for example, an image of a car, and the AI generates other cars.
Structure Reference is a similar tool. Drag and drop an image into the app, and Firefly will produce new content based on the image’s structure (think composition, lighting, subject pose). Having seen it in action, if you’ve ever tried – and perhaps failed – to recapture the magic of a certain shot, this one has real utility.
Adobe GenStudio
GenStudio is Adobe’s latest innovation for marketers. An all-in-one hub where users can manage content creation, content hub, campaigns, activation, and insights in what’s dubbed “a single source of truth” for brand consistency across an organisation.
During the show, we saw a demo of GenStudio in action, taking us from content ideation to multi-channel assets in minutes. In operation, it’s undeniably quick and impressive. Effectively, Adobe wants this space to offer everything for marketers to find, create, store, and measure assets.

Adobe Experience Platform
The customer experience is never far from thought at Adobe Summit. So, we’re not surprised to see Adobe Experience Platform get some updates. Top among these is the AI Assistant, which helps deliver data-fuelled insights, campaign creation, and more. During the keynote, we’re told to think of the AI assistant as a “data guru, analytics maestro.” Alongside this, Adobe Experience Manager gets some updates with the new Content Hub, a library to quickly find and re-use assets, plus AI and performance tools.
For the data-conscious, Federated Audience Composition will be huge. According to Adobe, this means “enables brands to make high value data residing in enterprise data warehouses actionable within customer experience workflows, while minimising the need to move or copy data into Adobe applications.” The idea here is to streamline the user experience, while delivering data security.
Microsoft 365 partnership
Adobe and Microsoft have long been close, so this new partnership might not come as a huge surprise. But it’s certainly a powerful one – the ability to view Adobe Experience Cloud workflows and insights, and Dynamics 365 data within Microsoft Copilot, and apps like Outlook and Word.
“By integrating contextual marketing insights from Adobe Experience Cloud applications and Dynamics 365 within the flow of work through Copilot for Microsoft 365, we deliver on our shared goal while helping marketers streamline their efforts, break down barriers and deliver exceptional results,” said Jared Spataro, corporate vice president, AI at Work, Microsoft.
The company said the initial offerings will focus on marketers working across teams and campaigns, but expect this one to grow.
Find out what your current iPhone is missing vs. the latest model with Apple’s Reasons to Upgrade tool. Screenshot: Apple
Apple has added a dedicated section on its website showcasing reasons to upgrade to the latest iPhone. You can select your current iPhone in the tool and see what you are missing compared to the latest iPhone.
The page encourages you to upgrade to the newest iPhone and highlights the trade-in credit you can get.
You can only compare selected iPhones
Interestingly, the tool does not allow you to compare the iPhone 13 or 14 to the iPhone 15. Instead, you are limited to the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 series. They are also the oldest iPhones listed on the page. You can go through our iPhone 13 Pro vs. iPhone 15 Pro comparison if you need help deciding whether to upgrade or not.
Apple does not showcase the specs difference between the two selected iPhones. Instead, it highlights the improvements that a common user can easily understand.
For example, comparing the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 15 Pro highlights the latter’s ability to capture images with up to 4x the resolution for more detail and color. Similarly, the newer iPhone provides twice the storage and offers 2x and 3x telephoto zoom for more framing flexibility.
Other improvements highlighted include 4K Dolby Vision video recording, USB-C, superfast 5G, Dynamic Island and longer battery life.
Towards the bottom, the page highlights how you can save money on your new iPhone by trading in your existing iPhone. Additionally, you can use an Apple Card to make interest-free monthly payments. Carrier deals can also save you up to $1,000 in bill credits.
Reasons to Upgrade tool is currently US-exclusive
The Reasons to Upgrade tool is only available on Apple’s US website. You can directly access it from here. If you were on the fence about upgrading to iPhone 15, check out Apple’s tool to get an overview of all the improvements you will enjoy.
You may already be familiar with the brand Anker if you’ve purchased power banks or other battery-charging devices for your favorite electronics in recent years. Did you know that this popular brand for charging smart devices can also power your entire home? Anker’s SOLIX line of portable power stations and accessories are versatile and affordable while providing a higher cost-performance ratio than similar power stations from the competition.
Portable power stations can be useful for providing access to electrical connectivity during camping trips, help you reduce the cost of your utility bills by embracing solar power, or providing potentially life-saving battery backup in emergencies. Anker has a solution to fit your power output needs.
Going off-grid with Anker SOLIX
When we think of going off-grid, most of us think of rugged living in the woods, surviving off the land without modern utilities and amenities. While some of that is true for some off-grid folks, others prefer to keep amenities like hot showers and internet connectivity. Those things require an electrical current, though. The most common way to overcome the need for electricity without shelling out big bucks to join your neighborhood power grid is to utilize solar power.
With the Anker SOLIX F3800 portable power station, tapping into the natural resource of sunlight to power your home has never been easier or more affordable. Anker SOLIX portable power stations are designed to be a plug-and-play power solution for your home. When combined with Anker SOLIX portable solar panels, the portable power station is capable of 2400W of solar input, charging from 0 to 80% with as little as 1.5 hours of sunlight. Anker even offers an additional expansion battery, capable of pushing the SOLIX F3800 unit from its standard 3,840Wh up to an impressive 7,680Wh of power for your off-grid home.
Because the Anker SOLIX is portable, it’s also an excellent generation solution for camping trips and RVs. Traditional gas-powered generators are loud and unsafe to use near your campsite. They exhaust smoke and fumes and overall can lessen the enjoyment of a quiet retreat to nature. The SOLIX power station, on the other hand, is significantly quieter when in use, and provides clean, sustainable energy without fumes or reliance on fossil fuels.
Disaster preparedness with Anker SOLIX
Sometimes nature is a wonderful and relaxing escape from the daily grind, but some days nature has an ax to grind. When nature flares up, dangerous storms can cause troublesome power outages that can vary from inconvenient to life-threatening. You’ll want a powerful generator that can take over from the grid and continue to supply your home with the electricity you need to get through the storm. The SOLIX F3800 power station is strong enough to provide all the electricity you need for your entire home. Yes, that even includes your 240v electronics like stoves and dryers.
Anker utilizes advanced GaNPrime technology and pairs it with LiFePO4 batteries so that SOLIX F3800 power station is a reliable, long-lasting, and easy-to-use power supply solution when you find yourself in an emergency. With the SOLIX, you are in control and can choose to manually convert to your stored energy when the lights go out. Or, set it and forget it with the powerful and customizable app. The SOLIX F3800 can seamlessly transition between the power grid and backup power solutions during outages.
Buy now and save even more
Paired with expandable battery banks and solar power panels, the Anker SOLIX F3800 power station can save you money on your utility bills in the long term. You don’t have to wait to start saving with the SOLIX F3800, however. You can save an additional $100 on your new power backup system by using the code ASSF3800 when you purchase a SOLIX F3800 Portable Power Station from Anker. That makes the price for peace of mind and disaster preparedness security just $2999 with free shipping.
We’re getting closer to the launch of new iPad Pro and iPad Air models, while rumors about iOS 18 are continuing to ramp up with this week’s surprise revelation that Apple has been talking to Google and others about potentially helping power the generative AI features expected to be a major part of this year’s update.
Other news this week saw the release of iOS 17.4.1 and iPadOS 17.4.1 updates with bug fixes, but we’re still awaiting an update to address some of the problems introduced in macOS 14.4 earlier this month. We’ve also been continuing to keep our eye on the iPhone 16 lineup due in September and upcoming AirPods updates, so read on for details on all of these stories!
iOS 18: Apple in Talks With Google to Bring Gemini AI Features to iPhone
iOS 18 is widely rumored to include new generative AI features for Siri and a range of built-in Apple apps on the iPhone, including Messages, Apple Music, Health, Shortcuts, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, and others.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 16 series in September.
macOS Sonoma 14.4: Reasons Not to Update
Since Apple unveiled macOS Sonoma 14.4 earlier this month, the transition to the latest software update has not been entirely smooth for everyone, and a number of issues have been reported by users that significantly impact their daily workflow.
If you anticipate that any of these problems could significantly impact your daily operations or productivity, it may be prudent to delay updating to the latest version of macOS Sonoma until Apple addresses these concerns with a subsequent fix.
The MacRumors Show: Apple’s Four Upcoming AirPods Models
On the latest episode of The MacRumors Show podcast, our hosts Hartley Charlton and Dan Barbera discussed circulating rumors on four upcoming models of AirPods, including two variants of fourth-generation AirPods, a very minor refresh of the AirPods Max, and next-generation AirPods Pro.
Last week’s episode saw Dan and Harley discussing whether the next-generation iPad Air models will be a big enough upgrade for customers. Apple is expected to release a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air, but no major design changes are expected for the mid-range tablet. Key new features expected include the M2 chip and a landscape front camera.

Porn bots are more or less ingrained in the social media experience, despite platforms’ best efforts to stamp them out. We’ve grown accustomed to seeing them flooding the comments sections of memes and celebrities’ posts, and, if you have a public account, you’ve probably noticed them watching and liking your stories. But their behavior keeps changing ever so slightly to stay ahead of automated filters, and now things are starting to get weird.
While porn bots at one time mostly tried to lure people in with suggestive or even overtly raunchy hook lines (like the ever-popular, “DON’T LOOK at my STORY, if you don’t want to MASTURBATE!”), the approach these days is a little more abstract. It’s become common to see bot accounts posting a single, inoffensive, completely-irrelevant-to-the-subject word, sometimes accompanied by an emoji or two. On one post I stumbled across recently, five separate spam accounts all using the same profile picture — a closeup of a person in a red thong spreading their asscheeks — commented, “Pristine 🌿,” “Music 🎶,” “Sapphire 💙,” “Serenity 😌” and “Faith 🙏.”
Another bot — its profile picture a headless frontal shot of someone’s lingerie-clad body — commented on the same meme post, “Michigan 🌟.” Once you’ve noticed them, it’s hard not to start keeping a mental log of the most ridiculous instances. “🦄agriculture” one bot wrote. On another post: “terror 🌟” and “😍🙈insect.” The bizarre one-word comments are everywhere; the porn bots, it seems, have completely lost it.
Really, what we’re seeing is the emergence of another avoidance maneuver scammers use to help their bots slip by Meta’s detection technology. That, and they might be getting a little lazy.
Screenshots by Engadget
“They just want to get into the conversation, so having to craft a coherent sentence probably doesn’t make sense for them,” Satnam Narang, a research engineer for the cybersecurity company Tenable, told Engadget. Once scammers get their bots into the mix, they can have other bots pile likes onto those comments to further elevate them, explains Narang, who has been investigating social media scams since the MySpace days.
Using random words helps scammers fly under the radar of moderators who may be looking for particular keywords. In the past, they’ve tried methods like putting spaces or special characters between every letter of words that might be flagged by the system. “You can’t necessarily ban an account or take an account down if they just comment the word ‘insect’ or ‘terror,’ because it’s very benign,” Narang said. “But if they’re like, ‘Check my story,’ or something… that might flag their systems. It’s an evasion technique and clearly it’s working if you’re seeing them on these big name accounts. It’s just a part of that dance.”
That dance is one social media platforms and bots have been doing for years, seemingly to no end. Meta has said it stops millions of fake accounts from being created on a daily basis across its suite of apps, and catches “millions more, often within minutes after creation.” Yet spam accounts are still prevalent enough to show up in droves on high traffic posts and slip into the story views of even users with small followings.
The company’s most recent transparency report, which includes stats on fake accounts it’s removed, shows Facebook nixed over a billion fake accounts last year alone, but currently offers no data for Instagram. “Spammers use every platform available to them to deceive and manipulate people across the internet and constantly adapt their tactics to evade enforcement,” a Meta spokesperson said. “That is why we invest heavily in our enforcement and review teams, and have specialized detection tools to identify spam.”
Screenshot by Engadget
Last December, Instagram rolled out a slew of tools aimed at giving users more visibility into how it’s handling spam bots and giving content creators more control over their interactions with these profiles. Account holders can now, for example, bulk-delete follow requests from profiles flagged as potential spam. Instagram users may also have noticed the more frequent appearance of the “hidden comments” section at the bottom of some posts, where comments flagged as offensive or spam can be relegated to minimize encounters with them.
“It’s a game of whack-a-mole,” said Narang, and scammers are winning. “You think you’ve got it, but then it just pops up somewhere else.” Scammers, he says, are very adept at figuring out why they got banned and finding new ways to skirt detection accordingly.
One might assume social media users today would be too savvy to fall for obviously bot-written comments like “Michigan 🌟,” but according to Narang, scammers’ success doesn’t necessarily rely on tricking hapless victims into handing over their money. They’re often participating in affiliate programs, and all they need is to get people to visit a website — usually branded as an “adult dating service” or the like — and sign up for free. The bots’ “link in bio” typically directs to an intermediary site hosting a handful of URLs that may promise XXX chats or photos and lead to the service in question.
Scammers can get a small amount of money, say a dollar or so, for every real user who makes an account. In the off chance that someone signs up with a credit card, the kickback would be much higher. “Even if one percent of [the target demographic] signs up, you’re making some money,” Narang said. “And if you’re running multiple, different accounts and you have different profiles pushing these links out, you’re probably making a decent chunk of change.” Instagram scammers are likely to have spam bots on TikTok, X and other sites too, Narang said. “It all adds up.”
Screenshot by Engadget
The harms from spam bots go beyond whatever headaches they may ultimately cause the few who have been duped into signing up for a sketchy service. Porn bots primarily use real people’s photos that they’ve stolen from public profiles, which can be embarrassing once the spam account starts friend requesting everyone the depicted person knows (speaking from personal experience here). The process of getting Meta to remove these cloned accounts can be a draining effort.
Their presence also adds to the challenges that real content creators in the sex and sex-related industries face on social media, which many rely on as an avenue to connect with wider audiences but must constantly fight with to keep from being deplatformed. Imposter Instagram accounts can rack up thousands of followers, funneling potential visitors away from the real accounts and casting doubt on their legitimacy. And real accounts sometimes get flagged as spam in Meta’s hunt for bots, putting those with racy content even more at risk of account suspension and bans.
Unfortunately, the bot problem isn’t one that has any easy solution. “They’re just continuously finding new ways around [moderation], coming up with new schemes,” Narang said. Scammers will always follow the money and, to that end, the crowd. While porn bots on Instagram have evolved to the point of posting nonsense to avoid moderators, more sophisticated bots chasing a younger demographic on TikTok are posting somewhat believable commentary on Taylor Swift videos, Narang says.
The next big thing in social media will inevitably emerge sooner or later, and they’ll go there too. “As long as there’s money to be made,” Narang said, “there’s going to be incentives for these scammers.”
A firmware update out for AirTag has begun gradually rolling out. You’ll probably want it, but it turns out that updating the software for Apple’s item tracker is both easy and hard. You don’t have to jump through hoops, but neither do you have much control.
Here’s what you need to do.
AirTag update: It’s a mystery
Many people like to be sure their gear is always up to date, and that includes Apple’s tiny trackers. If there are new features, you don’t want to miss out on them. And that means keeping up with AirTag firmware updates, which are released sporadically.
The previous AirTag firmware version, 2.0.61, came out in October 2023. But there’s reportedly a new version out: 2.0.73 — and Cult of Mac can confirm this.
As it usually does, Apple is gradually rolling out the new firmware. Only 1% of the trackers can install the new version now. But it’ll eventually be available for all. It’ll take weeks, though.
Unfortunately, there’s currently no way to know what’s changed in version 2.0.73. While Apple makes release notes available for this type of update, the latest version is not yet listed.
You can’t manually start a firmware update on an AirTag. All you can do is put the tracker near the iPhone it’s paired with and wait.
Keep this in mind with AirTags on items like luggage that are in storage. You’ll need to put them near your iPhone long enough to install the new firmware. Just being in the same house/apartment/etc. isn’t close enough.
Although Apple released these accessories three years ago, no one has figured out if there’s some trick to getting the latest firmware more quickly. It’s unlikely such a method exists.
AirPods headphones also make users be patient. These accessories get software updates the same way — put them near an iPhone and wait. And no one has ever found a trick for speeding up the process.
How to check on AirTag firmware updates
AirTag users can at least easily find out if they have the latest firmware.
Open the Find My application on an iPhone or iPad and go to the Items tab.
Tap on an AirTag in the list of Items.
Here’s the tricky part: Tap on the battery icon for the AirTag. If that’s not showing, tap on With You Now. That will display the AirTag’s serial number and firmware version.
Tap on “With You Now” to see the firmware version. Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac
Apple’s tracker debuted running version 1.0.225., but quite a few firmware updates have been introduced since then, including a change to the audible alarm put in place to make AirTags harder to use to stalk people.
But if your AirTag is still running version 2.0.24, it definitely needs an update. And 2.0.61 is now also obsolete.
An avalanche of information has recently leaked for Motorola’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Edge 50 Pro revealing nearly everything from specs to features.
The company posted a few teasers on its Indian X account (the platform formerly known as Twitter) of what the device will be capable of. But much of the details actually come from a listing page found on Flipkart, an Indian e-commerce platform. There, it’s revealed the Edge 50 Pro sports an 6.7-inch, curved pOLED display outputting 1.5K resolution (2,712 x 1,220 pixels) and has a refresh rate of 144Hz. Motorola is seemingly putting a lot of work into making the viewing experience as immersive as possible. Not only does it support the entire DCI-P3 color gamut, the company claims the screen is the “world’s first Pantone validated display”.
Pantone, if you’re not familiar, is a company best known for creating the Pantone Matching System, a color standard used in a variety of industries. With this standard in place on the Edge 50 Pro, Motorola states the screen will be able to accurately show off colors and skin tones.
AI-powered features
Accurate color portrayal is slated to play a major role on the Edge 50 Pro’s rear camera array as the lenses are also “Pantone validated.” While we’re on the topic, the device’s camera system is said to have AI technology powering at least five other features. Keep in mind, none of these have official descriptions explaining what they do, although their respective names offer enough insight to paint a picture.
Adaptive Stabilization will probably ensure subjects in a photo or video remain centered at all times. Auto Focus Tracking will likely do just that – automatically focus on moving people. Photo Enhancement Engine, as the name suggests, will probably improve the quality of a picture. Style Sync sounds like an on-device generative AI tool that might create, say, unique wallpapers on the fly similar to the Pixel 8.
Tilt Mode is the last AI-powered feature mentioned. It was tough figuring out what this could be, however we believe it’ll function similarly to the OnePlus 12’s Tilt-Shift Mode. What it does is allow users to manipulate how a camera lens focuses on a subject resulting in an interesting visual effect. A cross-section of a photograph is crystal clear while the top and bottom are blurry, which can have a miniaturizing effect on the image.
Flipkart’s page hints that’s how the Edge 50 Pro’s Tilt Mode will work. There’s an image of a woman with a clear view of her face surrounded by a hazy background. But without official confirmation, it’s hard to say for sure.

Specs
The only other tidbit we learn is the camera system will be led by a 50MP sensor. However, notable industry insider Abhishek Yadav shared more details about the smartphone on X.
He claims the model will house a 13MP ultra-wide lens as well as a 4,500mAh battery. And it’ll all run on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. Yadav concludes his post by stating the Edge 50 Pro will launch in India on April 3. It’ll be available in three different colors: black, lavender, and white with marble-like texture.

Now the question is whether this smartphone will launch elsewhere. Most likely, yes. Notebook Check in their coverage points out there’s a high chance the mobile device will be rebranded as the 2024 version of the Motorola Edge Plus in the United States. We are missing a new model and the company’s latest phone appears to be the likely contender. No word when we’ll see a global release although we did ask.
