Is this the best time ever for iPhone deals at Verizon? Multiple devices are free without the need for an annoying trade

[ad_1]

If you’ve been eying up an iPhone at Verizon, right now is a great time to consider picking up a deal. As well as several large trade-in rebates from the carrier, there are also an increasing number of promotions not tied to that usual criteria.

For example, right now, you don’t need a trade-in to get the standard iPhone 15 for free alongside a new line on a Verizon Unlimited Ultimate plan. If you pick one up on this admittedly pricey plan you’ll be entitled to a full $829 saving, which will cover the entire cost of the device over 36 months.

Thousands of D-Link NAS devices have serious backdoor security issues

[ad_1]

A high-severity vulnerability has been recently discovered in certain D-Link Network Attached Storage (NAS) instances which could be used to run malicious code, steal sensitive data, and mount denial-of-service (DoS) attacks.

Cybersecurity researcher Netsecfish, who discovered the flaw, found multiple instances of D-Link’s NAS devices have an arbitrary command injection flaw in the “system” parameter, and a hardcoded account that can be used to access the device. As a result, hackers can run commands as they please:

WhatsApp will soon allow you to lock chats on linked devices

[ad_1]

Last updated: April 2nd, 2024 at 10:20 UTC+02:00

As most of you might know, WhatsApp for Android and iOS allows you to lock chats behind a passcode or biometric authentication. Once you lock a chat, the app also moves it from the regular chats list to the Locked Chats folder. This feature is very helpful for people who don’t want anyone else to see or access particular chats on the messaging platform.

Unfortunately, the feature is limited to primary devices and does not extend to linked devices. It means that if you lock a chat in WhatsApp on your primary device, it will still be visible in the regular chats list in WhatsApp on your linked device, and will be accessible without the need to enter a passcode or authenticate your identity using biometrics, which is quite frustrating. Well, WhatsApp is now working on a solution to that problem.

According to WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.8.4) on your linked device does not show those chats in the regular chats list that you had locked on your primary device. Instead, it shows those chats in the Locked Chats folder, and to access those chats, you will have to enter a secret code (not a passcode). You can create a secret code from the Chat Lock settings on your primary device.

WhatsApp Chat Lock On Linked Devices

With the latest feature, you don’t have to worry about anyone else seeing/accessing those chats on your linked device that you had locked on your primary device, enhancing your privacy and security on the messaging platform. We hope that WhatsApp extends this feature to WhatsApp for iOS, Mac, Windows, and the web to make sure that the chats you lock on your primary device stay locked on your linked device no matter its platform.

You can have a look at the screenshots above to get a proper idea of what you need to do to hide the UI navigation bar on your device running One UI 6.1.

Some people were confused after installing the One UI 6.1 update, as their phones reverted to on-screen buttons on Android’s navigation gesture system instead of Samsung’s navigation gesture system. We will explain how to revert to Samsung’s ‘Swipe From Bottom’ gesture system in a separate article.

One UI 6.1 brings several new features, including the ones powered by Galaxy AI, to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series. You can have a look at all those features in our detailed video below.

Power up 3 devices with first Belkin Qi2 wireless charging stand

[ad_1]

Power up iPhone, Apple Watch and more with first Belkin Qi2 wireless charging stand
Belkin just launched one of the first multi-device charging stands with Qi2.

The Belkin BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand with Qi2 offers 15W charging for iPhone and other Qi2-enabled handsets, fast charging for Apple Watch, and optimal charging for AirPods, too.

This third version of Belkin’s charging stand launched Tuesday.

New Belkin charging stand is one of the first with Qi2

For those who are unfamiliar with it, Qi2 is heavily based on the MagSafe system that Apple developed, including building magnets into both the phone and the charging mat.

It’s expected to unite wireless charging for iPhone and Android, but Samsung skipping it in the Galaxy S24 dealt these hopes a serious blow. Still, iOS handsets going back to iPhone 13 support Qi2.

And accessory makers are going ahead with products that use the new standard. Hence Tuesday’s release of the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand with Qi2.

It’s three chargers in one.

The T-shaped stand has two elevated charging mats. One is for an iPhone or Android and can supply up to 15W, as noted. Users can adjust the angle of the phone for optimal viewing while watching videos, reading texts or video chatting.

Next to this is an elevated mat for fast charging Apple Watch Series 7 and later, plus both Apple Watch Ultra versions. On the base is a mat that can send 5W to AirPods or other device.

The accessory is made with a minimum 75% post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials.

Now available

After being announced CES 2024 in January, Belkin BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand with Qi2 can be ordered today for $149.99. Its available in black or white colorways.

Buy it from: Belkin

Belkin also recently introduced the Auto-Tracking Stand Pro that can hold up an iPhone, rotate and tilt to keep the camera focused on the user during video recording.

It’ll be $149.99 when it launches in March 2024

Getac: Rugged mobile technology is stronger than ever, but we’re sticking to computing devices for now

[ad_1]

We’ve always admired rugged mobile technology. Faster processors, higher resolution screens, intuitive operating systems – they’re all essential and impressive. But the build quality and durability of laptops, tablets, phones all capable of surviving unimaginable drops, shocks, and environmental extremes is in a league of its own.

There’s a reason for the growing popularity of the best rugged laptops, tablets, and phones. After all, those better specs won’t mean much when the display shatters, when dust and sand carpet the motherboard. According to one survey, the tablet PC market alone is forecast to be worth over $1900 million by 2032. It’s a trend replicated for rugged laptops and phones. One of the companies leading the way in mobile solutions protected against the elements is Getac.
