LOS ANGELES, Feb. 7 (UPI) — The Magic Mike franchise has come a long way from the 2012 film inspired by Channing Tatum's experience as a stripper to acting.

Magic's Last Dance , which hits theaters Friday, is the perfect combination of Tatum's dance moves and showmanship.

Mike lost his furniture business due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was a fitting way to prepare him for new opportunities. While bartending at a party hosted by Maxandra (Salma Hayek Pino), a guest tells her about Mike's previous job.

Max convinces Mike to give him one last dance, but Mike is so nice that he convinces him to return to London, where he owns a theatre. Max gives Mike the right to host a dance show, which challenges him and complicates their romance.

Mike's private lap dance for Max convinces viewers that there is more juice in this franchise. He began remodeling the space for his performance and testing the equipment he would later rely on.

Tatum, like Mike, gets really excited when he gets close enough to Max to be intimate, but never kisses or makes out. Together they create a sexual desire and can be seen to provide much needed release – in a way that is physically and emotionally safe.

Hayek plays the role of the erotic Ginger Rogers. He also does a bit of dancing, but it's more of a fiery reaction than an addition to Tatum's choreography.

Mike and Max sleep together and it's honest. Mike doesn't do this with every client, and Max keeps Mike in the dark about his plans until he takes him to the theater.

This leads to a fairly standard "put on a show" story, but the vibe of the film's dancers should surpass the moves that fans of the first two films have seen.

The dancers Mike brings together in London are impressive. They never become backstage characters, but they pull off his choreography impressively.

As auditions and rehearsals progressed, the show began to take shape. Mike isn't on the show, but he still has to play to show newcomers how it's done.

Max's radical new ideas run into trouble when Max and Mike run into obstacles. They are chosen as much as possible and luckily some of them are chosen by jumping.

The problems in Max and Mike's relationship are not so obvious. Max has an unfinished business history and his impending divorce is complicated by a prenuptial agreement.

Mike makes peace with London snobs and meets Max's daughter Jaydee (Jemelia George). Zadie is skeptical about mom's new toy, but Max's butler Victor (Ayub Khan Din) seems even worse.

The show that Mike is doing is really cool. He has a lot to say about feminism and desire, all with an epic dance number.

The Last Dance is Mike's solo show. It's about the four dancers from the previous two films, and luckily they're fine, but they'll be missed.

They're calling it Magic Mike's Last Dance, but instead of wrapping up the trilogy, it might be " Fast Five " that takes the franchise in a bold new direction. Magic Mike could be a series where Mike fills his company with new members and builds more and more ambitious shows with each sequel.

The return of Basil Fawlty. A reboot of John Cleese's British comedy Fawlty Towers is in development, and Rob Reiner's Castle Rock Entertainment is in development.

More than 40 years after the end of the second and final season, Monty Python star Cleese will co-write and direct with his daughter Camilla Cleese in a remake that will delight generations of British comedy fans.

The new series will explore how Cleese-hating, cynical and gay Basil Fawlty navigates the modern world. Plot details have largely been kept under wraps, but the development will push the story forward to explore Basil's relationship with a princess he's just discovered, as the pair defy fate and get together… run a small hotel.

The Cleese family partnered with Rainer's Castle Rock in development, with Rainer, Michelle Rainer, Derek Rossi and Matthew George serving as executive producers.

John Cleese praised George's "understanding" of the "creative process" and described their first meeting as "one of the best creative sessions I can remember".

Rob Reiner added: “John Cleese is a comedy legend. Just the thought of working with him makes me laugh', while George described meeting John and Camilla Cleese as 'one of the greatest thrills of my life'.

'Knock At The Cabin' Review: M. Night Shyamalan Knocks Again With BMovie Thrills

Qat! Who is there? Why, it's M. Night Shyamalan's Knock at the Cabin – another great movie moment.

Since Shyamalan's breakthrough The Sixth Sense gave us the unforgettable "I see dead" line, the writer-director has specialized in telling stories with a simple, brutal catch designed to throw you off balance and off your guard. After watching, slow down. In his latest film, Knock on the Cabin, now in cinemas, Paul J. Tremblay's novel La Cabane du bout du monde is based on a chilling premise. What would you sacrifice to save the world?

With a quiet January opening still dominated by Avatar: The Last Airbender's "Water Road ," Knock on the Cabin is a small movie with big ideas. He faces the greatest stakes in the apocalypse, but is caught in a brutally intimate microcosm.

Little Wayne (Kristen Koo) is relaxing in a secluded cabin when a gigantic man in a menacing shirt (Dave Bautista) emerges from the woods and hints at a terrifying proposal. Wayne and his foster parents Eric and Andrew (Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge) find themselves besieged by a group of fanatics driven by nightmares.

Few films use this setting as a jumping off point for survival horror, in which a family is forced to fend off strange invaders in heart-wrenching, poignant sequences. But the story takes a different turn, one that is more distinct and disturbing. The bastards are both apologetic and apologetic, offering their competition with quiet politeness.

Dave Bautista is great as the leader of a group of insolent sociopaths. It's a looming monolith, a physical nightmare whose complexity makes its sensibility all the more chilling. He's more menacing here than Specter 's one-dimensional, muscle-bound villain, and he builds on the silent, scene-stealing vulnerability we saw in Blade Runner 2049 .

Rupert Grint (former Harry Potter star in Shyamalan's latest Apple TV Plus series) also excels as the twisted, quivering redhead, adding a dose of brutal instability. Nikki Amuka-Bird and Abby Quinn have smaller roles, but add heart and even some laughs amidst the growing horror.

On the surface, Knock at the Cabin is a chilling horror story that puts you in the shoes of a kidnapped family. From the room's patio doors wide open carelessly to the moment Dad is cooped up in his pajamas, the family is helpless. Wouldn't having a small child cover the parents up (especially if they'd read the book)?

The gruesome side of the story is unfortunate, but Shyamalan seems to be pulling his punches. As with Shyamalan's other recent work, the turbulent atmosphere is reminiscent of Legacy and Get Out. But he's not attached to the villain that gives these movies their shocking bite.

Likewise, the sheer simplicity of the structure will not complement the overall flow of the film. We get flashbacks to Eric and Andrew's relationship that flesh out their characters and help you relate to them. But the flashbacks are perhaps the most embarrassing part of the movie. While it's gratifying to see two people fall in love and support each other's struggles, it's not always as interesting (or at least not as interesting as trying to escape a relentless weirdo in a dungeon). This backstory adds an intriguing and complex twist, but never really allows for development because the characters involved disappear from the story far too soon.

Told sparingly and sparingly, Knock on the Cabin gives us plenty of room to think about the deeper global issues raised by Desperate Dilemma. He is confronted with the reality of a world going to hell and our power to stop it. And unlike the wry tone of Adam McKay's apocalyptic satire Don't Look For Shyamalan, Shyamalan's film more accurately conveys the responsibility we all bear for the future of our planet. At the end of the day, that's the quandary we're left with. What sacrifices must our generation make so that our children have a world to live in?

And of course, since The Sixth Sense, we've been conditioned to expect a twist ending. Shyamalan's latest movie, the beach-set Shocker Old, stripped some of the genre away with a very literal ending that says it all. Cleverly, dings in the cabin make it all the more mysterious.

M Night Shyamalan deserves admiration for consistently producing tense, boring B-movies with great ideas. Saloon beating may not be as nerve-wracking as similar horror stories, but Shyamala's punch is more than welcome when it comes to knocking.

Featured locations are the Marvel Snap events, which introduce multiple new locations at a faster pace. A new spot with 40 % of the audience premiered at the event. While CFOs face relatively new challenges and responsibilities in the 2020s, from corporate sustainability to digital transformation, they need to learn a deeper and broader truth: The expectations of CFOs have risen almost beyond recognition over the past few decades, requiring a change in mindset. not just new skills. I recently spoke with Robert Bendetti, CFO of Lifecycle Engineering and founder of the Global Finance Council, which helps CFOs share knowledge on how to approach and excel in their jobs in the 21st century.

Jeff Thompson. As the CFO of Life Cycle Engineering, you will be responsible for all of the company's financial operations, including accounting, finance, contracts, purchasing, security, equipment, process automation, and IT. The CFO is expected to play at least some role in all of these areas, but this requires adaptation and development of the skills of more traditional financial leaders. How do you see the CFO role evolving and diversifying throughout your career, and how are you changing with it? What lessons do you have for other CFOs?

Robert Bendetti. When I graduated, the CFO role was all about transactions and background. Now the CFO role is focused on transformation and the future. We are the main future officers. To be successful in the future, CFOs must be experts in change management. Certifications such as CMA [Certified Management Accountant] and Lean Six Sigma training can help you become more efficient and accelerate your career. But to significantly increase the effectiveness of your change management projects, you need to master the human side of change.

I have had success using Proschi's ADKAR model to manage the human side of change. ADKAR stands for awareness, desire, knowledge, ability and empowerment;

A – Awareness of the need for change.

D – Willingness to participate and support change.

K – Knowledge of change.

A – Ability to practice desired skills and behaviors.

R – Reinforcement to support change.

We need to support the people in the organization as they transition from the current state to the future and understand what it takes to get each person to embrace and embrace change. In this way, organizations can significantly increase the chances of project success and the return on their investment in the project.

Thomas: Process automation and IT are of particular importance to finance, given the trend towards automation of low-level finance tasks and the growing importance of understanding technology issues for finance managers. What technology areas are of greatest interest to future finance and accounting professionals? How should accounting programs and departments better prepare their employees for these technological trends?

Bendetti All businesses are going digital, and CFOs must stay at the forefront of technology. Two areas that I am personally interested in are data analytics and process automation. I'm still in the early stages of becoming an advanced user of tools like Power BI, Tableau, and Amazon QuickSight. But I'm really amazed at the power of these tools to analyze, visualize, extract and share results to manage results in real time.

I am also fascinated by process automation and its impact over the past 20 years. The commercial area (accounting, human resources, purchasing, etc.) was barely recognizable from the start. Process automation, robotic process automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning are revolutionizing business. But it is important to remember Peter Drucker's famous saying: "There is nothing more useless than doing effectively what should not be done at all." Don't use RPA to automate tasks that shouldn't be done. Use Lean Six Sigma principles to reduce waste and variance; then automate what's left.

Thomas: With so many changes and disruptions, it's more important than ever that CFOs work together to share ideas and experiences. That is why you are not only the CFO of Life Cycle Engineering, but also the founder of the Global Finance Council. What made you return to the financial profession? What are the benefits of networking and information sharing for CFOs?

Bendetti Global Finance Council is an educational and networking forum for financial leaders. The purpose of the Global Board of Financial Directors is to provide an educational and networking forum for Senior Financial Officers (SFEs) to share best practices, discuss current finance issues and learn about current challenges in doing their jobs. He is a member of the Board of Global Financial Directors [SFE], including the Chief Financial Officer, Comptroller, Vice President of Finance and Treasurer. I started a few years ago and now we have 1500 members in 30 countries.

I consider myself a lifelong student. I like learning new things and meeting new people. In-person and virtual meetings allow me to connect and learn from industry experts. At its center is steamy drama, flashy set design (apparently one of the most expensive films ever made in Indiana), and a mysterious supernatural aquatic conspiracy that looks straight out of Gore Verbinski's The Health Cure . , as both films deal with haunted and unsettling places full of question marks and gothic horror.

It's also interesting that writer/director Paul Schulberg wrote the Michael Korita novel of the same name (which was also adapted into last year's Angelina Jolie vehicle, They Want Me Dead), and he wrote the book six years before the movie. Going out.

The concept of magic water isn't exactly new though. However, it's done very skillfully, whether it's the design of the jet skis, which in part prompt our hero to travel to this haunted city, the vast circular hotel that looks like an entire world, or the ominous lighting. There is always an interesting story that is both encouraging and confusing.

Unfortunately, that same level of detailed world-building doesn't necessarily translate into characters or the larger story, which is sometimes exciting and sometimes clichéd. It also doesn't help that when the story comes to a head, it stalls and ends in a confusing and frustrating way.

Erica Shaw (Bethany Joy Lentz), based on an acclaimed documentary filmmaker known for her dark depictions of human life, leaves that career after the failure of one of her previous roles. Or rather, he saw the darkness in the man while filming, then kept quiet, giving him the guilt trip he has today.

However, he changes his mind when Alyssa Bradford-Cohen (Alicia Reiner) spends an absurd amount of money talking about her dead billionaire father, who is connected to his distant city and unfinished business. When Erica arrives, the atmosphere is quite tense as the characters drop the conversation just by mentioning the rich man. Erica also contacts the man's great-nephew (Andrew J. West), who has found no future outside the city and now works at a rundown hotel.
