Google Pixel 8 Pro vs iPhone 15 Pro Max

The Google Pixel 8 Pro is Google’s latest flagship Android smartphone, the handset was launched recently and now we get to find out how the device performs next to Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max, the battery life on the two handsets is tested in a new video.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max comes with a 4,441 mAh battery and the Google Pixel 8 Pro features a 5,500 mAh battery, the video below from Phone Buff tests the battery life on the two handsets in a range of tests. The tests are designed to simulate everyday usage of smartphones, let’s find out how they perform.

As we can see from the video the iPhone 15 Pro Max lastest the longest out of the two handsets, even though it has a smaller battery, this would suggest that the iPhone processor and software are more efficient than the Pixel 8 Pro. In the tests the iPhone lasted an additional 1 hour and 44 minutes, clocking in a total usage time of 27 hours and 44 minutes, compared to the Pixel’s 25 hours and 53 minutes.

The battery tests between the Google Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max reveal a clear pattern. While the Pixel shows commendable performance and even outshines its predecessor and the iPhone in certain aspects like browsing, the iPhone 15 Pro Max consistently demonstrates superior battery life across most tasks. For users whose primary concern is staying powered throughout the day under various usage conditions, the iPhone 15 Pro Max emerges as the winner in this battery life test.

What’s new in iOS 17.2 beta 1 (Video)

Apple recently released iOS 17.2 beta 1 to developers, they also released watchOS 10.2 beta 1, macOS Sonoma 14.2 beta 1, and iPadOS 17.2 beta 1 at the same time. So far these new betas have been made available to developers, we are also expecting them to be made available to public beta testers in the future.

Now we have a video from Brandon Butch that gives us a look at the iOS 17.2 beta 1 and we get to find out what new features and changes Apple has included in the latest beta release.

As we can see from the video, there are a number of new features included in the iOS 17.2 software, this includes Contact Key Verification in messaging, updates for Apple Music, the new Journal app, and more.

One of the standout additions in this update is the Journal app. This isn’t just another note-taking application; it goes a step further by using on-device intelligence to provide journaling suggestions. Imagine this: you’re back from a trip, and the app suggests you jot down your experiences, influenced by the photos you’ve taken or the music you’ve been listening to. The Journal app aims to make reflective writing more interactive and personalized.

Initially previewed in December of last year, the Contact Key Verification feature has made its way into this update. This functionality enables you to manually verify your contacts when messaging by comparing unique verification codes. It’s another layer of security that complements the end-to-end encryption Apple already provides.

We are expecting Apple to release their IOS 17.2 software sometime in November, as soon as we get some details on when the update will land, we will let you know.

Earlier today we heard that Apple had released a range of new betas, including watchOS 10.2 beta 1 for the Apple Watch, iOS 17.2 beta 1 for the iPhone, iPadOS 17.2 beta 1 for the iPad, and macOS Sonomoa 14.2 beta 2 for the Mac.

Now we have a video from Half Man Half Tech that gives us a look at the new watchOS 10.2 beta 1 software and some of the new features that are coming to the Apple Watch with the update.

This release comes on the heels of WatchOS 10.1, which had its fair share of issues, particularly concerning battery drain. The new beta version aims to address some of these concerns while introducing a slew of new features. However, it’s essential to note that this is still a beta release, meaning it’s not yet stable enough for general release.

As this is only the first beta in the series it will be a while before the final version of the software is released, we are expecting this update to be released sometime in November, probably around the end of the month. As soon as we get some details on exactly when Apple is planning to release these new updates, we will let you know.

With the release of iOS 17 Apple has added a wealth of new functionality, features and enhancements to its mobile operating system. One of which is the ability to now leave FaceTime iPhone video messages and audio if someone misses your call. Once you have left a message your friends and family can even play your message on their Apple Watch, making it even more convenient to stay in touch.

This guide will show you  how to record and send video messages when your FaceTime call is not answered. The first step in leaving a video message on FaceTime is initiating a call. If the person on the other end does not pick up the call, an option appears on the screen to record a video. Upon tapping this option, a countdown begins from 5 to 1, after which you can begin recording your message. The interface is user-friendly, featuring a “Call Again” button and a “Record Video” button for easy navigation.

Once you’ve recorded your message, several options become available. You can choose to send the recorded message immediately by tapping the Up button, or you can opt to rerecord the message if you’re not satisfied with the initial recording. There’s also an option to save the video message to your Photos app for future use. After sending the video message, the recipient is notified of the message.

Interestingly, FaceTime’s video message feature is not limited to iPhones and iPads. Recipients can even play these messages on their Apple Watch, making it a versatile tool for communication across various Apple devices. To do this, they simply need to open the notification center, tap on the message, and hit play to watch the video.

Live Voicemail

In the US and Canada, there’s an additional feature for FaceTime audio calls known as Live Voicemail. If the person you’re calling doesn’t answer, and you’re a known contact, you’re prompted to leave a voicemail. If the recipient has Live Voicemail turned on in their settings, your message is transcribed on their screen in real time, giving them an idea of what you’re calling about and the option to pick up your call.

Live Voicemail is available only in English in the U.S. and Canada, excluding Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

It’s important to note that there are some restrictions to these features. For instance, you can only receive video messages from saved contacts, people you’ve called, and people suggested by Siri. Moreover, not all countries or regions have access to FaceTime. Therefore, availability may vary depending on your location.

What’s new in watchOS 10.1 (Video)

Now we have another video, this one is from Brandon Butch and it gives us a look at the new watchOS 10.1 software and the changes and new features that are coming to the Apple Watch with this update.

As we can see from the video this update brings some new features to the Apple Watch, it also includes some performance improvements and bug fixes as well. Including improved battery life as this update reportedly improves battery life by fixing a drain issue that occurred when only the iPhone or Apple Watch was updated.

The watchOS 10.1 software update also includes the new Double tap feature for the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, the Double Tap gesture is another significant addition. This intuitive gesture allows users to perform primary actions within apps and notifications swiftly. For instance, you can double-tap to respond to messages via voice dictation or to play/pause music. It’s a feature that enhances the user experience by making interactions quicker and more natural.

Plus support for Name Drop, this featureenables seamless transfer of contact information between Apple Watches or between an Apple Watch and an iPhone. Yesterday Apple released iOS 17 for the iPhone, they also released tvOS 17.1 for the Apple TV, watchOS 10.1 for the Apple Watch, macOS Sonoma 14.1 for the Mac, and iPadOS 17.1 for the Apple iPad.

The new iOS 17.1 software update brings a range of new features to the iPhone, the video below from Brandon Butch gives us a look at what is new in the latest iPhone software update, let’s find out more details.

As we can see from the video there are a number of new features in the video, including updates to the Music app, new features for AirDrop, StandBy, and improved battery life performance.

Apple Music users are in for a treat with a slew of new features. The “Love” feature has been replaced by a new “Favorite” feature, making it easier to add songs to your library. You can now also sort songs by “All Songs” or “Favorited,” giving you more control over your music experience. The Playlist UI has been revamped, allowing users to add custom artwork to playlists. Plus, a “Song Suggestions” feature has been added to help you discover new music.

You can now favorite and unfavorite songs directly from the lock screen and the Now Playing view. This is a small but significant change that makes interacting with your music library more convenient.

Porsche is celebrating 60- years of the 911 this year and what better way to celebrate than in the Porsche 911 Dakar, off-road in Australia, we also get to see the new Porsche 11 GT3 RS in action on the track with Mark Webber and Stéphane Ortelli.

The Porsche 911 Dakar was unveiled in November of 2022 and the car is limited to just 2,500 cars worldwide, it took its design inspiration from the Porsche 911 used by Porsche in the 19784 Paris-Dakar Rally.

Upon a closer examination of the Porsche 911 Dakar, one can’t help but be immediately captivated by its noteworthy ground clearance. This feature stands a significant 50 millimetres taller when compared to the 911 Carrera equipped with a sports suspension setup. Adding to its versatility, the car comes with a standard lift system, enabling both the front and rear sections to be elevated by an additional 30 millimetres. Impressively, its ground clearance and ramp angle measurements are on par with what one would typically expect from traditional SUVs.

But the lift system’s functionality doesn’t end there. It’s not just a tool for carefully navigating over hurdles, but it plays a pivotal role in the reconfigured chassis dynamics. When one is in the mood for a more adventurous off-road escapade, the ‘high level’ setting can be employed, permitting speeds reaching up to a swift 170 km/h. However, for safety and optimal performance, once the vehicle surpasses this speed threshold, it intuitively reverts to its default height setting.

A closer look at the 911 Dakar reveals a series of distinguishing attributes that set it apart. At the forefront is its innovatively crafted, stationary rear spoiler, meticulously constructed from lightweight CFRP. Complementing this is the front luggage compartment lid, also made from CFRP, which boasts distinct air outlets, a design cue borrowed from the esteemed 911 GT3.

But the 911 Dakar’s unique design elements don’t stop there. It incorporates quintessential off-road features, including the striking red aluminium towing lugs, strategically positioned at both the front and rear. Additionally, the car showcases expanded wheel wells and sills, lending it a more rugged appearance. For added durability and aesthetics, stainless steel protective components adorn the front, rear, and side sills.

Lastly, the car’s reimagined front end stands out, not just for its aesthetic appeal but also for its functionality. The side air intakes have been fortified with stainless steel grilles, offering protection against potential damage from flying debris and rocks during spirited drives.

OnePlus recently launched its first folding smartphone, the OnePlus Open, the handset comes with some impressive specifications and the device will retail for £1,599 in the UK and $1,699 in the USA.

Now we get to find out what the new OnePlus Open smartphone is like in a new video from Marques Brownlee, we get to find out about the design and features of the handset, and let’s find out some more details about this new folding smartphone.

As we can see from the video the handset looks impressive including the design and both of the displays on the handset also look very good. As a reminder the main display measures 7.82 inches and it has a 2440 x 2268 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The cover display on the handset measures 6.31 inches and this display comes with 2484 x 1116 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, the device is powered by a Qualcomm. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile processor and it comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Other specifications on the OnePlus Open folding smartphone include a 48-megapixel main camera, a 64-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera, on the main. display there is a 20-megapixel camera for selfies and on the cover display there is a 32-megapixel camera, the handset also comes with a 4805 battery and 67W fast charging.
