First Physical Apple Cards Expiring Soon, Apple Shipping Out Replacements

[ad_1]

Apple today began informing early Apple Card customers that their physical titanium cards are set to expire this summer, with replacements to be sent in the near future. Customers who signed up for the ‌Apple Card‌ in August 2019, when the ‌Apple Card‌ launched, will be receiving the notice.

apple card expiration
It appears that the physical ‌Apple Card‌ is designed to last for five years before a replacement is sent out. Most of the ‌Apple Card‌’s functionality is digital, with options for rotating security codes and credit card numbers for online purchases, but there is a number associated with the physical card that’s used for in-person transactions. Credit card companies add expiration dates to physical cards for fraud prevention purposes, to introduce new technology, and more.

From Apple’s email:

We’re sending a replacement titanium card to your billing address so you can continue to use it at physical locations. Remember, even without a physical card you can always use your Apple Card at any location that accepts Apple Pay. Your new titanium card will be shipped within 2 weeks from the date of this communication.

You can continue to use your titanium card until it expires or you activate the new one. You can still use Apple Card with Apple Pay and your virtual card number to shop at merchants that don’t yet accept Apple Pay by typing in your number from Wallet or using Safari AutoFill.

Replacement cards will include a prepaid shipping label so that customers can send in their old ‌Apple Card‌ to be recycled. Apple recommends that ‌Apple Card‌ users who receive a new card activate it when it arrives, as the current card is scheduled to stop working at its expiration date.

Customers who signed up for ‌Apple Card‌ at some point after it first launched will likely receive emails at the five year mark. Note that some customers have been receiving emails for the last month or so, but these may be customers who were able to sign up for the ‌Apple Card‌ early as part of a beta test.

Samsung is, once again, shipping the most phones in the world

[ad_1]

Samsung reportedly shipped 60.1 million smartphone units worldwide in Q1, representing 20.8 percent of the global market share — and first place. Meanwhile, Apple shipped 50.1 million units for 17.3 percent of the market share. Both companies, however, saw a decrease from Q1 2023. Apple saw an almost 10 percent drop, while Samsung’s hit was less than one percent.

Apple nudged Samsung out briefly in 2023, but it’s back to business as usual. The IDC’s takeaway is that the world of smartphones is strengthening (what does that mean?), with a boost to higher-priced phones—true for both Samsung and Apple.

Xiaomi rounded out the top five brands with 40.8 million units, Transsion with 28.5 million units and OPPO with 25.2 million units shipped. Never heard of Transsion? It’s a global smartphone powerhouse based in China, responsible for phone brands including Tecno, Itel and Infinix.

BlackBerry-Like ‘Clicks’ Keyboard Shipping for More iPhone Models Soon

[ad_1]

The company behind the new “Clicks” physical keyboard accessory for the iPhone says it will soon start shipping for a few more models.

Clicks Keyboard iPhone Yellow
In an email shared by Parker Ortolani on Threads this week, the company said the iPhone 15 Pro version of the keyboard will begin shipping to customers worldwide by April 15. And on the Clicks website, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max versions of the keyboard are estimated to ship by April 30 and in May, respectively.

Clicks started shipping the iPhone 14 Pro version of the keyboard in February, and this is the only model that has arrived to customers so far. The keyboard was first announced in early January, ahead of the annual CES tech conference.

Inspired by the once-popular BlackBerry smartphone, Clicks is both a physical keyboard and a case for the iPhone. The keyboard connects to the iPhone’s USB-C or Lightning port, and it features dedicated keys for emoji and dictation, backlit keys, and a pass-through charging port. Wireless charging is still supported through the case.

Clicks Keyboard iPhoneClicks Keyboard iPhone
One advantage of using a physical keyboard with an iPhone is a full-screen experience, as the on-screen keyboard does not appear. There are also keyboard shortcuts, such as CMD-H to return to the Home Screen and CMD-Space to open Spotlight.

The obvious downsides of the keyboard are the added size and weight, but there is a niche market of physical keyboard fans who are willing to put up with these compromises to have an old-school BlackBerry-like typing experience.

Clicks was co-founded by well-known tech personalities “MrMobile” and “CrackBerry Kevin.” The keyboard starts at $139 in the U.S., and it is offered in London Sky and BumbleBee color options. It has silicone on the front, and vegan leather on the back. The keyboard is currently sold out, with the company accepting reservations for future availability.

The Rabbit R1 starts shipping next week

According to Rabbit, the first batch of US pre-orders will ship on March 31. But stay patient, as it’ll take a few weeks for the devices to get to their destinations. The company estimates the first R1 orders will be in customers’ hands “around April 24.”

The Rabbit R1 generated equal amounts of hype and questions regarding next-gen AI hardware and whether it can deliver on the heady demos and press releases. I will say, though, the R1, co-designed by Teenage Engineering, is a pretty piece of tech.

The odds are fairly low that you’ll have to worry about it.

University security researchers found a chip-level exploit in Apple Silicon-powered Macs. The group says the flaw can bypass the computer’s encryption and access its security keys. However, hackers would need to circumvent Apple’s Gatekeeper protections, install a malicious app and let the software run for 10 hours — in addition to other complex conditions. As long as you have Apple’s Gatekeeper turned on (the default), you won’t be able to install such malicious apps anyway.

New iPad Air Now Shipping From China Ahead of Announcement

[ad_1]

The next-generation iPad Air is now reportedly shipping to the United States and other countries in preparation for launch.

iPad Air 5
The rumor comes from the leaker known as “Instant Digital,” who claims that manufacturers in China are now shipping the 2024 iPad Air in two sizes to overseas locations. “Everything is ready” for launch, the Weibo user says.

The sixth-generation ‌iPad Air‌ is rumored to feature the M2 chip, a redesigned rear camera, and specification upgrades like Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E. Most significantly, the ‌iPad Air‌ is expected to come in two sizes for the first time, just like the Apple Watch, iPad Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. One of the size options will be the same as the previous two generations at 10.9-inches, while the new addition to the lineup will apparently mirror the ‌iPad Pro‌’s 12.9-inch model.

Recent reports coming out of Asia suggest that Apple will announce new iPad models on Tuesday, March 26. According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release new ‌iPad Air‌ and ‌iPad Pro‌ models around the end of March or in April. The latest indications suggest that the new ‌iPad Pro‌ are now more likely to see a launch in April.

New iPads Likely to Begin Shipping in April

[ad_1]

Apple’s new iPad Pro models with OLED displays will likely begin shipping to customers in April, according to information shared today by Ross Young, CEO of display industry research firm Display Supply Chain Consultants.

M3 iPad Feature 3
Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman also said the new iPad Pro models might not ship until “deeper” into April in his Power On newsletter on Sunday:

I’ve repeatedly said that new software for the iPad Pro — a variant of iPadOS 17.4 designed for the updated models — won’t be complete until the end of March or even sometime in April. Once the OS is finished, Apple needs to send it off to the factories to be installed on the new hardware. That process could last a couple weeks, probably taking us deeper into next month.

Young expects Apple to announce the new iPad Pro models in “late March or early April,” so the devices could still be unveiled later this month. Gurman has also said that an announcement is possible as early as the “end of March.”

Young reiterated that Apple plans to launch a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air as well, and it will likely be announced alongside the new iPad Pro models.

The following iPad-related announcements are expected in March or April:

Gurman previously ruled out an Apple Event for the new iPads. Instead, the devices will likely be announced in a press release on the Apple Newsroom website, like the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M3 chip were earlier this month.

Young said Samsung will be the exclusive supplier of OLED displays for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, while Samsung and LG will apparently split orders for the 11.1-inch model.

Ins and Outs of Oklahoma Car Shipping

If you’ve ever hauled your vehicle on a shipping truck, you probably know the benefits of this service. If you haven’t used this service yet but know you’ll need it soon, it’s good to get some knowledge before hiring a carrier in Oklahoma.

On the source below, see in which cases you can benefit from car transportation services:

You probably have many doubts because vehicle transport is an unknown field. That’s why you’re interested in everything, from how the vehicle transport itself is performed to how much this service costs. We’ll try to explain the main details in brief, which is enough knowledge to start looking for favorable shipping deals.

There are several ways you can get your four-wheeler to the desired location. It’ll depend on where you go, how much time you have, and how big your budget is. Some options are more convenient but costlier, while others are more accessible but need more involvement.

For starters, you can drive your car, and that’s a good option if you’re in for a road trip and have a lot of free time. If you don’t have enough experience, you can ask someone to drive you. Remember that this option adds a lot of miles to your vehicle, and let’s not forget wear and tear.

So, if you want to spare your vehicle from a long trip, you can ship it. You can do it by rail, truck, boat, and plane. The last two methods are convenient when traveling overseas, but plane transport costs quite a lot and isn’t worth it for short-term hauling. The boat is cheaper, but the journey takes longer.

The railway is the most economical, but also definitely the slowest form of transport. Finally, shipping your car by truck brings the best of all worlds. It doesn’t last too long, doesn’t cost much, and offers maximum convenience and peace of mind.

We’ll focus on car shipping by trucks because most people choose that service to transport their vehicles within the state and across the country. In general, carriers factor in many things when determining their shipping rates. Some of these factors are “external,” such as fuel and toll prices, while others are created by the company itself.

Carriers provide different shipping prices for different car types. Larger vehicles take up more space and weight capacity, so their transport costs more. Then, it matters the car’s condition and whether it requires special transport (if broken, for instance). Finally, seasonality, i.e., the time of year when you need shipping service and urgency also affects price formation.

In case of express shipping, pay a few bucks more, and a carrier can pick up your car tomorrow and haul it to the desired location. As for the shipping period, peak seasons mean higher prices for transportation services, and most often, it’s in spring and summer. In autumn and winter, carriers often lower prices because not many people decide to ship their vehicles when the weather is bad.

The first and most requested service shippers in Oklahoma provide is transporting vehicles in an open trailer (more info on this page). Depending on a trailer, it can host up to dozens of cars, which lowers the price of the service. And the sooner the carrier fills up the space in the trailer, the sooner they’ll go on their way.

In case you need more exclusive service, shippers in Oklahoma offer enclosed transport for old timers, rare vehicles, sports, and expensive cars. These trailers only fit two to three cars, which is why it takes more time to fill them. But if you’re ready to pay more for this service, your metal pet will be maximally protected during transport.

Delivery time is one of the key factors when choosing a carrier in Oklahoma, especially if you need your four-wheeler at your new address on time. But this parameter depends on many other things, so guaranteeing car delivery is a slippery field for every transportation company.

Clients want a definite delivery time, but that’s rarely possible. Shippers in Oklahoma disclaim liability by giving their customers an estimated delivery time, which can be from a couple of days to three weeks. The reason is that transportation companies only start their journey after filling their load, which can sometimes cause delays.

Long-distance transport carries some risks, so you must protect your car. Trusted auto transport Oklahoma companies have proper liability insurance, which gives their clients additional security. So, in most cases, you don’t need to buy an extra policy. In case of vehicle damage during transport, carrier’s insurance (included in the shipping cost) means you’re covered.

Vehicle shipping in trucks is a convenient, affordable, and simple method of transporting your vehicle across the country. By shopping around and researching the offer, you can run into great deals that can save you a few bucks.
