Great deals on M1 iPad Air abound after M2 release| Cult of Mac

[ad_1]

great deals on M1 iPad Air
It’s a great time to score an M1 iPad Air at a super-low price.
Photo: Apple

Savvy, bargain-conscious Apple shoppers know new model releases can also herald the lowest-ever prices on recent, not-actually-new but new-to-them products. And with the recent roll out of M2 iPad Air, great deals on M1 iPad Air abound.

Today’s limited-time deals on Amazon are great examples, below.

This post contains affiliate links. Cult of Mac may earn a commission when you use our links to buy items.

With new model out, now’s the time to score great deals on M1 iPad Air

The new M2 iPad Air in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes looks like a great tablet. But not everyone wants to throw down a minimum of $600. That’s why it’s so great that steep discounts on slightly older gear often come around the time of new Apple product releases.

So for many, now’s not the time to invest in brand-new iPad Air. Now’s the time to snap up a discontinued M1 iPad Air from 2022 with a heavy discount. It’s still a great tablet for many users.

I own and love a blue M1 iPad Air with 256GB unified memory. Getting it for $150 less than I paid would have been sweet. Especially because other purchases creep in, like a keyboard (I’ve tried a couple third-party ones but don’t use an external keyboard often), a stylus (ditto; settled on Apple Pencil 2) and a case or folio (love my Zugu).

Why buy M1 iPad Air now?

If you don’t require the latest and greatest iPads, 2022’s iPad Air offers serious performance in a thin and light design. It’s great for consuming media, taking notes, creative work with Apple Pencil or playing loads of games.

You get an immersive 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display and the snappy performance of the M1 chip, plus Touch ID, advanced cameras, fast Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and a USB-C connector.

iPad Air comes not only with intuitive iPadOS, it packs essential apps like Safari, Messages and Keynote, with over a million more apps available on the App Store.

  • Other features:You can choose from 64GB or 256GB storage options depending on the room you need for apps, music, movies and more.
  • The tablet’s magnificent Liquid Retina display features tech like True Tone, P3 wide color and ultralow reflectivity.
  • Touch ID is built into the top button, so you can use your fingerprint to unlock your iPad Air, sign in to apps and make payments securely with Apple Pay.
  • iPad Air features a 12MP Ultra Wide front camera that supports Center Stage for videoconferencing and selfies. The 12MP Wide back camera with True Tone flash is great for capturing photos and 4K videos.
  • Comes in blue, pink, purple, space gray and starlight colors.

Google Pixel 8A: News, Specs, Features, Price, Release Date

[ad_1]

The Pixel 8A is powered by Google’s Tensor G3 chipset with 8 GB of RAM, just like the Pixel 8 series. That means it’ll be capable of much of the same software wizardry Google showed off last year with the debut of its flagship, including Audio Magic Eraser, which lets you erase unwanted sounds in video clips (like sirens); Magic Editor, where you can move subjects around and have the software generate a background to fill in the space; and Best Take, which can replace a person’s face in a photo by clipping it from a similar photo, which is useful in case someone blinked and ruined an otherwise perfect shot.

This phone will also be able to tap into Google’s Gemini Nano large language model. To enable Gemini Nano, you’ll have to go into the Pixel’s developer settings and check a box that says you agree to run experimental features that may or may not work perfectly yet. When enabled, Gemini Nano lets you access specific on-device AI features, like summarize in Google’s Recorder app and Smart Reply in Gboard. Gemini Nano will be available in a future software update, but Google confirmed that while the default assistant in this handset remains Google Assistant, you can replace it with its Gemini assistant easily out of the box, just like you can on most other Android phones today.

Speaking of, just like the Pixel 8 series, Google is promising seven years of software updates on this phone. That makes the Pixel 8A one of the only sub-$500 devices to get such a long software support window. Google’s also offering the same built-in VPN function too. The device comes with 128 GB of storage, and there’s now a 256-GB option, though that’s restricted to the Obsidian color. The Pixel 8A’s other colors include Bay, Porcelain, and a lovely new Aloe.

Samsung Internet beta with secret mode screenshot support gets wider release

[ad_1]

Last updated: April 29th, 2024 at 13:30 UTC+02:00

Samsung recently released a new version of the Samsung Internet beta app that introduced support for taking screenshots when browsing websites in Secret mode. The new version initially received a limited release, but it is now rolling out more widely for users around the world.

As mentioned, the latest beta version of Samsung Internet brings support for capturing screenshots in Secret mode. Secret mode is what Samsung calls incognito browsing in its browser app for Android devices.

Cookies and browsing history for websites visited in this mode are deleted after the relevant tabs are closed, and Secret mode can also be locked behind a password or biometrics for additional security.

Samsung Internet also disables screenshots in Secret mode, similar to other browsers. But now, a new option has been added in the mode’s settings that can be toggled on to allow screenshots. This option is called Allow screenshots in Secret mode and can be accessed in the browser’s Settings » Personal browsing data » Secret mode settings menu.

The newest version of Samsung Internet beta (26.0.0.19) also fixes bugs and improves stability, though Samsung doesn’t go into detail about these fixes and improvements. You can download the latest Samsung Internet beta update from the Galaxy Store or the Play Store. If you wish to manually install it without using any app store, you can download the latest APK file from APKMirror.

Join SamMobile’s social media channels to get instant Samsung news updates, reviews, hot deals, and more.
