Oppo unveiled a new device at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, the new Oppo Air Glass 3 prototype and the devcie works with Oppos AndesGPT via a smartphone, and Oppo smartphone users will soon be able to connect their devices to Microsoft’s Copilot.

Thanks to its ability to understand various data types, including text, images, video, and audio, multimodal AI technology is able to process and interpret more complex user scenarios, unlocking new potential in user interactions, such as voice and visual. While XR (extended reality) devices present new possibilities in implementing these features, they require both advanced functionality and lightweight designs if they are to truly take on the role of a personal, everyday smart assistant. Driven by this vision, OPPO has introduced the all-new OPPO Air Glass 3 prototype to explore the possibilities of AI technology based on cross-device collaboration between XR devices and smartphones.

Weighing just 50 grams, the OPPO Air Glass 3 features a self-developed resin waveguide with a refractive index of 1.70, a display brightness uniformity of more than 50%, and a peak eye brightness of more than 1,000 nits. Together, these ensure the OPPO Air Glass 3 provides a wearing experience that is close to that of a regular pair of glasses while also providing the best full-color display of its kind. Thanks to the access to OPPO AndesGPT provided by the Air Glass APP on the smartphone, users only need to lightly press the temple of the OPPO Air Glass 3 to activate the AI voice assistant and begin performing a range of tasks.

Nokia and Oppo sign 5G patent agreement

Nokia has announced that it has signed a new patent cross-license agreement with Nokia, the agreement will see Nokia receive payments from Oppo for a multi-year period, and there will also be payments for previous years.

This new agreement resolves any previous litigation between Nokia and Oppo and the catch-payments will cover any previous license fees that were due during the time the two companies were in dispute.

Jenni Lukander, President of Nokia Technologies, said: “We are delighted to have reached a cross-license agreement with OPPO that reflects the mutual respect for each other’s intellectual property and Nokia’s investments in R&D and contributions to open standards. OPPO is one of the leading companies in the global smartphone market and we look forward to working together to bring further innovation to their users around the world. The new agreement – along with the other major smartphone agreements we have concluded over the past year – will provide long-term financial stability to our licensing business.”

Feng Ying, OPPO’s Chief Intellectual Property Officer, stated: “We are pleased to have reached this global patent cross-license agreement with Nokia, which includes cross-licensing for 5G standard-essential patents. This agreement reflects the mutual recognition and respect for each other’s intellectual property and lays the foundation for future collaboration between OPPO and Nokia. OPPO continues to advocate for reasonable royalty fees and a long-term approach to intellectual property that supports the resolution of disputes through amicable negotiations and mutual respect for the value of all intellectual property.”

Oppo has launched its latest Android smartphone, the Oppo A2X, and the handset is equipped with a 6.56-inch LCD display that features a 90Hz refresh rate and it comes with an HD+ resolution of 1612 x 720 pixels.

The device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 mobile processor and it comes with a choice of 6GB or 8GB of RASM and 128GB or 256GB of included storage. If you need some additional storage then the handset also comes with a microSD card slot for expansion.

The new Oppo A2X smartphone features a 5,000 mAh battery, plus it features two nano SIM card slots and comers with ColorOS 13.1 which is based on Android 13, the device has a range of cameras with one on the back and one on the front.

On the front of the handset, there is a 5-megapixel camera that is designed for making video calls and taking selfies, on the back of the device there is a 13-megapixel camera with an LED flash.
