Asus officially confirmed the latest ROG Ally PC gaming handheld, called the Asus ROG Ally X, during a live stream on May 9, 2024. According to the stream, the ‘X’ stands for the hardcore audience wanting to see major hardware changes and fixes to the portable.
While it was announced that a full stream featuring all of the changes to the ROG Ally X would drop on June 2, 2024, there was a brief overview of some of the overhauls coming. Those include upgrades to the RAM, ports (with a mention of a proper fix to the SSD port), battery life, and its UI Armoury Crate.
The ROG Ally X will be getting Armoury Crate SE 1.5 UI in July 2024, which makes several quality-of-life changes to the UI including shifting around options in the menu, quick access to games in your library through the trigger buttons, adding brand new menu options, ability to customize the menu layout, and even a tool that lets you share game profile templates so that gamers can trade customized button mapping for some of the best PC games.

Google Podcasts is gone. The streaming platform recently went offline on April 2, bringing the six-year saga to a close. Now it joins the likes of YouTube Stories and the Stadia console over in the Google Graveyard.
If you open the app or go to the official website, you get a message stating the service is no longer available. Google asks you to transfer your subscriptions to either YouTube Music or export them to a third-party service.
We recently published a guide teaching you how to migrate subscriptions over. Moving things to YouTube Music is pretty straightforward as it all can be done on the Google Podcasts app. Migrating to a third-party is a little trickier as it requires creating an OPML file then uploading that file to a supporting service. Be aware you have until July 31 to move your data. After that, you’re out of luck.
The push for YouTube Music
YouTube Music will take the place of Google Podcasts as the company coalesces its audio content onto the app. As a service, it’s not the worst replacement, but it’s nowhere near the best.
The main problem with podcasts on YouTube Music is it plays second fiddle to, well, music. It’s not the main appeal. Yes, the platform has made multiple updates to improve podcast support, however there’s a lot of work to be done. The search bar still prioritizes musical artists and playlists, even if the “Podcast” filter is on. Some people find the user interface to be really messy since it’ll be clogged with song recommendations, making it difficult to find shows. The list goes on.
So, for those of you who are looking for a new podcast home besides YouTube Music, below is a list consisting of the best alternatives.
1. AntennaPod – Best alternative on Android

AntennaPod is a volunteer-built platform that is totally free. It has no ads whatsoever (unless the publisher of a podcast puts them in there), and you can subscribe to whatever show you want via RSS feed. New episodes will appear on the home screen with the option to download them for offline listening. You can set up a queue for back-to-back episodes with a history tab for future reruns. What’s more, it’s all easy to use. The UI is streamlined to minimize headaches.

The developers posted a series of instructions last November teaching people how to migrate over to AntennaPod from Google Podcasts. Like we mentioned, it involves creating an OPML file. The main problem with this app is it’s only available on Android. iPhone owners will have to look elsewhere.
2. PocketCasts – Best feature rich alternative

Compared to AntennaPod, PocketCast has way more features. It offers a wide array of resources to discover new shows. Categories include content that’s popular in the US, podcasts originating from Ireland, books, Women’s History Month, music, and so on. The player has an interesting set of tools as well. You can increase the playback speed to be twice as fast and trim the silent parts in episodes. You can even set up sleep timers.
Everything we just mentioned is available completely for free. You can add more by purchasing a subscription. Pocket Casts Plus, for example, offers access to both a desktop and smartwatch app among other things. The app is available on Android and iOS.
3. Overcast – Best features for iOS

Rounding the trio is the iOS-exclusive Overcast. It’s an incredibly popular app on iPhone, currently sitting with a near-perfect 4.7 out of 5 rating on the Apple App Store. Much of its praise is levied at its intuitive design, and reviews mention its “many useful features.” It’s similar to the previous entries as Overcast shares some of the same capabilities, like downloading episodes for offline listening, although it boasts some unique tricks up its sleeve.
Voice Boost cleans up audio mixing so all podcasts play at the same volume. Smart Speed cuts out those awkward silences. Overcast does have ads, but you can get rid of them with the Premium subscription.
We also want to give an honorable mention to Spotify. It’s done a lot of work in fostering that side of its business, becoming a major player in the podcasting world. However, it’s difficult to recommend it as a replacement to Google Podcasts for the same reason we can’t really suggest YouTube Music. Spotify is a space for a variety of content, not just one.

A month after taking full ownership of Hulu last November, Disney started beta testing integration with Disney+. Today, Hulu on Disney+ is officially out of beta, making it easy for subscribers to access content for both services. It’s also a way for Disney to push its Hulu bundle, which starts at $9.99 a month with ads. And if you want to go ad-free and download content for offline viewing, there’s the Duo Premium bundle for $19.99 a month.
All your favorite Hulu content is in its own tab, but the big shows (like Shogun) will feature in the main show carousel too. However, if you’re a long-running Hulu viewer, you’ll lose your viewing progress on things you’ve already watched or half-watched.

GLAAD found plenty of policy violations where Meta took no action.
Surprise! Meta is failing to enforce its own rules against anti-trans hate speech on its platforms. GLAAD warns that “extreme anti-trans hate content remains widespread across Instagram, Facebook and Threads.” It reported on dozens of examples of hate speech from Meta’s apps, between June 2023 and March 2024. Despite the posts clearly violating Meta’s policies, the company either claimed “posts were not violative or simply did not take action on them,” according to GLAAD. The group also shared two examples of posts from Threads, Meta’s newest app where the company has tried to “political” content and other “” topics.
GLAAD’s report isn’t the first time Meta’s been criticized for not protecting LGBTQIA+ users. Last year, its own Oversight Board to “improve the accuracy of its enforcement on hate speech towards the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Marvel Games
Marvel Rivals is a third-person 6v6 team-based shooter that sounds very Overwatch-like. It’ll be free to play, and it’s set inside of a “continually evolving universe,” which probably means new levels, new characters and new gameplay modes over time. Testers will be able to play as Spider-Man, Black Panther, Magneto, Magik and eight or nine more unannounced characters. The developers added Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Hulk and Iron Man would also eventually be playable. The alpha will be available in May for PC players. There’s no word on a console release.
Yes, No Man’s Sky is still getting major updates. Developer Hello Games’ next update, due Wednesday, adds procedurally generated space stations (so they’ll be different every time), a ship editor and a Guild system to the nearly eight-year-old space exploration sim. The stations’ broader scale will be evident from the outside, while their interiors will include new shops, gameplay and things to do, including interacting with all those guilds.
Hulu and Disney Plus have officially tied the knot. After almost four months of beta testing, the streaming bundle is here at last, giving people a way to watch content from both services on a single smart TV app.
Disney Plus even made some stylistic changes to its platform as a way to celebrate the union. The logo is more bluish-green, referring to the colors of each platform, and the startup audio mark will sound more orchestral.
For the most part, the final and beta versions are very similar. Hulu will exist on Disney Plus as its own hub alongside Marvel movies and other brand name content in the United States (Hulu isn’t available anywhere else in the world). That part hasn’t changed. However, new information from Disney’s announcement as well as other online reports offer insight into how the partnership will work.
What you need to know
Bundle plans containing both services will start at $9.99 a month for the standard subscription with ads. That’s $2 more than Disney Plus Basic. There will also be a premium plan without commercials for $19.99 a month. Alongside these two, the company will offer a pair of Trio subscriptions that include ESPN Plus as part of the package.
Trio Basic combines all three for $14.99 a month. As the name suggests, this version includes ads. Trio Premium removes the commercials and bumps up the price to $24.99. Of course, you can always purchase a subscription to whatever platform you want separately. Multiple viewing options will continue to exist.
Not everything on Hulu will be available on Disney Plus. Variety says certain shows, like Modern Family and Love Island, are not going to show up because of “content licensing restrictions”. These restrictions were first seen in the beta and remain for the time being.
New interoperability
Starting today, March 27, Disney Plus will begin to recommend Hulu content to viewers in order to encourage them to buy the new bundle. Developers at the company also made changes to the service’s search engine to improve content personalization.
According to The Verge, “what you watch on Hulu will affect your Disney Plus recommendations and vice versa”. What’s more, it may be possible to merge accounts. A company representative told us that if you have subscriptions to both services and you use the same email, the Hulu tile will automatically show up on the Disney Plus app. If you use different emails, you’ll have to contact Disney Plus support to link them together.

There is one major exclusion in all this: no live channels. Nothing from Hulu Live TV will be present “for the foreseeable future”. If you want sports, reps told us you’ll have to purchase one of the Disney Trio plans.

Now, there’s a new kid on the block looking to leverage it. As we noted at CES 2024 in January, Creative Labs’ Aurvana Ace 2 wowed us for being both affordable and toting this new game-changing new audio hardware. Sometimes, though, you want to see what a bigger budget (and wider margins) can bring to a true wireless earbuds proposition, right?
That’s what you get with the new Noble FoKus Triumph, a hand-painted set of premium earbuds (not a 1970s car), which has now finally hit shelves with a price that, while undeniably high-end, isn’t ridiculously so.
In case you’re not familiar with Noble, (that’s fine, we’re all friends here) the IEMs specialist’s FoKus Triumph is its third product made in conjunction with xMEMS, following the Falcon Max and XM1 earbuds, which can be yours for around $270 / £200 / AU$380 or $599 / £499 / AU$965 respectively.
FoKus Triumph is driven by a custom 6.5mm dynamic driver coupled with Cowell, an all-silicon xMEMS-based speaker, rather than the company’s Montara, Montara Plus, or Cypress options. To clarify that driver configuration, Noble tells us its latest fully wireless earbuds use that 6.5mm custom dynamic driver to handle the bass and midrange frequencies, with xMEMS’ Cowell solid state driver “serving as a tweeter”.
Pre-production units toting this hybrid design were tested by visitors at xMEMS’ CES suite in January, including us. While we praised the sound, we assumed their Alcantara covered charging case, ergonomic design and hand-painted faceplates would make their pricing a little rich for our blood. But, we’ve been pleasantly surprised…

To cap it all, FoKus Triumph’s sound signature was professionally tuned by a revered Noble Audio acoustic designer known only as The Wizard, an individual with years of expertise (and some stonking hits in IEMs) under their belt. You also get Qualcomm’s cVc noise cancelling tech for phone calls, multi-point connectivity, a hear-through mode, on-ear controls, wireless charging, and Noble’s FoKus companion app.
And that pricing? They’re available now in black only (although the inside of the case is a refreshing orange shade), for $369 / £339, which is around AU$655. At this price, they’re certainly in the premium sector, yes, but then again it’s the same arena as you’ll find the likes of Astell & Kern – and the Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2 are actually a little more expensive.
