Delay in foldable iPhone launch brings some respite for Samsung

[ad_1]

Samsung was once a force to reckon with in the foldable smartphone space. However, its market share has dropped over the past year. While it is still the number one foldable phone brand, Huawei is expected to defeat it in the second quarter of this year.

The South Korean firm will get some respite, as Apple has reportedly delayed the launch of its first foldable iPhone.

First foldable iPhone could launch in 2027 instead of 2026

Foldable Apple iPhone

A report from AlphaBiz claims that Apple has delayed the launch of its first foldable iPhone from the fourth quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027. The report quotes an unnamed person who is familiar with Apple’s internal matters. However, the production and supply of components for that foldable iPhone seem to be going as per the initial schedule.

Apparently, the foldable iPhone will have minimal screen crease, thanks to Apple’s new screen technology that etches a part of the screen’s layer. This makes the screen easier to bend and minimizes light reflections and crease visibility. The inner surface of the screen cover is filled with polymer material, and the rough texture of the filler material reduces reflections.

If this information is correct, the first foldable iPhone will likely compete with the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Samsung is expected to launch a lower-cost Galaxy Z Flip 6 version, priced around $800. A report also claimed that the South Korean firm could launch a higher-end version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with a built-in S Pen slot and better cameras.

Two New AirPods 4 Models Expected to Launch in September or October

Gurman expects both fourth-generation AirPods models to feature a new design with better fit, improved sound quality, and an updated charging case with a USB-C port. The higher-end ones will also feature active noise cancellation and a speaker in the charging case that can play a sound for Find My location tracking, he said.

Apple plans to discontinue the second-generation and third-generation AirPods after launching the two fourth-generation models, he previously said.

Gurman does not expect new AirPods Pro to launch until next year at the earliest, but he said the current models will get a new hearing aid mode with iOS 18. He added that Apple is also working on a hearing test feature for AirPods.

Galaxy A35 gets a software update less than a week after launch

[ad_1]

The Galaxy A35, along with the Galaxy A55, is the first mid-range Samsung phone that runs Android 14 and One UI 6.1 out of the box. It is eligible for four major OS upgrades and security updates for five years, and software support for the phone is off to a good start.

The Galaxy A35 was announced and went on sale in some markets on Monday, March 11, and just three days later, it is already getting its first software update. It’s unclear how widely it is available, however. As of March 14, we can only confirm that it has been released in India.

The update comes with the firmware version A356XXU1AXBB, and while it’s not just a security update, we don’t know what it brings to the phone as the changelog doesn’t include any specifics. But we can assume that the update doesn’t do much, as it is only around 270MB in size.

It even lacks the March 2024 security patch. The A35 launched with the February security patch preinstalled, and that won’t change once the update in question has been installed on the phone.

Since the Galaxy A35 launched less than a week ago, there probably aren’t a lot of people using it at this time, but the update will be waiting for buyers once they get the A35 and set it up. As with all Galaxy smartphones, updates will be downloadable from the A35’s Settings » Software update menu.

Apple Vision Pro Likely to Launch in These Nine Countries Next

[ad_1]

Apple will soon add 12 new languages to the virtual keyboard on the Vision Pro, based on code discovered by MacRumors. Right now, the Apple Vision Pro keyboard only supports English (US) and Emoji, which makes sense as it is limited to the United States.

apple vision pro virtual keyboard
To bring the Vision Pro to new countries, Apple needs to add support for additional languages. The code indicates the following languages will be added:

  • Cantonese, Traditional
  • Chinese, Simplified
  • English (Australia)
  • English (Canada)
  • English (Japan)
  • English (Singapore)
  • English (UK)
  • French (Canada)
  • French (France)
  • German (Germany)
  • Japanese
  • Korean

It’s likely that these language additions hint at where Apple will launch the Vision Pro next.

When the Vision Pro launched, Apple said that it would bring the Vision Pro to additional countries later this year, but the company did not provide timing. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple will expand Vision Pro availability to additional markets prior to the June Worldwide Developers Conference.

11.1-inch iPad Pro might be in short supply at launch

[ad_1]

Apple will soon debut the M3 iPad Pros with OLED screens. A new rumor suggests the smaller 11.1-inch model could be in short supply at launch.

This is due to the panels being in limited supply initially. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro apparently won’t have any supply issues.

Apple to soon get a second OLED iPad Pro supplier

Apple’s upcoming M3 iPad Pros will supposedly use 11.1-inch and 12.9-inch OLED displays. This would be a big upgrade from the current gen models’ LCD and mini LED panels.

Display analyst Ross Young, in an X post, claims the 11.1-inch iPad Pro’s panel production is significantly behind the 12.9-inch model. Samsung Display is currently the sole supplier of the screen. LG Display will start production of the 11.1-inch OLED panels later this month, which should ease supply issues.

So, the 11.1-inch iPad Pro might be in short supply initially, but its availability should improve in the following weeks. LG is already the secondary supplier of 12.9-inch OLED screens for Apple, so the bigger iPad Pro should have better availability at launch.

M3 iPad Pro won’t start shipping before April

Previous reports indicate Apple could launch the M3 iPad Pro in late March or early April. Ross reaffirmed this, saying the panel shipments started in February, and the new iPads won’t start shipping until April.

Apart from an OLED screen, a faster M3 chip, and a thinner chassis, Apple’s 2024 iPad Pro lineup is unlikely to sport other significant changes. We wish Apple would improve the battery life or add extra ports to the tablet, but the chances appear slim.

Alongside new M3 iPad Pros, Apple will purportedly also refresh its iPad Air lineup. Besides an internal spec bump, the company will add a 12.9-inch iPad Air to the lineup, whose design recently leaked in CAD renders. A new revamped Magic Keyboard should debut alongside the new tablets with an aluminum casing.

iPad Air 12

Apple is expected to release a larger 12.9-inch iPad Air

In his Power On newsletter on Sunday, Gurman reiterated that Apple is preparing a special build of the already-released iPadOS 17.4 update for the new iPads:

Apple is preparing to launch revamped iPad Pros, new iPad Airs (including a 12.9-inch version), a Magic Keyboard and upgraded Apple Pencil. Look for that new hardware around the end of March or in April, as that’s when the accompanying iPadOS 17.4 software should be ready to go.

The following iPad-related announcements are expected in the March-April window:

Gurman previously ruled out an Apple Event for the new iPads. Instead, the devices will likely be announced in a press release on the Apple Newsroom website, like the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M3 chip were last week.

New Audi S3 Sportback and Saloon teased ahead of launch

New Audi S3

Audi has shared some details on the new Audi S3 and also some camouflaged photos of the car in both body types, Sportback and Saloon. The car will be powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine that produces 333 PS and 420 NM of torque.

Thanks to an upgrade, the 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder engine now boasts an extra 23 horsepower and an additional 20Nm of torque, ensuring you’ve got plenty of oomph for those spirited drives. This means you can enjoy robust pulling power and zippy acceleration anytime. The best part? This surge of power is ready and waiting across a broad spectrum from 2,100 to 5,500rpm. It zips from 0-62mph in just 4.7 seconds, with its top speed gracefully capped at 155mph.

New Audi S3

To add to the thrill, the turbocharger gets a bit of a pre-boost, guaranteeing that power comes on quicker and smoother. This means when you’re cruising or gently accelerating, the turbocharger spins steadily, ensuring a consistent flow of power. Plus, with the throttle valve staying open during those push-it-to-the-limit moments, you get an even better performance. The longer and wider the throttle valve stays open, the quicker the torque piles on, giving you an even peppier engine response. This is especially noticeable when you switch to dynamic mode or give the new dynamic plus profile a whirl.

New Audi S3

It will come with a torque splitter to increase agility and stability and will also feature larger brakes and performance tyres which will improve the car’s handling, plus a sportier transmission with Audi’s seven-speed S tronic.

New Audi S3

We are looking forward to seeing the final design of the new Audi S3, you can find out some more information over at the Audi website at the link below.
