Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) pricing and availability revealed

Earlier this week, Samsung silently launched the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) by listing the tablet on the company’s official website for Romania. However, the brand had neither revealed the price nor the availability details of the device. Well, that’s changing today. Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) in the United Kingdom, and along with it, the company has revealed the tablet’s price and availability details for the region.

According to Samsung’s official website for the UK, the 64GB storage variant of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) costs GBP 349 and the 128GB storage variant of the tablet costs GBP 379 in the country. Both models are readily available to purchase from the website. However, unlike in Romania, the tablet is available in only one color option in the UK, and that’s Grey. It’s also worth mentioning that the device comes in a Wi-Fi-only variant in the country. There’s no cellular model on offer in the region.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) specifications

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) is a refreshed version of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) which was a refreshed version of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2020). The latest model shares most of its specifications with its predecessor, except for having a less capable processor and better connectivity options.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has a 10.4-inch LCD with 2,000 x 1,200 pixels resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. The tablet used the Exynos 1280 SoC at the helm. It comes in two memory configurations globally: 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage. There’s a microSD card slot onboard.

It runs on Samsung’s Android 14-based One UI 6.1 software customization. You get an 8MP camera at the rear and a 5MP sensor at the front. The tablet packs a 7,40mAh battery. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.3, and USB Type-C port. The device also comes bundled with an S Pen.

Samsung is expected to bring the Galaxy M15 5G and the Galaxy M55 to India soon. Ahead of their official announcement, though, the pricing of those upcoming mid-range phones has leaked, giving us an early look at what to expect from them.

According to tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, the Galaxy M15 5G will be launched in India in two variants: 4GB RAM + 128GB Storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB Storage. The one with 4GB RAM will reportedly be priced at INR 13,499 ($162), while the one with 6GB RAM could be priced at INR 14,999 ($180). The phone will be available in three colors.

The Galaxy M55 will be launched in two colors. It could be priced at INR 26,999 ($323) for the variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant could be priced at INR 29,999 ($360), while the one with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage could set you back by INR 32,999 ($395).

It has a 13MP selfie camera, a 50MP primary rear camera, a 5MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. It is powered by a 6,000mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint reader and Android 14 OS. It will likely come with One UI 6.1 out of the box, and you can watch its features in our video below.

The Galaxy M55 has already been launched in Brazil. It has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ screen with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,000 nits peak brightness in HBM mode. It has a 50MP selfie camera, a 50MP primary rear camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. It can record 4K 30fps videos with EIS using its front and rear primary cameras.

Samsung Galaxy phones will soon get more detailed battery stats

Samsung is bringing back one of the most requested features related to battery life statistics to Galaxy devices. Galaxy devices have had a way to check screen-on time and battery life stats since they were last charged, but Samsung removed it with One UI 6.0. The company is now correcting its misstep.

‘Since Last Charge’ battery life stats coming soon with Device Care update

A new version (13.8.06.11) of the Device Care app is now available online which brings back the ‘Since Last Charge’ filter to the battery life graph. While the update is currently unavailable for most people, it can be downloaded from APK Mirror or other safe places (via Mhm7876 on Reddit) and installed even if your phone is running One UI 6.0 or One UI 5.1.

As you can see in the screenshots above, once you’ve installed the APK file of the latest version of the Device Care app, you can see two filters in the drop-down menu: Today and Since Last Charge. The Today selection displays the current day’s battery charging and battery life graph. When you select the Sine Last Charge option, the battery life graph displays the screen-on time since your Galaxy device was last charged.

This new version of the Device Care app may become available soon to everyone via the Galaxy Store.

Samsung Galaxy S23 gets One UI 6.1 in India as well

Today is the day when millions of Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series phones will get One UI 6.1 update. Earlier today, the update started rolling out in South Korea. Then, it was released in Europe and the US. Samsung is now rolling out the One UI 6.1 update to the Galaxy S23 series in India.

Galaxy S23 series gets One UI 6.1 update in India

The One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra comes bearing firmware version S91xBXXU3CXCF in India. It has a download size of around 3.1GB, depending on the model. It does not include the April 2024 security patch, though, which is available for the Galaxy S24.

If you have a Galaxy S23 series phone and live in India, you can now install the new feature-packed software update. To do that, open the Settings app on your phone, navigate to Software update, and tap Download and install.

You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database shortly and flash it manually.

One UI 6.1 features

One UI 6.1 brings several new AI features to the Galaxy S23 series. Some of those features include Circle to Search which lets you search for anything visible on the screen. It also brings real-time language translation in messages and during voice calls. The Interpreter Mode allows you to interact with people face-to-face in different languages.

Samsung Keyboard, powered by Galaxy AI, offers language translation, spellcheck, and language improvement. The keyboard remains visible while you are using voice input. You can create custom backgrounds for alarms and reminders.

Generative AI-powered Wallpaper Generator is also a part of the update, and you can use text prompts to create wallpapers of your choice. Wallpapers now have more effects, including color effects and frames. There are additional depth effects for wallpapers with people or pets.

Galaxy AI is embedded into Samsung Internet, too, allowing you to summarize webpages and articles. It also lets you translate webpages into different languages. Note Assist feature lets you summarize and auto-format your notes. Voice Recorder also uses AI to transcribe meetings and automatically tag people who are speaking at the point of time.

The built-in Photo Editor can now use AI to reframe pictures, remove or resize objects/subjects in an image, and even move objects from one image to another. It also brings more accurate image clipping, and you can use those clipped images as stickers. You can even customize those stickers by drawing. AI also improves search within the Gallery app.

You can press and hold on a video to turn any video into a slow-motion video. This feature is called Instant Slo Mo and it uses AI to generate frames between two original frames.

Other features include improved Quick Share, Samsung Find app, new Actions and Conditions for the Modes And Routines app, Bluetooth Auracast-based audio casting controls, and syncing Samsung Internet tab groups with other devices. Samsung Pass now has support for passkeys, while Samsung Cloud now has improved data protection.

In Samsung Health, you can compete against yourself based on past workout records. It has more customizable options for daily targets. For women, it has improved cycle tracking. One UI 6.1 has easier access to video call effects and microphone modes.

There are new widgets that you can place on the lock screen. Those widgets are from Samsung’s stock apps, including Battery, Calendar, Clock, Reminder, Samsung Health, and Weather.

One UI 6.1 also brings Google Search suggestions in Finder. There are now two more ways to protect your battery health. You can open all minimized apps at once. The Reminders app has more categories.

One UI 6.1 update rolling out for the Galaxy Tab S9 series

Samsung is rolling out One UI 6.1 to the Galaxy Tab S9 series. The Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Tab S9 Ultra are the only tablets included in the initial rollout, with no word from Samsung on when other tablets will get the update.

They are also the only tablets that the company says will receive the Galaxy AI features through the One UI 6.1 update. Samsung is reviewing the possibility of bringing Galaxy AI to older flagships, but right now, only flagship phones and tablets launched in 2023 are on the eligibility list.

Europe is the first region to get the Galaxy Tab S9 update. Only the 5G variants are being updated at this time, and it could be a few days before the Wi-Fi variants join the party. However, in some regions, the Wi-Fi variants may receive the update before the 5G variants.

Once the One UI 6.1 update reaches your country/region, you will be able to download it by tapping the Download and install option in the tablet’s Settings » Software update menu. There’s also the option to upgrade your tablet using firmware available in the SamMobile firmware archive, though you will need a Windows PC for this.

Galaxy Tab S9 One UI 6.1 update

One UI 6.1 is already coming later than we had hoped, but depending on your region, you can expect to wait a few more days for it to arrive on your Tab S9, S9+, or S9 Ultra as these updates are rolled out in phases and gradually expand to all regions.

Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy M55, and it is now available for pre-order in Brazil. It is a modified version of the Galaxy A55, and it trades some features for others to offer a better-specced phone in some regards. So what’s different compared to the Galaxy A55?

The Galaxy M55 has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM), but HDR brightness could be even higher. It also features stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, so it is a great package for watching videos. The phone has an in-display fingerprint reader.

It is powered by the relatively powerful Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, which performs better than the Snapdragon 778G+ but slightly lower than the MediaTek Dimensity 7200. The phone has 8GB RAM, 256GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. It runs Android 14 (One UI 6.0) out of the box and will get four years of Android OS updates and five years of security updates. It also features Samsung Knox Vault with EAL5+ certification.

Samsung Galaxy M55 Cameras

The Galaxy M55 has a 50MP selfie camera, the highest resolution selfie camera ever on a Samsung phone. On the rear, it has a 50MP primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. It can record 4K 30fps videos with VDIS (Electronic Image Stabilization for videos) using its front and primary rear cameras. It also has the Dual Video Recording feature, allowing you to record videos from front and rear cameras simultaneously.

A 5,000mAh battery powers the Galaxy M55, similar to the Galaxy A55. However, the Galaxy M55 one-ups the Galaxy A55 with 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0, topping up to 70% in just 30 minutes. It also features GNSS, a hybrid dual-SIM card slot, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetoo9th 5.2, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It weighs 180g and is 7.8mm thin.

Galaxy M55 pricing and colors

The Galaxy M55 is priced at BRL 2,699.10 ($542) in Brazil and is available for pre-order from Samsung’s website. It has two color options: Dark Blue and Light Green. It could be launched in India and other nearby countries within the next few days.

After the US, Galaxy S23 One UI 6.1 update is live in Europe

Just a few hours after the Galaxy S23 One UI 6.1 update went live in the USA, Samsung has started rolling it out in Europe. Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra owners should be able to download the update in most countries in the region by the end of the day.

The Galaxy S23 FE doesn’t seem to be getting One UI 6.1 yet, but that could change in a few hours as Samsung confirmed that all four Galaxy S23 models will get One UI 6.1 from March 28.

To check if One UI 6.1 is available for your S23 series phone, navigate to its Settings » Software update menu and hit the Download and install button. Thanks to the Galaxy AI features that are included with One UI 6.1, the update is a 3GB download, so you may want to use a Wi-Fi connection or make sure your data plan has sufficient bandwidth.

Samsung Galaxy S24 phones are on sale for record-low prices at Amazon

Samsung makes some of the best Android phones you can get right now and the latest models have dropped to all-time-low prices. If you’ve been waiting for a good deal on the high-end Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, you’re in luck — the handset with 256GB of storage is $150 off and down to $1,150. The Galaxy S24+ is also on sale for $850 right now.

We gave the Galaxy S24 Ultra a score of 89 in our review. We found it to be very expensive (this discount helps mitigate that!) and the design and lack of Qi 2 support were drawbacks. However, we appreciated the camera upgrades and felt the S24 Ultra delivered great performance and offered terrific battery life. It often had a 50 percent charge remaining after 24 hours of regular use, thanks to the large battery and power efficiency gains afforded by the new processor.

One other major thing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset powers is a host of on-device generative AI (GAI) features, the big selling point for the Galaxy lineup this year as Samsung tries to compete with Google Pixel devices on that front. An interpreter mode can translate languages during calls, while the Chat Assist tool can check the grammar, spelling and tone of your messages before sending them. There are also AI-powered options for image editing and search. While the AI tools more or less work as expected, we felt that they’re not quite as polished as Google’s versions. Nevertheless, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is our pick for the best premium Android phone.

The Galaxy S24+ also has a $150 discount right now. That too marks a record low for a version with 256GB of storage — the handset currently costs $850. Like its smaller sibling, the S24, the S24+ earned a score of 87 in our review. We appreciated the battery life and (for the most part) the GAI tools, though we felt that low-light photography performance was somewhat lacking. Those who prefer foldables may be more interested in the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Again, that’s $150 off at $850 for 256GB of storage. However, it’s $50 more than the lowest price we’ve seen for the handset thus far.

Galaxy A54’s camera can easily keep up with the newer A55

Although the new Galaxy A55 from Samsung seems to be wiping the floor with the older Galaxy A54 in the display department, the same cannot be said about the cameras. According to independent reviewer DxOMark, the Galaxy 54 and A55 camera systems perform almost the same.

These results aren’t all that surprising, seeing how the Galaxy A54 and A55 seemingly use the same camera hardware. On paper, they are the same.

The camera setups include 50MP primary cameras with PDAF and OIS, 12MP ultra-wide shooters, 5MP macro cameras, and 32MP selfie sensors — all with identical apertures and pixel sizes across the two phones.

Even so, the Galaxy A55 has a bit of an edge over the Galaxy A54. But not by much, and the difference certainly isn’t as huge as it is for their displays.

The cameras are no reason to upgrade your Galaxy A54

According to DxOMark, the Galaxy A55 camera ranks 15th in the $400-$600 phone segment, whereas your Galaxy A54 ranks 16th. In the global ranking, which includes phones from all price segments, the Galaxy A55 ranks 117th, and the A54 is 122nd.

Thanks to newer software and image processing tricks, the Galaxy A55 appears to perform marginally better than the Galaxy A54 in some areas, including low-light photos and videos.

Interestingly, though, the Galaxy A54 beats the Galaxy A55 in a couple of other categories, such as zoom and bokeh. Surprisingly, the Galaxy A54 appears to be handling depth-of-field better than the newer A55.

If you are still pondering upgrading your Galaxy A54 to the newer Galaxy A55, and if you decide to do it, you will benefit from newer Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection for a more competent display, an aluminum frame instead of a plastic one, a more powerful Exynos 1480 chip, and seamless updates.

However, the camera experience doesn’t seem all that different, and Samsung hasn’t elevated it to a level high enough to warrant a trade-in from the A54 to the A55 at your expense.

If you need a better camera than the one the Galaxy A54 provides, you will have to look at pricier devices, such as the Galaxy S23 FE and up. The Galaxy S23 FE in DxOMark’s camera test ranks 3rd in the $400-$600 price range and 60th globally. It is vastly superior to the Galaxy A54 and A55.
