Popular accessory maker Logitech this week announced new keyboard case options that are designed for Apple’s iPad Air and iPad Pro models, offering an alternative to the more expensive Magic Keyboard options from Apple.
The Logitech Combo Touch is compatible with both sizes of the iPad Air and the two thin and light iPad Pro models. Logitech says that the Logitech Combo Touch is its lightest keyboard to date, improving portability and limiting the bulk added to a tablet setup.
The Combo Touch comes with a detachable keyboard and flexible kickstand for multiple use modes. It can be used for typing in the standard keyboard mode, or folded in a way that allows for sketching, reading, and Apple Pencil use.
There is a multi-touch trackpad, which Logitech says offers intuitive and precise input and navigation. There are auto-backlit keys in a standard layout with sixteen brightness levels. Shortcut keys allow easy access to volume control, media playback, screenshots, and more, plus there is a Smart Connector for connectivity so there’s no need for Bluetooth.
The Combo Touch for the 11-inch iPad Air is $200, while the Combo Touch for the 13-inch model is $230. The iPad Pro versions are priced at $230 and $260, respectively, for the 11-inch and 13-inch models. The keyboards can be purchased from the Logitech website.

2024 iPad redesigns mean new accessories
The 13-inch version of the M4 iPad Pro is advertised as “the thinnest Apple product ever,” and the new design means many accessories made for older versions no longer fit.
But the iPad-maker isn’t the only one who offers accessories for the 2024 iPad Pro and iPad Air. Other companies have their own offerings. Not all of these are available yet, but the tablets themselves won’t launch until May 15.
Logitech keyboard case

Logitech quickly unveiled versions of its Combo Touch keyboard case for the redesigned Air and Pro. Unlike the Magic Keyboard, Logitech’s includes a protective case that stays on the computer even when the keyboard gets left behind to save on weight.
“Whether you’re typing, sketching, viewing, or reading, Combo Touch adapts to your needs effortlessly,” said Logitech.
These are premium products and priced to match. The version for the 13-inch iPad Pro is $259.99 while the one for the 11-inch model is $229.99. As the 2024 iPad Air, Logitech’s keyboard case for the 13-inch model is $229.99 while the 11-inch one is $199.99.
“Statement Series Studio provides protection and versatility both on and off the job,” promises OtterBox. Photo: OtterBox
OtterBox is known for very protective cases, and it introduced a new line for the latest iPads: Statement Series Studio. It includes an adjustable stand and removable front flap, but was still designed to add minimal bulk.
“Statement Series Studio for the new Apple iPad Pro and iPad Air devices is one of our most technically complex cases ever,” said OtterBox CEO JC Richardson.
It’s $99.95 in blue or grey, and currently an Apple Store exclusive.
In addition, OtterBox plans to offer the Symmetry Series Folio ($89.95) and Defender Series ($129.95) case and screen protection ($39.95 – $49.95) for the new iPad Pro and iPad Air devices.
Zagg cases and screen protectors
Zagg was ready for the launch of the 2024 iPad Pro and iPad Air with multiple accessories.
Its has two cases available. Crystal Palace ($49.99-$59.99) shows off the tablet while providing up to 6.5 feet (2m) of drop protection. And Denali ($59.99-$69.99) provides the same drop protection while adding a snap-on screen protector, stand, attachment points for a strap and more.
Zagg also has screen protectors for Apple’s latest. Glass XTR3 ($69.99-$79.99) is up to 10X stronger than traditional glass screen protection. Glass Elite ($49.99-$59.99) has been tested to be up to 5x stronger, and it hides fingerprints. Fusion Canvas ($49.99) is textured to make using the iPad feel like drawing or writing on paper.
Pitaka is bring its MagEZ Folio 2 case to the fresh versions of iPad Pro and iPad Air. It can be configured to hold the tablet at a variety of angles, in both portrait and landscape modes. Plus there’s a strap to hold Apple Pencil Pro in place.
The version in blue, black or white for Apple’s 11-inch tablets is $49.99, while the 12.9-inch version is $59.99.
Rebound Magnetic Keyboard Case 360 is a Bluetooth keyboard with a cantilevered design similar to Apple’s Magic Case. But this third-party option includes a detachable case and multiple viewing positions. It’s also far less expensive at $119.99.
The Shift Magnetic Case ($55.99) can support the iPad well above a desk, plus there are other configurations — both portrait and landscape. And it features an Apple Pencil holder. It comes in black, brown, blue, purple and red colors.

One thing we never put in the reviews that make up our best earbuds or best noise cancelling earbuds guides is a mark specific to the case. Usually, we like said charging nest to be pocketable, for the magnets in the lid to keep their precious music-giving cargo safe and if there’s a nice powerful onboard battery for extra stamina, so much the better. But when JBL put a smartwatch-style screen on an earbuds case in December 2022, it initially felt like the game was about to change. This was something we never thought possible!
Although that inaugural screen was pretty, it made the case it was attached to rather big – and our JBL Tour 2 Pro review was something of a mixed bag because it made the earbuds a pricey proposition within a crowded market. Also, the promised message notifications, call history and any social media access via the Tour Pro 2 case never arrived.
The Smart Charging Case settings within the app – neat! (Image credit: JBL)
Well, those extra things still haven’t arrived, but JBL’s screen-adorned case is now quite a bit smaller, slicker and cheaper – the JBL Live Beam 3 are just $200 / £150 (around AU$296), which is $50 or a whopping £70 cheaper than the 2022 Tour Pro 2.
For me, everything is relative and that price drop alone makes this little case much more viable and fun. This is not a review reader (no, that is coming, I promise), it’s merely a brief experiential feature on how I enjoy this little case.
My favorite thing about it? No, it’s not my TechRadar screensaver, it’s the way it notifies you when you’ve got an incoming phone call and offers a friendly on-screen button to accept it, meaning you don’t have to a) dig out your phone or b) try to do it by pressing your earbuds – which I tend to fail at and hang up before I’ve said a word.
What you tellin’ me, JBL Live Beam 3?
Keep talking, or hang up? Do it on the case (and say it was a tunnel) (Image credit: Future)
The screen lets you scroll through playback (play, pause and skip functions); volume; noise cancelling; ambient aware and talk-thru profiles (although to tweak the levels between ‘on’ and ‘off’ you’ll still need your phone and the JBL Headphones app); spatial sound (music, movies and gaming profiles); EQ presets; a cute timer; screen brightness tweaks; lock screen wallpaper changes; voiceaware (to amp up or turn down your own voice during calls); auto-play and pause; Find My Buds; a ‘Notification’ and ‘Message preview’ screen (I’m still working out what these do – a tantalising envelope icon remains, in the top left corner of this tiny screen, but I’m unsure if one can access anything beyond this); a flashlight feature (a bright screen to help you locate an errant bud, perhaps) and language tweaks.
These screens can also be subbed and edited in the companion app, so you only see what you use as you scroll through – and for me, this scrolling is a lot smoother and quicker than in the Tour Pro 2.

Again, this isn’t a fully star-rated review, but for the money, I still like it a lot.
As we said when reporting the JBL Live Beam 3, Live Flex 3 and Live Buds 3’s release in January 2024, the 10mm dynamic driver, up to 48 hours of battery life and Best Fit test add up to a compelling proposition, but a lovely additional feature in the app is something called Personal Sound Amplification. This (not to be confused with Ambient Aware) has a Gain slider to amplify situational sound around you and can be tweaked to favour one ear more, should you wish.
I haven’t tested it extensively yet (again, it’s not a review – yet) but initially, I like it as a perk. In fact, there’s an awful lot to like here, in a much smaller, more affordable JBL package. Watch this space for more…
France 2030 is a strategic €34 billion investment by the French government aiming to kickstart economic growth in the country.
As part of this initiative, the SIRCAPASS project (Surveillance of Road Infrastructures by Passive Sensors) has chosen French firm SilMach to provide ultra-cheap microsensors to monitor and ensure the structural health of bridges across the country.
The €1.7 million project is aimed at monitoring road infrastructures through passive sensors, specifically targeting impact detection, fatigue monitoring, exceptional overload, and crack identification – all tasks that previously were handled manually.
Operate effectively in harsh environments
Built around hybrid MEMS micromechanical sensor technology, these microsensors can record critical structural events without a power source, potentially identifying any hazards that might compromise a bridge’s structural integrity, and hopefully ensuring public safety.
“France 2030 marks a crucial step in SilMach’s development,” said Co-CEO Pierre-François Louvigné. “We are proud to lead this public-private consortium with key actors capable of providing a technological solution for the safety of the French and our economy.”
Fellow Co-CEO Jean-Baptiste Carnet added, “Everyone knows the human and economic cost of a bridge collapse. Our innovations are here to provide a new response to a major societal challenge.”
SilMach says its energy-free microsensor sensors operate effectively even in harsh environments including underwater and in space. With a communication module linked to an information system, the sensor can relay critical data and provide a mechanical memory ensuring access to raw data in a directly exploitable format.

Apple and Star Wars come together in these new accessories. Photo: Casetify
Casetify partnered with Lucasfilm to release an exclusive collection of iPhone cases and other accessories in honor of Star Wars Day. It’s all about the Dark Side of the Force, with a range of styles featuring Darth Vader, the Death Star, stormtroopers and more.
These are limited editions so don’t procrastinate about ordering.
Decorate your iPhone with a new case on Star Wars Day
It’s Star Wars Day thanks to the pun that “May the Fourth be with you” sounds like “May the Force be with you” catchphrase.
Casetify’s latest cases go nostalgic by featuring images from the original trilogy from the 1970s and 1980s.
“Fans will be able to shop a laser-engraved Death Star Aluminium Case and the Darth Vader Leather Embossed Case — honoring the resilience of the iconic space station and the Dark Lord of the Sith,” said the accessory-maker. “In addition to special edition products, customers can shop a variety of cases inspired by the Death Star, Darth Vader’s helmet, stormtroopers, the Empire’s crest, and more.”
Not all of the Star Wars iPhone cases have given in to the Dark Side. There’s one of the Millennium Falcon and another is an iconic scene from Tatooine.
And users of other Apple devices can get into the fun, too. There are iPad cases, MacBook cases, AirPods cases, wireless chargers, clip-on iPhone wallets and more, most featuring Darth Vader, the Death Star, etc.
To see the full collection of Star Wars iPhone cases and other offerings, visit the Casetify website. Prices range from $38 to $112.
Mophie today announced the launch of Juice Pack battery cases that are designed to work with the iPhone 15 lineup. Like Mophie’s prior Juice Pack cases, the latest version attaches to the iPhone to provide a little extra battery life during daily use.
The case comes apart in two pieces so that the iPhone can fit inside, and as the iPhone 15 models have USB-C ports, there is a USB-C charger inside that fits right in to the port. The case also has a USB-C port that can be used for charging the case and the iPhone inside.
Priority goes to the iPhone when charging, so if it’s plugged in, it’ll charge up first, and then the case itself will also charge. It’s a super simple solution for adding extra battery life to your phone on a long day.
The Juice Pack for the iPhone 15 Pro Max that we tested ahead of launch has a 3,000mAh battery, so it’s not able to charge an iPhone to full, but it is about an extra half charge. The 15 and 15 Pro Juice Pack models have a 2,400mAh battery inside because they’re smaller, but that also delivers about the same 50 percent battery charge. In my testing, I was able to get about an additional 45 percent battery out of the case once I had drained my iPhone battery, so Mophie’s estimate seems about right.
Mophie’s Juice Pack case is made from a soft-touch material that’s pleasant in the hand and it only comes in black. It offers a protective lip around the iPhone’s display and camera, and covers all of the buttons and ports for additional protection. There’s a bump at the back for the battery, and while the case remains on the slimmer side is not too bulky, it does add some extra weight.
The case is meant to provide protection from a drop of up to six feet, and it feels rugged enough to be able to handle that kind of impact without damage to the iPhone. Mophie says that the extra battery life provides up to 44 hours of talk time and music playback, or up to 11 hours of video playback.
There’s a button on the back to turn the Juice Pack on and off and to check charge level with the four LEDs. It’s handy to be able to turn it off to control when you want to use up the extra battery life rather than having it charge automatically, but note that you do need to hold it down for a few seconds to get charging to initiate. Mophie has Juice Pack cases for the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, but there is not a model for the iPhone 15 Plus.

Rumors say a new 12.9-inch iPad Air will come out soon. And ESR is banking on it early with the release of its new range of cases for the expected tablet — the first time Apple would offer that size outside of its iPad Pro lineup.

New ESR iPad Air cases gamble on 12.9-inch iPad Air release
Everyone seems to expect Apple to put out a 12.9-inch iPad Air soon. It will mark a first for the iPhone giant, if it puts out its lower-cost tablet in a larger size previously reserved for its iPad Pro lineup. Currently, iPad Air (5th generation) comes only in the 10.9-inch size.
Perhaps Apple confirmed the upcoming release with accessories makers. That would explain why ESR decided to be first out of the gate, even before the tablet comes out, to maximize initial case sales upon release of the new iPad.
However, there’s no certainty ESR’s new cases for a 12.9-inch iPad Air will fit what Apple releases, as the release is not confirmed.
New ESR cases
On Amazon, ESR promotes a range of three new cases for a 12.9-inch iPad Air with the slogan, “Transform and Do It All.” Of the three cases below, only one is available for purchase on Amazon so far: Rebound Hybrid Case 360. All three are listed on ESR’s website, but currently say “out of stock.” Presumably, they will be available soon.
