No, you didn’t deactivate the wake-up alarm in your sleep this morning. Apple is aware of a problem that sometimes causes the iPhone’s Clock app to fail to set off alarms.

A fix is on the way.

iPhone generally makes a brilliant alarm clock. The built-in Clock app makes it easy to set separate wake-up alarms for weekdays, weekends and special occasions, and a snooze button is built in. Plus, the handset is conveniently right next to you in bed after you fell asleep at 2 AM scrolling through TikTok.

But reports of an alarming bug are spreading on social media. The Clock application is failing. And no wake-up alarm means people are oversleeping for work, school, etc. It’s apparently been happening for several days.

The problem is getting enough attention that there was a Today Show segment about it on Tuesday:

But there’s some good news. Today Show reports, “Apple says it is aware of an issue causing some iPhone alarms to not play the expected sound and says it is working on a fix.”

This is the second time this week an iPhone bug has made headlines. Many users have have had problems with Apple ID, too.
