Community's Yvette Nicole Brown Featured In Voting Rights PSA (Exclusive)

A few days after the announcement that the community would receive the Peacock Reunion movie, one of the show's stars, Turkey King Yvette Nicole Brown, wrote a public statement asking citizens of the US state of Georgia to check their voters. Enrollment status after thousands. They were challenged or removed from the voter list. Clean follows Gov. Brian Kemp's initiative to crack down on voter fraud by allowing any Georgian to question someone's ability to vote. In "The Avenger, " an ad campaign by investigative reporter Greg Palast, Brown tells the story of two men who used the new system to compete for the votes of 36,000 Georgians. He and Palast previously collaborated on the 2020 short film The Voice.

Star Wars and Marvel star Rosario Dawson will narrate Vigilante , which questions the morality and legality of Kemp's efforts to limit voting rights. It takes its name from the two aforementioned "voters" who portray Doc Holliday during interviews in the film.

"I read Greg's book about what we can do to keep our voices," Brown told ComicBook.com in 2020. “And this year he reached out and said, 'Do you want me to cut it?' And I said yes, and he said, "Do you want to tell me?" he said, and I said "definitely". It is very important that everyone knows that it is their right to vote, news is seen as a privilege or someone is giving us a gift. But no, it's true. So I wanted to get involved and do it. I am sure that he is fighting for his rights and they have the same government."

"Yvette and Rosario were incredible, lending not only their voices, but their time and energy," Palast told ComicBook.com. "Yvette, a favorite character from one of our community's favorite shows, always said, 'She's cute.'

You can watch the video below.

Palast and his nonprofit, the Palast Research Foundation, have produced documentaries and written books and comics on topics ranging from Hurricane Katrina to Hugo Chavez. Since 2001, Palast has focused on voting rights and how the Republican and Democratic parties work to disenfranchise voters they see as threats.

"Working with Rosario is a dream come true because she's so passionate and incredibly talented," director David Ambrose told us. “His voice brought life and energy to the film. This year we did another PSA with Yvette Nicole Brown to raise awareness in Georgia and make sure their voices are not questioned or washed away. He is very passionate about preaching. The right to vote is inspiring. I speak with authority Yvette and I know people will listen. We are so grateful to be working with such talented and generous women to bring this message to a wider audience and expose the tactics of voice suppression.”

The notices will be displayed in several cities starting today in Atlanta and continuing through next week. It will be available digitally here. You can check if there's a screening near you on the show's website, where you can pre-order a signed DVD of the film if you'd like.

England campaigner Lucy Bronze says ending abusive behavior and sexual harassment in women's sport is "high on the list".

US soccer's governing body has announced it will soon make reforms after an independent investigation found abuse and neglect to be "systematic" in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).

The Bronze Lion has been improving her skills at the US universities and is preparing to face the world champions at a sold-out Wembley Stadium on Friday night.

The 30-year-old said the England players fully support those affected.

"Women's sports often have problems like this and I think they've been around for a long time, but people don't have the courage to come forward," says Bronze.

“So it's nothing new that we've finally responded to.

"It's really sad to read these stories. I'm very lucky to have a career where I don't have this problem.

"I've never looked back and thought, 'That was so funny.'" I'd like to think a lot of my teammates were lucky enough to say the same thing.

“We've been saying for a long time that a lot needs to change in women's sport and this is at the top of the list of things that need to change.

"Sad offensive stories and allegations don't just happen in women's football, there are many women's sports where this happens and we support all women standing up and speaking out."

The U.S. investigation by Sally Yates and King & Spalding LLP began last year after North Carolina Courage coach Paul Riley was indicted.

We interviewed over 200 NWSL players for the report.

As well as looking into the allegations against England's Riley, the inquiry is also looking into allegations against two other coaches, Northern Ireland's Rory Dames and Christy Holley.

All three denied the incident.

Dams left the Chicago Red Stars last November after reports of verbal abuse and sexual misconduct with players.

Holley left her coaching position in 2016 and claims he was fired by Racing Louisville last year for sexual harassment after similar allegations.

I can't even imagine how hard it is to face and talk.

Lucia bronze

"Each one of us feels sorry for all these players, especially those who spoke and told the truth," continued Barcelona's Bronza.

“I can't imagine how hard it is to face and then talk.

"Instead, they said they hope to prevent things like this from happening again and to hold people accountable."

"As an England team we fully support these players.

"Honestly, it's very embarrassing and I think some of the stories are very upsetting to read."

Pope Francis Featured In New Climate Change Documentary

Pope Francis Featured In New Climate Change Documentary

The film includes footage of the meeting with Pope Francis and unreleased footage of the inauguration of Pope Francis on March 19, 2013.

VATICAN – Pope Francis was the star of a documentary on climate change and the environment that was screened at the Vatican on Tuesday.

The Message , available to stream for free on YouTube Originals from October 4, follows a married climate activist, indigenous leader, climate refugee and marine biologist as they travel from around the world to the Vatican to speak with Pope Francis.

The film includes footage of the meeting with Pope Francis and unreleased footage of the inauguration of Pope Francis on March 19, 2013.

The title of this documentary was inspired by the word "papal" which is used for many papal letters and literally means "circular". The title refers to Pope Francis' 2015 encyclical Laudato si .

Cardinal Raniero Cantalamsa, a missionary to the papal family, also appears in the letter to talk about the Franciscan roots of Pope Francis' ecotours.

The film had its world premiere in the New Congregation Hall of the Vatican on October 4, the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi.

October 4 also marks the official accession of the Holy See to the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement.

Cardinal Michael Czerny, Dean of the Office for the Promotion of Integrated Human Development, presented the film at a press conference on Tuesday. The Dicastery of Cardinal Czerny is a partner in the film, along with the Vatican Communications Office.

The film " Message " emphasizes the main idea of the dialogue, in his words, "Dialogue is the essence of the Holy Father's vision of the human world between the Creator and all creation and us as human beings."

Husung Lee, chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, told a press conference that the film was "a timely reminder of the urgency and importance of Laudato si."

“The scientific and religious communities are clear. The planet is in crisis and its life support systems are in danger. The stakes have never been higher and we must be the source of a solution to this crisis,” he added.

Writer/filmmaker Nicholas Brown said that the practice of documentaries is to "get out of our bubble and meet up on the planet. These moments are the most important, because it is their point of view that influences the most.”

The five main themes of the "Message" are depicted in front of the map of the Vatican. They went to Rome to meet with Pope Francis. Photo: Laudato Si.

The film also features Lorna Gold, president of the Laudato Sy movement.

Cardinal Czerny said: "Films and personal stories convincingly show that the ecological crisis has come and is happening now." “The time for speculation, skepticism, denial and irresponsible populism is over. Terrible floods, severe droughts, heat waves, tornadoes and catastrophic hurricanes have become the new normal in recent years; keep going today, tomorrow will be even worse.”

The cardinal said: In his letter " Laudato si ", Pope Francis said: "I want to have a dialogue with everyone about our common home." The film The Message provides a medium for such encounters and dialogues. This beautiful film, a heartbreaking yet hopeful story, resonates with people all over the world. Get up, be serious, pull yourself together, work together and act now.”

From The Editors Show: Isiah Pacheco Should Be The Featured Running Back

On the latest episode of the Arrowhead Pride Editors' Show podcast, Pete Sweeney and John Dixon discuss the road after the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 4 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

(Listen to the podcast above or click here . Also available on Spotify .)

Isaiah Pacheco should be the starting quarterback

Pete : “Clyde Edwards-Heller is having a great year and is doing everything you ask…I think Isaiah Pacheco might be the best player on the team and I think he might have to touch the ball first. .. Hard to say and I'm trying to stick with Pacheco and CEH… Clyde is having a great year and I think he deserves to touch the ball. I think Isaiah Pacheco is the best in the north and south, he is a good ball carrier on the team… I wouldn't prefer Pacheco over CEH I think the roles could be reversed here.

It was a great victory.

John : Tampa Bay is a great football team. I don't care if their record is 2-1. The Chiefs were 2-1. It is necessary to take into account how many points the defense lost. The defense is supposed to have given up a lot of points in this game. Well, they gave it to Tom Brady! Looking at what happened in that game, it's important to know that Tampa Bay is a good football team… The Chiefs beat them in a game they didn't know how dominant they were.

Persistence in defense

Pete : "Despite Sunday's offense, it's the Chiefs' defense that makes me feel like they're legitimate Super Bowl contenders again for the fifth straight year. The defense is the most cohesive unit on the team. … They're down 31 points – but it's Tom Brady, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin … L. Jarius Snead mentioned Tom Brady thinking he was invisible … Think about their pressure, put those quarterbacks on me — and George Karlaftis . and Chris Jones continue dominate – and the guys still lack that defense… Mike Dana will be back, Trent McDuffie will be back and Willie Gay will be back three games later… When was the last time? Do you think the Chiefs defense had a chance to be in the league's top 5 units?

Return of Trent McDuffie

John : What will that defense look like if Trent McDuffie comes back? The other players are gone — and they're still without those players … We know that when the secondary gets better, the pass rush gets better. So getting McDuffie back there — shutting people down in the few moments he had — could take him to the next level.

Home DNA Tests Have Stripped Anonymity From Donor Conception, With Huge Implications For The Industry

Home DNA Tests Have Stripped Anonymity From Donor Conception, With Huge Implications For The Industry

Cassandra Adams, a housewife, artist and attorney from New Jersey, is always eager to learn more about her legacy. "I've loved genealogy since I was a kid and always ask questions about our family's history, culture and language," says Adams. "I am a family historian – Italian grandfather took me aside to tell all the stories."

When he did a DNA test at home as part of a volunteer study in 2017, he was surprised by the unexpected results. The father's signature mix of British, Dutch and French results in half Italian on the mother's side, as expected, but also half Ashkenazi Jew. That day, he confronted his mother and learned that she was conceived through anonymous sperm donation.

Her world has changed forever.

"Thanks to my DNA match and my mother's guidance, I was able to quickly locate my real father, even though he is anonymous and has no records," says his Right to Know story. This organization supports those affected by the surprising DNA discovery. genetic identity issues and discordant parenting experiences.

Adams suddenly found himself an advocate for MPE (faulty parenting experiences), NPE (non-parental expectations) and the donor community. She hosts online donor groups and supports organizations such as the American Donor Council, Right to Know, Bright Hope and Cure, and others.

"It found my way," he said of his request. “I spent a lot of time working on my discoveries with people in online support groups, writing a lot and trying to explain what was happening to me to people who didn't understand.

"After that, people seemed to agree with what I wrote and I started to discover the healing element in helping others, supporting what we need as donor-born people – especially belated discoveries – and learning how to partially change grief and grief. I'm traumatized into something tangible that can help other people," Adams said. He says.

Donor designs reach mainstream media

Adapted from the hit Netflix documentary, which tells the true story of a fertility doctor who uses his own sperm to impregnate female patients, CNN's special report on donor insemination contributed to The Baby Business news report.

The anonymity of egg or sperm donors has been guaranteed for decades. But with the accessibility of DNA testing at home, anonymity was impossible for many years.

"Many people don't realize how unregulated the fertility industry is, and fraud, error, and negligence happen more often than you might think," said Cara Rubinstein Deyerin, CEO of Right to Know.

"Donor Fraud to Pursue Fertility Fraud Cases." Your nail salon has additional rules. We make people; One case of fraud is one case too. It's a business and the nature of business is always to increase profits," he said.

"According to the Future Market Research Report, the global maternity services market will reach $36 billion next year," he said. "The focus is on the parents' intention to have a child, but not the effect on the child. Our understanding of the impact of assisted reproduction on our father's children is increasing and there will be steps towards transparency and stricter regulations.

Rubinstein Deyerin points out that the change is gradual. As the fertility industry focuses on anonymity, children conceived are now adults, and media across the country are asking, "What rights should donors know?" They ask tough questions, including:

"Anonymity no longer exists," said Rubinstein Deyerin. "People with MPE (experience of parenting a disabled child) often have three goals in terms of their genetic family. First, take a proper medical history. Not knowing half of your medical history has life and death consequences.

"The second is to understand who they are and where they come from… I hope anyone facing a DNA emergency will at least take the time to help with these two goals." "But if you look at your gamete data when you have children, you at least owe them a favor by giving them that information," he said.

Rubinstein Deyerin added, "Some people may want to connect with their new genetic family. That should be a concern for everyone." But the best advice here is to take things slow.

Read : 23 And I Opened Pandora's Family Medical Secret Box: 'Hard to Know, Even Worse Unknown'

said Wendy Kramer, director and co-founder of the Donor Sibling Registry, a global registry with a mission to connect, educate and empower all members of the donor family.

The 501(c)3 nonprofit organization facilitates mutual understanding between donors, recipients, and descendants so they can share important medical information and explore new relationships.

To highlight some of the industry's concerns, Kramer refers to the article "10 Things Your Doctor, Clinic, or Sperm Bank Won't Tell You." The key points of this study include:

  • Lack of education and transparency for people who donate genetic material
  • Lack of diagnosis for medical problems
  • No data checked
  • The donor's intrinsic desire to know their genetic parents
  • The dangers of keeping secrets include:

Kramer's work in distributor design is personal. "I'm married and my husband is barren," she said. "My donor son [Ryan] wanted to know if he had any half-siblings and if his biological father would be open to a relationship."

"Sperm banks and clinics didn't help at all, so we took matters into our own hands," Kramer said. "Since I gave birth to my son under these circumstances, I've always felt it was my responsibility to help him find answers to his questions about his background, medical history and genetics."

Since its founding in 2000, the Donor Sibling Registry has helped connect more than 23,000 of its 81,000 members with first- and second-degree genetic relatives. Wendy's son, Ryan Kramer, co-founded the company with him.

Test on adjustment

"The fertility industry in the United States wants regulation to bring us in line with the rest of the world," said Rubinstein Deyerin. "Technology often develops faster than law."

To understand the unregulated industry, many organizations and lawmakers introduce laws that create impact. For example, at the national level, a recently passed federal law requires sperm and egg donors to provide mandatory medical information.

A law in Colorado will end anonymous sperm and egg donation by 2025. A similar bill is underway in New York. While the rules are a step in the right direction, experts and advocates of donor-designed spaces agree that there is still a long way to go.

"The future of donor conception should be like that of celebrity donors," Adams said. "They want to be included, they want to be known, they want to be recognized by the family. Expanding the definition of family is a very progressive thing.

"The person the donor conceived never replaced them, and their place was never given to anyone who helped create them," Adams continued. "In this case, the person does not have the autonomy and power to make their own decisions about how to express their relationship. Individuals conceived by donors must not intentionally separate themselves from their culture."

For those who are just learning that they were conceived through a donor, or who have had smooth parenting experience, there are resources that can help.

Would Exact Sciences Acquire Invitae? Unlikely.

Would Exact Sciences Acquire Invitae? Unlikely.

© Provided by TheStreet

There are rumors on social media that Exact Sciences will buy Invitae. Investors should stop dreaming.

One of the most important lessons learned from the stock market correction is that the power of positive thinking can only push investors so far.

For Invited Shareholders ( NVTA ): Get the Invited Corporation report , this can lead to even more pain and suffering.

As genetic testing stocks fall, some investors predict that a larger competitor such as Exact Sciences ( EXAS ), reported by Exact Sciences Corporation , will step in and buy Invitae on the cheap.

The speculation may seem plausible given that rumors of a possible merger were circulating in August 2021.

However, hopes for such a deal seem unlikely given investors' assessment of the difficult operating environment affecting all companies and the promising performance of its larger peer.

Profits are the next big thing

Invitae embodied the "growth at any cost" business model that became common at a time when interest rates were extremely low.

Flaws in the company's approach were exposed almost as soon as Wall Street began to assess the impact of rising interest rates. Shares of the genetic testing company are down 83% in 2022.

Investors are aware of the company's performance and recovery, including lower growth expectations, issuing service bills to 33% of its employees and replacing the CEO.

The company expects sales to be flat in 2023. If sales pick up again in 2024, annual growth could be less than half of previous promises.

Some important nuances are lost in the acquisition speculation. One detail is that the work environment of the genetic testing industry has changed. Sema4 ( SMFR ) , 23andMe ( ME ) – Get 23andMe Holding Co. Report and other colleagues also vowed to abandon the incremental business model at all costs.

Exact sciences have never used such an approach. It wasn't meant to be. The company relies on colorectal cancer screening tool Cologuard, which last year was the first and only diagnostic product to generate at least $1 billion in annual sales. The flagship continues to grow at more than 20% per year despite, or perhaps because of, its size.

However, management promised to be profitable by 2024 based on adjusted EBITDA. The main difference between Exact Sciences and its competitors is that this promise was announced before the stock market started to wobble. Even if not, Wall Street will likely demand more efficient operations given the growing macroeconomic uncertainty.

For this reason, Exact Sciences is not expected to acquire Invitae anytime soon. An analysis of the financial details shows that this would jeopardize the increasingly strong position of the largest competitor.

  • Quality of Revenue : Exact Science generates more revenue each quarter than Visitor does in a year. However, the biggest competitor reports lower operating losses, with operating margins lower by 30% for Exact Sciences and 170% for Invitae. The purchase will lead to an immediate deterioration in the quality of earnings.
  • Money is everything: Exact Sciences will soon spend about $350 million on operating expenses in 2022, although about half of that amount was spent in the first quarter of the year. Invitae expects cash losses of at least $600 million in 2022 (less likely) and at least $225 million in 2023. The acquisition would double Exact Sciences' cash costs. In addition, the acquisition could cost close to a billion dollars, an amount that a larger competitor does not have. And the money could have been better spent elsewhere.
  • PreventionGenetics : Exact Sciences made an acquisition to venture into the early detection of inherited cancers. But she won a small company. PreventionGenetics was already profitable. It may only generate $41 million in revenue by 2022, but it can expand quickly within the business infrastructure of its new parent company. Acquiring Invitee would not fit well with the current profitable growth strategy in this new business category.

Don't invest in rumours

It's easy to get caught up in speculation and excitement when investing in growth stocks. Of course, it's fun to imagine what would happen if you made the right bet that a failed business could be restored to its former glory.

However, Invitee's new management has made it clear that growth expectations will be limited at least until 2024. Investors have no reason to expect more than the projections.

Invitae could still be a takeover target for a larger party, eventually. But investors shouldn't expect Exact Sciences to be a competitor anytime soon.

Exact Sciences is on the verge of profitability with its existing product portfolio and development portfolio. For example, an updated version of Cologuard could come out in 2024. If it meets expectations, adjusted Ebitda may not be the right metric to judge the company by.

The new Cologuard could help the company achieve positive operating margins and cash flows by 2025 or 2026.

Simply put, the acquisition of Invitee by Exact Sciences will reduce the quality of the company's earnings and make profitable operations impossible for the foreseeable future. No amount of positive thinking can change that.

AmericanJetBlue Antitrust Trial Testing Limits Of Industry Consolidation

AmericanJetBlue Antitrust Trial Testing Limits Of Industry Consolidation

American Airlines CEO Robert Isom told a federal judge on Monday that the airline is struggling with Delta Air Lines and other markets such as New York and Boston where major consolidation over the past two decades has decimated the industry.

Essam, who testified in a Justice Department antitrust suit against the partnership between American Airlines and JetBlue Airways, used that argument to defend against federal charges of conspiring to raise prices and reduce competition in the Northeast.

This is the chicken-and-egg argument that airlines have used for more than two decades to justify mergers.

"Delta has done a very good job of managing its network airlines, and I think they completed the merger more than Northwest probably five years ago, six years ago," Isom said. "Delta and Northwest have built the world's largest airlines, and through their networks and partnerships, they can offer customers more flights and destinations from economy to premium."

The Biden administration has opposed airline consolidation and used the American Airlines-JetBlue Northeast alliance for its first legal challenge of what the White House calls anti-consumer behavior. The case could have major implications for future mergers, including the upcoming marriage between Spirit Airlines and JetBlue.

Justice Department lawyers oppose the merger between the nation's first and sixth largest carriers, saying those same carriers need similar partnerships to compete with previous mergers.

Delta merged with Northwest Airlines in 2008. United in 2010 It merged with Continental Airlines in 2010 and Dallas-based Southwest acquired AirTran in 2011. American Airlines merged with US Airways in 2013.

Now the question is, "How much reinforcement is too big?" According to the Department of Transportation, the four largest airlines carry two-thirds of all U.S. passengers.

This case is particularly complex because it involves related routes and schedules at highly competitive airports such as New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Boston's LaGuardia and Logan International Airports. On Friday, United Airlines announced it would end service to JFK while it negotiates with the Federal Aviation Administration for additional seats.

American is ranked third at JFK behind Delta and JetBlue.

"American has a portfolio of destinations, mostly roundtrips, totaling 105 at JFK and 163 at LaGuardia," said Isom, who was American's president when the alliance was formed.

American had 50% fewer seats at LaGuardia, New York's airport that handles mainly domestic flights, he said.

"This puts us in a big bind and there's little you can do but use your resources to the best of your ability," Isom said.

US District Judge Leo Sorokin, who held a non-jury hearing in Boston on Monday, heard evidence from Isom and Scott Lawrence, a senior network planning executive at American Airlines who recently worked for JetBlue and Delta.

State attorneys pointed to Isom's Monday, March 29, 2020 email to American Airlines Network CEO Vasu Raja, saying industry capacity could shrink in the next 18 months.

Isom said the letter focused on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced airlines to cancel thousands of flights across the industry. American announced its alliance with JetBlue three months later, while the industry was still in turmoil.

"We're in the midst of the worst crisis I've ever seen in the aviation industry that threatens America's survival, and we're losing tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions, every day," Isom said. "We have $7 to $8 billion in cash on any given day, and the forecast is that we could run out of cash and go bankrupt in no time," he said.

Magic Aim To Start Building Sports + Entertainment District By Early 2023

Magic Aim To Start Building Sports + Entertainment District By Early 2023

For the Orlando Magic, the past month — and especially since training camp last week — has marked the grand opening of the team's new, state-of-the-art 130,000-square-foot Advent Health training facility.

As the Magic enter their new training facility, they focus on a major project that has been underway for almost a decade.

Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martins recently told the Orlando Sentinel that the company plans to break ground on the $500 million downtown sports and entertainment district by the end of March 2023.

He added that the project will be a "two-year construction process" and is expected to be "completed by 2025", although it is not certain when this will happen.

Sports + Recreation District Manager Pat Gallagher told GrowthSpotter in early September that the group will release more information about the project in the coming months.

"We're still on track and we believe we should definitely be on site and start construction by the end of the first quarter of next year," Martins said. "Our development partner is finalizing all the financing as we speak. They hope to get it this calendar year. Hopefully, if the market continues and it doesn't deteriorate too much, we can go by the end of the first quarter [of 2023].

The Sports + Recreation District will be an 8.4-acre mixed-service campus north of the Amway Center and north of the team's training facility, which will include orthopedic and sports medicine clinics operated by Advent Health.

The project will include a range of amenities including a hotel tower, restaurants, meeting and retail space, parking and 420,000 square feet of office space.

The team's business staff, which moved from their longtime offices at the RDV Sportsplex in Maitland last year and leased 23,000 square feet of space in the CNL Building II next to City Hall, will be relocated to their former offices. Enter the Sports+Entertainment circuit. . quarrel

The Magic brings yet-to-be-announced development partners to the Sports + Entertainment District.

"The pandemic has really forced us to change our development partners, so we've gone through that process over the last year," Martins said. “They are very excited and believe that the development and the components created will bear fruit.

“It's the same as what I said: hotels, offices, concert halls and sports and entertainment-related retail. The vision and the plan are mostly the same. We have a development partner who believes in this vision and can be very successful.
