Detalles del tráiler de la temporada 2 de House of the Dragon: Dragones, Rook's Rest y más

[ad_1]

Fancy Dance trailer heralds return of Oscar winner Lily Gladstone

[ad_1]

Academy Award winner Lily Gladstone will follow up Killers of the Flower Moon with a powerful new family drama on Apple TV+, if the trailer the streamer dropped Wednesday for Fancy Dance is any indication.

Fancy Dance premieres in select theaters June 21 and streams on Apple TV+ June 28.

Fancy Dance trailer brings emotional dramatic role for Oscar winner Lily Gladstone

Apple Original Films release Fancy Dance became a Sundance Film Festival selection. And it’s the second movie on Apple TV+ to star Lily Gladstone. She won a Best Actress Oscar for Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. And the new drama represents the directorial debut of Erica Tremblay, who also co-wrote and produced the film.

Gladstone plays Jax, who cares for her niece Roki (Isabel Deroy-Olson) after the girl’s mother, Jax’s sister, goes missing from an Oklahoma Indian reservation. The trailer brings tense drama. It shows the search for the missing woman unfold in a chaotic and challenging environment. For one thing, Jax and Roki must prepare for a powwow. Most likely, that’s where the film’s title comes from.

Here’s how Apple describes the plot, the film’s complex societal shading and its cast:

Since her sister’s disappearance, Jax has cared for her niece Roki by scraping by on the Seneca-Cayuga reservation in Oklahoma. Every spare minute goes into finding her missing sister while also helping Roki prepare for an upcoming powwow. At the risk of Jax losing custody to Roki’s grandfather, Frank (Shea Whigham), the pair hit the road and scour the backcountry to track down Roki’s mother in time for the powwow.

What begins as a search gradually turns into a far deeper investigation into the complexities and contradictions of Indigenous women moving through a colonized world while at the mercy of a failed justice system. Gladstone stars alongside Deroy-Olson, Ryan Begay, Crystle Lightning, with Audrey Wasilewski and Whigham.

Produced by Confluential Films and Significant Productions/AUM Group, Fancy Dance introduces director Tremblay. She also serves as screenwriter alongside Miciana Alise. Producers include Deidre Backs, Tremblay, Heather Rae, Nina Yang Bongiovi and Tommy Oliver. Executive producers are Bird Runningwater, Gladstone, Forest Whitaker and Charlotte Koh.

The Boys season 4 trailer reveals ties to Gen V and a battle for America’s soul ahead of hit Amazon show’s return

[ad_1]

Amazon has unveiled a new trailer for The Boys season 4 – and, I don’t know about you, but I didn’t have superpowered, violent farm animals on my bingo card for the show’s next installment.

Revealed yesterday (May 3) during The Boys season 4 panel at Mexico Comic-Con – and released online immediately after its world premiere – the series’ latest trailer teases another blood-soaked entry on Prime Video. Not only that, though, it also confirms that key storylines from companion show Gen V will carry over into the main series. Oh, and that all-out war between the titular vigilantes and the Seven, the most-famous superhero team in The Boys universe, is about to erupt. And yes, those are Compound V-injected, Supe-d up farm animals – including an Alien-like, chest bursting flock of chickens and a group of flying sheep.

Apple TV Plus’ Presumed Innocent trailer sees Jake Gyllenhaal in a tense courtroom thriller

[ad_1]

Harrison Ford’s footsteps are hard to fill, but Jake Gyllenhaal clearly isn’t afraid to give it a go: he’s the star and executive producer of Apple TV Plus‘ upcoming series Presumed Innocent, a remake of the Ford-starring 1990 courtroom drama based on the Scott Turow bestseller of the same name.

This time around it’s an eight-part series rather than a two-hour movie, and the star-studded cast includes Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, O-T Fagbenle, Chase Infiniti, Nana Mensah, Renate Reinsve, Peter Sarsgaard, Kingston Rumi Southwick and Elizabeth Marvel.

Presumed Innocent trailer puts the screws to Jake Gyllenhaal

[ad_1]

Jake Gyllenhaal is a lawyer in love in the teaser trailer for thriller series Presumed Innocent — and it looks like he might just be a murderer, too. Apple TV+ dropped the arresting trailer Wednesday.

Gyllenhaal stars in the eight-episode limited series from David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams, which debuts June 12 on Apple TV+.

Jake Gyllenhaal looks guilty as hell in gripping Presumed Innocent trailer on Apple TV+

“Love isn’t what people tell you that it is,” Gyllenhaal’s character Rusty Sabich says, ominously, as the trailer opens. “In my experience, it’s just something that grows. Until, one day, you just find yourself just needing someone. That’s how it was with Carolyn. She woke something up inside me.”

But what she woke up inside him might not have been all that loving, judging by the moody, minute-long trailer. It shows Rusty and Carolyn (Renate Reinsve) falling in love until something unspeakable — and unshown — happens. And Sabich, a prosecutor who is married to someone else in the film’s current day, ends up in uncomfortable conversations with cops.

The story, based on a legal-thriller novel by Scott Turow, saw a film version made in 1990 starring Harrison Ford as Sabich.

Here’s how Apple TV+ describes the upcoming show:

Based on The New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow, the gripping series takes viewers on a journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich (Gyllenhaal) is suspected of the crime. The series explores obsession, sex, politics and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.

In addition to Gyllenhaal and Reinsve, the series stars Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, O-T Fagbenle, Chase Infiniti, Elizabeth Marvel, Nana Mensah, Peter Sarsgaard and Kingston Rumi Southwick.

Gyllenhaal also serves as executive producer, along with multi-Emmy Award winners David E. Kelley (showrunner) and J.J. Abrams, plus Turow, Matthew Tinker, Dustin Thomason, Sharr White and Miki Johnson. And another one is Anne Sewitsky, who directs the first two episodes and episode eight. Emmy Award winner Greg Yaitanes executive produces and directs episodes three through seven, Apple TV+ said.

Paramount Plus’ Mayor of Kingstown season 3 trailer sees Jeremy Renner’s crime boss comeback

[ad_1]

Mayor of Kingstown, the explosive crime drama set in a city that sometimes resembles Hell on Earth, is one of the most brutal shows on TV – and judging by the newly released trailer for season three on Paramount Plus, it hasn’t suddenly become Paradise. The trailer is action-packed and enormously exciting – and it’s also nice to see Jeremy Renner looking good so soon after a real-life horrific snowmobile accident that left him fighting for his life.

If you’re not already familiar with the show, it features Renner as Michigan crime boss Mike McLusky – and in season three he’s up against a new face of the Russian mob who’s set up shop in the city while a drug war rages inside and outside the city’s prison walls. In this season, McLusky is under incredible pressure to end that war, but things get complicated when a familiar face from his prison past appears and threatens all his efforts to stop the city from exploding.

Hollywood Con Queen trailer tells lurid scam’s tale

[ad_1]

A juicy and lurid new documentary crime series is coming to Apple TV+ soon with Hollywood Con Queen, judging by the fast-paced trailer the streamer dropped for it Thursday. It “explores the shocking story behind one of Hollywood’s biggest scams.”

The three-part docuseries premieres May 8 on Apple TV+.

Hollywood Con Queen trailer documents one of Hollywood’s weirdest scams

“Do I deserve to be locked up for life?” asks a female voiceover at the start of the Hollywood Con Queen trailer. “That’s not fair. Because I may just be the nicest criminal you’d ever know.”

But after seeing the rest of the trailer, “nice” is not a word that seems right to describe the mysterious scammer. Impersonating powerful industry women, they lured hundreds of Hollywood creatives thousands of miles from home. There the dupes found themselves stipped of money and much more. It seemed the scammer wanted to assume power over people and destroy their lives, almost like a cult leader.

Here’s how Apple TV+ describes the documentary series:

A mysterious figure dubbed the ‘Con Queen’ impersonates the industry’s most powerful women, luring unsuspecting victims to Indonesia with the promise of a life-changing career opportunity. The ‘Con Queen’s’ marks exhaust their personal finances in pursuit of a big break, while being exploited in a perverse psychological game spanning the globe.

The scam eventually draws the attention of veteran investigative journalist Scott Johnson of The Hollywood Reporter, and dedicated private investigator Nicole Kotsianas, who set out to find the truth only to discover a story more strange than they could have imagined.

The trailer features the hallmarks of a lurid crime documentary that might just be gripping rather than cheesy. It leaves you with the right questions. Who on earth is the scammer(s)? How could people let this happen? Is justice being done? And along the way, you can spot mainstream coverage of the tale as it happened, like All Things Considered host Mary Louise Kelly‘s voice from an NPR story on it.

Hollywood Con Queen comes from Emmy winner Chris Smith and Library Films. That team also created Tiger King, 100 Foot Wave, Fyre, Bad Vegan, Operation Varsity Blues and more.

Trailer for The Big Cigar shows Black Panther FBI fakeout

[ad_1]

Apple TV+ dropped the first trailer for The Big Cigar Wednesday. And it looks like so much fun I almost don’t want to know how true the “incredible true story” actually is.

The upcoming drama series tells the tale of Black Panther leader Huey P. Newton enlisting a Hollywood producer to fake out the FBI, providing cover for Newton’s escape to Cuba in 1974. That came after he jumped bail on murder and assault charges he called false.

The six-part series debuts May 17 with two episodes, followed by a new one each Friday through June 14, Apple TV+ said.

The Big Cigar trailer plays up wild Black Panther-FBI fakeout with Hollywood’s help

The six-episode drama The Big Cigar “tells the incredible true story of Newton’s escape to Cuba,” Apple TV said. André Holland stars as Newton. And before we go any further, “The Big Cigar” is the title of the fake movie production that aided Newton’s escape.

I say I don’t want to know how true to history the movie is for good reason. I’ve gotten into the habit lately of reading source material for Apple TV+ movies and shows. And sometimes that comes back to bite me.

An example would be when I read the book behind the Manhunt series about the chase for Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth. The way the show (understandably) tried to make the storytelling more visual by having august and asthmatic Secretary of War Edwin Stanton (Tobias Menzies) chase down perps and interrogate people all over the place drove me nuts. In reality, he ran the manhunt’s frantic operations from a telegraph room.

The Big Cigar‘s big story

Notably, The Big Cigar limited series is executive produced by NAACP Image Award winner Janine Sherman Barrois, Jim Hecht and Joshuah Bearman. And perhaps even more notably, multi-award winning actor/director/producer Don Cheadle directs and executive produces the first two episodes.

And whether or not it’s because of Cheadle’s influence, the series trailer feels like it’s for an Ocean’s Eleven-style caper movie. He played cockney-accented munitions expert Basher Tarr in that film.

Here’s the streamer’s description of the The Big Cigar:

Based on the magazine article of the same name by Joshuah Bearman (Argo), who also serves as executive producer, The Big Cigar tells the incredible true story of Hollywood revolution meeting social revolution. It’s a wild caper about Black Panther founder Huey P. Newton escaping from the FBI to Cuba with the assistance of famed producer Bert Schneider in an impossibly elaborate plan — involving a fake movie production — that goes wrong every way it possibly can.

Will the series pull off the caper, or will it turn out to be a silly mess? Hard to say just from the trailer for The Big Cigar.

The Bearman article appeared in Playboy in December 2012, but does not appear to be available online without subscription. Holland stars alongside Alessandro Nivola, Tiffany Boone, P. J. Byrne, Marc Menchaca, Moses Ingram, Rebecca Dalton, Olli Haaskivi, Jordane Christie and Glynn Turman.

And by the way, this 1977 Washington Post article about Newton’s return from Cuba to face charges is a pretty nifty time capsule.

Watch The Big Cigar trailer

Sherman Barrois (Claws, Self Made) serves as showrunner for The Big Cigar. Executive producer Hecht (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty) wrote the first episode. The series comes from Warner Bros. Television. Other executive producers are Bearman, Joshua Davis and Arthur Spector (Little America) through Epic.

The six-part series The Big Cigar debuts May 17 on Apple TV+ with two episodes, followed by a new one each Friday through June 14. With many dramas on offer, the service is available by subscription for $9.99 with a seven-day free trial. You can also get it via any tier of the Apple One subscription bundle. Netflix’s official Atlas trailer puts Jennifer Lopez in another generic Terminator clone, but with Titanfall-like mechs

[ad_1]

When we watched the teaser trailer for Jennifer Lopez’s new sci-fi movie Atlas, we said that it looked like a cross between Terminator and The Creator with Neon Genesis Evangelion-like mechs thrown in for good measure. And now that a longer trailer has dropped, we’re thinking much the same.

The new Netflix movie looks very entertaining, with lots of big robot suits (similar to the powered exoskeletons you see in films like Edge of Tomorrow) and explosions – always a good thing unless you’re watching a period drama. It also has a “can we trust AI?” plot, which is very timely.
