Netflix’s first trailer for its new series Supacell paints South London as an epicentre of supernatural activity, with a comic book flair that’s charged with superhero action. The new show will land on the platform this June – and it already looks like a strong contender for our list of best Netflix series.
Supacell comes from the mind of Rapman, a British record producer and film director, and will be his first full-length series off the back of his feature film Blue Story from 2019 – both of which are explicit in their faithful homages to South London living. But with Supacell, people with supernatural powers roam the streets freely.
What to expect from Supacell
The trailer (see above) does a clever job of letting us glimpse into the events of the series without giving away too much information, and has us on the edge of our seats for its June release. In it, we are introduced to main characters Michael (Tosin Cole) and Dionne (Adelayo Adedayo), who have an Instagram-perfect relationship with a nice home, fancy car, and a happy engagement to show for it. However, as it is with any drama series, there’s more than meets the eye.
In a way that seems to allude to the classic British show Misfits, Michael unexpectedly develops super powers and is given the ability to travel to the future where he learns that Dionne’s death is fast approaching. To save her, he must bring together others who have also mysteriously developed the same powers, but the question remains; what is it that connects these people?
It’s safe to say that Supacell is going to be one superhero spectacle, but its raw depiction of South London culture could be the reason it becomes a roaring success. Prior to Supacell, Rapman had dabbled in short films prior to his first full length feature Blue Story (2019), which hones in on postcode-based gang rivalry in South London. It proved to be successful with viewers, gaining a score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, which could serve as a hint that Supacell’s ode to its director’s hometown will be its success factor.
Due to the recent successes of South London-based films like Rye Lane, it’s clear that audiences enjoy relatable viewing, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Supacell gains status as a modern British television classic. And since the series is carried by an ensemble cast of actors that are less-known, it eliminates high expectations and will encourage viewers to take it for face value.

Oh, Walmart, you have no idea what you’ve unleashed. A $699 MacBook Air with the M1 chip is the Big Mac to the Hamburglar, cookies to Cookie Monster, Bonnie to Clyde. It’s the antidote to MacBook Air lust without the deep-pocket investment and a game-over challenge to any affordable Wintel system Walmart has on its shelves
The Apple MacBook Air with M1 was an astonishing breakthrough. That’s how I described the first application of Apple Silicon on a Mac in 2020.
There was nothing exceptional about the design – it was the same as the last MacBook Air running an Intel CPU – but that ARM-based “brain transplant” produced a product with a new, winning, whip-smart, and ultra-efficient personality and I was smitten. No wonder I was sad when Apple discontinued the M1 MacBook Air in favor of the newest MacBook Air 13-inch running M3, AKA the best laptop you can buy. There’s still a cheaper $999 MacBook Air M2 but it features the flat slab design that supplanted the classic MacBook Air wedge.
I’ve grown to like that flat and arguably less stylish look, but I’ll always miss the original MacBook Air’s iconic and curvier design. There has never been a thinner laptop – at least when looked at from the front edge (0.16-inch) – or one that felt better in the hand. I even miss the visible speaker grilles on either side of the Magic Keyboard. Granted the ultraportable had just two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports (one per side!), no dedicated MagSafe charge port (that was an important upgrade from the M2 redesign), and the screen is a little smaller and not the excellent Liquid Retina Display upgrade we got with the MacBook Air M2. Still, show me a classic MacBook Air and I will break into a wistful smile.
I assumed that after Apple discontinued the model, supplies would quickly dry up at other retailers where the system sold for as little as $749. I guess I was wrong.
It’s not just that $699 is an excellent price, it’s where you can buy the MacBook Air M1. “This is the first time customers can purchase a Mac directly from Walmart,” noted the company in a release. That’s right, the same place where you can pick up a 55-inch 4k TV for under $300 and an entire non-stick cookware set for under $70, you can now buy one of the best laptops ever.
I get that this MacBook Air is now three generations old and may look out of date, but the truth is its 3.5 GHz system, ability to run virtually all Intel-supported apps, handle almost any task you throw at it (including editing multiple 4K video streams at once), 15-hour battery life (20 hours if you only watch video), and 2.8 lb weight make this a formidable competitor for laptops costing at least twice as much. Even with just 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, it poses a real threat to any sub-$700 Intel-running Windows PC Walmart has to offer. If you never thought you could afford to make the switch from Windows to Mac, this might be your chance.
This deal changes the calculation of my laptop buying advice. If you’re shopping for the perfect portable work, school, or life laptop, this is the system to buy.
There is the question, naturally, of how long supplies will last. If you visit the Walmart website right now, this $699 MacBook Air M1 is the first thing you see. Apple’s not making any more so, it might be a short-lived opportunity.
On the other hand, this is a watershed moment for Walmart and its customers. The company said it was the first time it would sell Macs directly, but it didn’t say it was the last. I’m thinking that if you see a MacBook Air you really want – maybe the M2 or even the new and powerful M3 – you might want to wait and see when it arrives on Walmart’s ever-eclectic shelves.
Scotland could secure their first Triple Crown in 34 years at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, an achievement that under normal circumstances would be monumental. But it could have been so much more. This should have been the 2024 Six Nations decider, but instead many Scots are hoping it marks the end of Gregor Townsend’s tenure.
While they had every right to be incensed at the refereeing decision that robbed them of victory against France, Scotland could have no complaints about last weekend’s shock defeat to Italy, who last won a home Six Nations game 11 years ago.
It all-but killed Scotland’s title hopes a week too early, and to compound the pain of throwing away a 12-point lead, Ireland subsequently lost to England. If Scotland had just held their nerve, this game would have been a straight shootout for the Six Nations trophy.
Instead, the championship is Ireland’s to lose. The reigning champions would have to leave the Aviva Stadium empty-handed and – barring implausible margins of victory for Scotland or France – England would have to beat Les Bleus with a bonus point in the late game for that to transpire.
The Ireland vs Scotland kickoff is at 4.45pm GMT / 12.45pm ET / 9.45am PT on Saturday, March 16. In Australia, that’s 3.45am AEDT on Sunday, March 17.
Ireland vs Scotland venue
Saturday’s game will be played at Dublin’s 51,711-seater Aviva Stadium – still known by its predecessor’s name Lansdowne Road by many fans – with its famously low North Stand.
Against all expectations, England could be playing for the 2024 Six Nations title in the championship finale at Parc OL on Saturday night. The visitors’ odds of winning are vanishingly short, though it’s a far cry from 12 months ago, when Les Bleus condemned them to their heaviest ever home defeat.
France were in dire straits before Fabien Galthie decided enough was enough and benched scrum-half Maxime Lucu for Nolann Le Garrec last weekend. France responded with their first positive display of the championship, and Le Garrec played an instrumental role.
In addition to scoring the try that put them in the driving seat against Wales, he stole the show with that outrageous – dare we say it, Dupont-esque – chistera and restored the feel-good factor. Is that something to build on?
Marcus Smith’s last-gasp drop-goal clinched a thoroughly deserved victory over reigning champions and tournament favourites Ireland in thrilling fashion, and gave England an outside chance of winning the trophy. For that to transpire, they’ll need a bonus-point victory over France, combined with a pointless defeat for Ireland against Scotland in the earlier game.
It’s unlikely, but stranger things have happened and regardless of how Super Saturday plays out, Le Crunch should deliver a fitting finale.
The France vs England kickoff is at 8pm GMT / 4pm ET / 1pm PT on Saturday, March 16. In Australia, that’s 7am AEDT on Sunday, March 17.
France vs England venue
Saturday’s game will be played at the 59,186-capacity Parc Olympique Lyonnais on the outskirts of Lyon. Also known as Parc OL but never Groupama Stadium, it’s home to Olympique Lyonnais, a football team with one of the most boisterous fanbases in Ligue 1.

In today’s digital-first environment children are being routinely exposed to harmful, age-restricted and even illegal content online. The continued proliferation of smart devices and easy, anywhere access to user-generated content (UGC) through social media and chat platforms is only exacerbating the issue.
At the tap of a button, individuals can now be exposed to more adult, extreme and illegal content than ever before. And in the UK it has been revealed that children themselves are now the biggest perpetrators of sexual abuse against children (52%).
The UK’s National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) has directly correlated this trend with the ease of access young people have to the internet via smartphones. While the IWF has revealed that the development of new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) will only exacerbate the creation, distribution and ease of access to illegal content such as Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) further.
Safer Internet Day brings together thousands of young people, parents and organizations each year to raise awareness of how children can stay safe online. It provides an opportunity to bring the conversation and enforcement of safer practices to the mainstream, helping to protect children from inappropriate or illegal content and visiting the dark web.
This year it must also become a springboard for businesses to enhance their online age assurance and content moderation to ensure they are doing their utmost to protect the young and vulnerable.
Michal Karnibad
Ease of Access in an online world
While the internet’s easy accessibility has brought numerous benefits, the truth is that as a result of its rapid, and often unregulated development, children now have unprecedented access to age restricted and illegal online content.
This is naturally a leading concern for parents, with research from Ofcom revealing that 75% worry about their children seeing inappropriate content when online. 73% specified this as adult or sexual content.
Not only is the viewing of this content a horrific occurrence in itself, but it also leads to a detrimental impact on children’s longer-term wellbeing and mental health, as well as warping young people’s views on sex and appropriate behavior.
Many popular social media sites permit users to create accounts from just 13 years of age, despite the fact that age-restricted and illegal content can be accessed and shared. This, paired with the camera and video capabilities of modern smart devices, makes it all too easy for users to produce, upload and view inappropriate content quickly.
The digital world therefore needs to catch up with the offline world, where viewing an individual’s documentation and physical appearance is the norm, making it far easier and practical for authorities to restrict them from accessing age-restricted products and content.
Age assurance and content moderation
To overcome these challenges, organizations must rapidly deploy and enhance their age assurance and content moderation infrastructure. The advent of technologies such as AI has made it far easier and practical than ever before to identify and stamp out illegal content online at scale, accurately and at a low cost.
With regulatory guidance on online safety measures still forthcoming, organizations have historically had little business incentive to implement these technologies. But the wellbeing of our young people is at stake. Rather than pointing fingers now is the time to implement pragmatic solutions to solve the issue of how we best protect children online. Businesses should be engaging and partnering with subject matter experts in this area, including the regulators and safety tech providers. This way we can build an ecosystem of effective solutions that when implemented truly provide protection to young people when they go online.
With a plethora of age assurance solutions such as email address age estimation now out there, businesses have the tools at their disposal to verify the age of customers with minimal friction. At the same time, content moderation tools now enable the analysis of uploaded or live-streamed content in real-time, before it is published, providing instant solutions that flag or remove illegal material.
Furthermore the implementation of proactive solutions such as uploader and participant verification facilitate consent and reduce the risk of revenge porn, intimate image abuse, exploitation, slavery and sex trafficking.
Safety and privacy
Despite these available tools, work still needs to be done to protect children online and remove illegal content from sites. This challenge is often exacerbated by the ongoing safety and privacy debate, where technology companies and social media firms state the importance of encryption in keeping user data safe. The problem with encryption, however, is that it can be abused by bad actors to distribute and circulate age-restricted or illegal content online.
This is a debate which will only grow in prominence over the next few months, especially now that the UK’s Online Safety Act has come into law. Fortunately, as new privacy preserving authentication tools emerge, such as email address, organizations will be able to mitigate this concern. This is something which was specifically called out in recent guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the body that regulates both privacy (GDPR in the UK) and online content.
It’s only logical therefore that while the regulators push out these new robust laws, and social media and technology firms adapt to the changes, businesses become responsible for their own actions. This means taking the lead on implementing age assurance and content moderation tools that drive meaningful change across their industries. Safer Internet Day provides the perfect opportunity to start doing this.

Technology manufacturer Lenovo has announced that the Lenovo Legion Tab Android gaming tablet is going to be available in select markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) in addition to Asia from March 2024.
The tablet, which was previously only available in China, is intended to bridge “the gap between PC and mobile gaming, offering a solution for gamers seeking a high-performance gaming experience that is both accessible and convenient,” according to a recent press release.
It boasts a high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile GPU, 12GB of DDR5 memory, and 256GB of onboard storage – which can be further expanded by up to 1TB with the addition of a compatible microSD card. Despite the strong specs, the tablet still weighs an impressively light 12oz / 350g and comes in at just 0.3in / 7.6mm thick with an 8.8in 144Hz QHD+ display.
It also has a 6650 mAh battery, that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology via its bottom USB Type-C port. This port features DisplayPort 1.4 support too, meaning that the tablet can be connected to a compatible monitor or TV for a big-screen gaming experience.
Another major feature of the Lenovo Legion Tab is the Legion ColdFront Vapor thermal solution, which Lenovo says will leverage an “oversized vapor chamber” for improved cooling performance while you play.
You will also have a degree of control over the tablet’s overall performance, with three distinct profiles available: the Beast Mode, which aims to maximize frame rate above all else; the more well-rounded Balanced Mode; and the lower intensity Energy Saving mode which prioritizes battery life.
With the massive popularity of mobile gaming titles like Genshin Impact and Call of Duty: Mobile, the Lenovo Legion Tab looks like a compelling package on the whole. Although there is no sign of an official US release quite yet, it will likely cost around $650 if the confirmed European price of €599 is anything to go by.
Your Galaxy A53 might be starting to look like a classic in this multitude of highly-optimized Samsung phones with a similar design, which could work in its favor if you intend to use it until Samsung stops supporting it roughly two-to-three years from now.
But if you don’t intend to squeeze everything out of the Galaxy A53 for two more generations of Android OS updates, now might be a good time to consider a phone upgrade before you can say goodbye to any chance of a decent trade-in deal on your aging phone.
Samsung has just announced the Galaxy A55 today, and although you might not want to hear this, the truth is that the A55 is vastly superior to the A53, even more so than the Galaxy A54 was last year.
Samsung upgraded the Galaxy A55 inside-out, and the phone brings a few new goodies never-before-seen in the Galaxy A5x series.
The Galaxy A55 sets new build quality standards
Starting from the outside in, the Galaxy A55 looks more modern than the Galaxy A53, as it adopts Samsung’s new design formula based on flat surfaces and no unnecessary camera housings. But assuming that doesn’t make a difference to you, the build quality might.
As you’re likely aware, your Galaxy A35 has a plastic frame, which serves it fine but doesn’t provide that much protection or inspire much confidence. Well, the Galaxy A55 changes that, as it is Samsung’s first Galaxy A5x phone to boast a metal frame.
The Galaxy A55 elevates the build quality even further, as it adopts Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and the back.
Your Galaxy A53 has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display protection and a plastic back, but with its new upgraded build, the Galaxy A55 blurs the line between mid-range and premium phones like no other A5x before it.
You can ditch the Galaxy A53 if you want more power and better connectivity
Even if the improved build quality isn’t enough to make you want to ditch the Galaxy A53 in favor of the Galaxy A55, the latest hardware improvements might. They affect the display, performance, and even cameras.
The Galaxy A55 has a brighter screen (1,000 nits) than your Galaxy A53 (800 nits) and uses Vision Booster technology, which makes it easier to read and more color-accurate, even in direct sunlight.
Samsung’s new mid-range phone also boasts a minimum of 8GB of RAM, whereas you could be using a 4GB Galaxy A53. And, there’s more. In some markets, the Galaxy A55 is available with a whopping 12GB of RAM, which should fix any and all multitasking issues. Remember that not even the base Galaxy S24 flagship variant offers 12GB, which makes the Galaxy A55 that much more interesting.
As far as raw performance goes, the Galaxy A55 has a new Exynos 1480 chip, manufactured on a 4nm process. It’s the first mid-range Samsung SoC to boast an AMD RDNA-based graphics chip. Combined with 8GB or 12GB of RAM, this silicon might do enough to elevate the mid-range Galaxy Ax experience to a level where UI performance issues are a thing of the past.
And if you care about mobile photography, the Galaxy A55 should offer better performance and improved nightography. It can even record Super HDR videos in low light and offers OIS and VIDS when capturing 4K videos.
The Galaxy A53 might have more megapixels and one extra (depth) camera, but in practice, the Galaxy A55 should be visibly superior thanks to newer technologies and better image processing.
Last but not least, if you do upgrade to the Galaxy A55 and leave your Galaxy A53 behind, you’ll benefit from faster Wi-Fi 6 connectivity (up from Wi-Fi 5) and Bluetooth 5.3, which is more energy-efficient and plain better than Bluetooth 5.1 (it can even deliver better sound quality).
All things considered, the Galaxy A53 may have served you well for the past two years, and it still has two more major Android OS upgrades planned. Nevertheless, the Galaxy A55 might turn out to be the upgrade you never knew you needed or wanted.
While I know first-hand how awesome the digital world of technology is – if I didn’t love it then I’d be in the wrong profession – I’m also the first to admit it can all get a little overwhelming.
Back in January, I offered my personal board game recommendations to help you fend off the New Year blues without turning on a screen, and this month I want to do the same for three trading card games (TCGs) that I love – and that don’t require any tech for you to enjoy them.
More importantly, they’ve all just had new releases on March 8. So if you’re reading this when it gets published, your friendly local game store might be running events where you can check these games out in a beginner-friendly environment.
Card games are my go-to way to get away from tech, and I’ve found that they’ve been a really useful tool for meeting new people so I can combat the rise in loneliness brought about in the post-pandemic era we find ourselves in. I hope they can help you too.
So, with that all in mind, here are my low-fi, low-tech recommendations for March 2023.
Magic The Gathering x Fallout
Rather than gaming on a PS5 or one of the best gaming laptops, why not bring the game to the kitchen table with one of the new Fallout Commander Decks for Magic The Gathering. Of the three TCGs on this list, Magic is by far my favorite, and Commander is one of the best ways to play the game.
Ideally played with four players (though games with more or fewer players are allowed), each person has a 100-card deck – one stack of 99 and a 100th ‘Commander’ that sits separately from the rest and can be cast at any time during your turn. By playing a mixture of lands and spells, your goal is to bring your opponent’s life totals from 40 to zero (you can also win if their deck runs out of cards or you achieve a special win condition based on the cards you play) before you’re eliminated.
(Image credit: Shutterstock / Ivan Krivenko)
Because of its multiplayer format, I find Commander is more casual and a lot more social than other card games. It’s easier to chat during matches, and sometimes you’ll need to work together with other players rather than against them to stop whoever is ahead from stomping you both.
What makes these Fallout decks special is that they feature exclusive new game pieces and reprints of iconic cards from the game’s 30-year-long history that show characters, themes, and items from the Fallout video game series – which is soon to be a TV show on Prime Video.
There are four to choose from: ‘Scrappy Survivors’ headed up by Fallout 4’s loyal canine companion Dogmeat, ‘Hail Caeser’ for all of you who love to play the villain, ‘Science!’ if you’re fascinated by Fallout’s Nuclear science, or ‘Mutant Menace’ if you’re interested in irradiated monsters and hazards that have been left in wake of the ‘Great War.’
If you’ve never played Magic before, picking up one of these decks is an excellent place to start. Not only does it take all the hassle out of designing your deck – a challenge for newer players – but while I’ve yet to use one of these specific decks myself, I’ve seen plenty of preconstructed Commander decks like these win games straight out of the box.
You can also bling out your new deck with exclusive-Fallout Collector Boosters which offer exclusive reprints and artwork not found in the decks. Though the disadvantage is you don’t know what you’re getting, and one pack can be pricey – so you might be better off buying the exact card you want from your local game store or online (I use eBay and Cardmarket).
Lorcana: Into the Inklands
If you prefer Disney to Fallout or are a little newer to TCGs and frightened by the complexity of the game, then you might want to try Lorcana instead – a game that brings the best Disney films to life in cardboard form.
The game shares a lot of similarities with Magic, chiefly that you have a resource – Ink in your Inkwell – that you use to summon iconic Disney characters, play items, and use special powers. But it has several advantages that I think make it way more approachable for people who aren’t super familiar with card games – while still being a blast for veterans like myself.
The first is that the new Into the Inklands set is only the game’s third expansion. While it does add an exciting new card type – Locations that your characters can visit, and that offer benefits for as long as you have them in play – the card pool is still very easy to wrap your head around.
Also, the recognizability of the Disney characters puts their abilities into context.
The Titans in Hercules are all about destroying Greece and Olympus, so it makes sense that they like to mess with Locations in Lorcana; there are famously 99 Dalmatian puppies (with mum and dad Perdita and Pongo making 101) so it makes sense that you can have 99 of them in your deck instead of the usual limit of four; and the Mousketeers are all about protecting Princess Minnie in the film, so, of course, they’d be Bodyguards who protect your other characters.
Lastly, Lorcana has simplified a few rules you might know from Magic. Rather than special cards you use for Ink, you can play most cards face down in your Inkwell to build up your resources – making deckbuilding way simpler. Plus, opponents can’t play cards on your turn, so you generally only have to worry about what’s on the table in front of you, especially hidden info that can disrupt your strategy for each turn.
If you’re looking to try the game out, a draft or sealed event at your local game store is an excellent way to start. Everyone only plays with the cards they open at the event so you don’t have to fret about someone stomping you with a deck they’ve dropped hundreds on.
Alternatively, a couple of starter decks can be a fun way to learn with a friend. They aren’t the most competitive, but they are well-balanced against each other and show off most of the core mechanics.
Star Wars: Unlimited
Lastly, if you feel three set releases are still too many then why not try Star Wars Unlimited? It has just launched its first-ever set. So if you go and play you’ll be just as much of a noob as anyone else there.
This also means this is the game I’m least familiar with – I’ve only played it once or twice – but so far it seems to be a blast.
It combines a few ideas already seen in this list – the familiarity of characters and locations, cards as your resource (here called Resources), and the Commander (here called a Leader, who’s paired with a Base of your choice) from Magic The Gathering. But there’s also a lot of freedom that satisfies the Unlimited name.

If Luke Skywalker is your Leader, you’re incentivized to play Heroism and Vigilance cards – aspects that fit his on-screen personality. But if you want to throw the odd Villainy or Aggression card in, you can embrace the Dark Side – albeit at a cost of more resources.
Because it’s so new, your local store will likely be running lots of beginner-friendly events. I’ve found store staff are generally very happy to help TCG newcomers get to grips with any of the options on this list (as well as others like Pokemon, Flesh and Blood, and One Piece), and they should be especially ready to aid you and others with this completely new release.
There’s also a Starter Kit on sale that comes with two decks and a bunch of handy cardboard and paper accessories so you and a friend can get up to speed on the new Star Wars Unlimited experience in your own time.
Lights, camera, confusion? A change to the 2024 Oscars start time has threatened to upstage the stars themselves at the 96th Academy Awards this weekend. In a move intended to boost viewing figures, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has broken with tradition and shifted the ceremony to 7pm ET, though Sunday also happens to be the day the clocks change in the US.
It’s good news for most viewers, especially those based east of the west coast, because it means the jewel in the crown, the best picture award, will be presented significantly earlier than usual. Read on so you don’t miss the battle between Oppenheimer, American Fiction, The Holdovers and The Zone of Interest.
When are the Oscars?
The 2024 Oscars are on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
What time does the Oscars start?
The 2024 Oscars ceremony starts one hour earlier than usual, at 7pm ET / 4pm PT / 11pm GMT – 10am AEDT on Monday morning for Australians film fans.
Why is the Oscars time earlier this year?
The Oscars organisers haven’t done the best job of putting word of the early start out there, especially as Sunday, March 10 also happens to be the first day of daylight saving time in the US, but they’re hoping for it to boost viewing figures.
Past ceremonies have regularly topped 3 hours, so in its previous slot the biggest award of the night – Best Picture, which is always saved for last – has tended to be announced well after most viewers had gone to bed.
When does the Oscars start where I live?
Watching worldwide? Here are the Oscars start times around the world:
4pm PDT – Pacific Standard Time

The 2024 Oscars pre-show will begin half-an-hour ahead of the ceremony, at 6.30pm ET / 3.30pm PT / 10.30pm GMT, which is 9.30am AEDT on Monday.
When is the Oscars Red Carpet?
The Oscars Red Carpet is the same as the pre-show. Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough will hosts the 30-minute segment from 6.30pm ET / 3.30pm PT / 10.30pm GMT, which for viewers in Australia is 9.30am AEDT on Monday morning.
What time does the Oscars finish?
The Oscars are scheduled to finish at 10.30pm ET / 7.30pm PT on Sunday night, which is 2.30am GMT in the early hours of Monday morning for viewers in the UK, and 1.30pm AEDT on Monday afternoon in Australia.
When are the Oscars winners announced?
The 2024 Oscars running order of awards hasn’t been revealed at the time of writing, but if it follows the same pattern as last year’s ceremony, we’d expect it to go as follows:
Two years ago, Wales were defending champions and France were on their way to the Grand Slam. Now they’re both just hoping to avoid the wooden spoon. To their credit, Warren Gatland’s young side has shown flashes, which is more than can be said for Les Bleus, who entered the 2024 Six Nations as favourites but are lucky to have any points on the board at all.
Questionable refereeing decisions gifted France a victory over Scotland and a draw against Italy, when both games should have ended in defeat. Poor discipline and the absence of star scrum-half Antoine Dupont have hurt them, but such has been the scale and speed of the decline that head coach Fabien Galthié’s job has come under scrutiny – something that was unthinkable even a month ago.
By contrast, even though Wales have just a single point to show from their three games, fans can see that Gatland is building something. They nearly pulled off a comeback for the ages against Scotland and came within minutes of a first win at Twickenham since 2012. The 31-7 defeat to Grand Slam-chasing Ireland last time out was nothing to be too ashamed of.
In their final home game of the tournament, though, Wales will want to repay their fans for their loyal support and give them a taster of what lies ahead. This France team is there for the taking.
