A good Samaritan was killed while assisting a collision victim in Arizona.

Sunday, authorities reported that a good Samaritan who stopped to assist an accident victim along a highway in Arizona was struck and killed by a vehicle.

The fatal crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of State Route 202 near Phoenix shortly before 4:00 a.m., when two concerned citizens had stopped to administer aid, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

At the crash site, DPS Sgt. Eric Andrews told FOX10 Phoenix, “This is an absolute tragedy.” “This is the worst-case scenario, in which someone who was completely uninvolved stops to help those in need, only to become a victim themselves.”

KNXV-TV reported that Andrews stated that another vehicle collided with the good Samaritan’s car and pushed it into one of the individuals, who later perished in the hospital.

DPS reports that the driver who struck the vehicle that prompted the good Samaritans to halt and assist was previously involved in a hit-and-run on I-17 near Durango Road.

The collision on 202 reportedly involved four vehicles.

Two additional drivers were taken to the hospital with severe injuries. According to local reports, a 5-month-old neonate was hospitalized in stable condition following the initial collision.

Troopers stated that impairment is being investigated as a potential factor, but the investigation is still ongoing.

The accident temporarily closed the lanes in the eastbound direction until later Sunday morning.

Good Samaritan rescues Floridian from a flaming vehicle.

Over the weekend in Florida, a good Samaritan’s prompt actions likely saved the life of a driver who slammed into a resale business.

Around 3:30 a.m., a drunk driver lost control of his SUV, smashed into The Second Time Around consignment boutique in Seminole. The Florida Highway Patrol notified FOX 13 Tampa Bay on Sunday.

“He would have been in those flames if I had been even 30 seconds late,” Travis DuPont, who was on his way home from work when he observed the incident and rushed over to aid, told the TV station.

Stephanie Turow captured the heroic rescue on camera. It shows DuPont dash over to the SUV, reach through the window, unbuckle the driver’s seatbelt, free his legs, and drag him out.

“The entire car was engulfed in flames in maybe 20-30 seconds,” Turow claimed. “It makes me want to cry right now because it was such a terrifying, terrifying moment.” And, yes, he is quite fortunate to be alive.”

DuPont stated that he realized he had to move quickly and hopes that others would have done the same.

“Everyone has that instinct to help,” he explained. “I just hope that when the going gets tough and that actually happens, everybody is capable of being a hero.”

Minor injuries were sustained by the driver, who was taken to the hospital. FHP had not charged him as of Tuesday. The consignment shop is now open again.
