Save $30 on our favorite smart air purifier during the Amazon Big Spring Sale

[ad_1]

The top smart air purifier in our guide is Levoit’s Core 400S Smart Air Purifier, which is currently down to $190 as part of Amazon’s Big Spring Sale. Just be sure to click the on-page coupon to take $30 off the list price. The discount is the largest we’ve seen this year, though the unit did dip to $179 in 2022’s Black Friday sale. In our tests, the unit performed better than some of its more expensive competitors and the filters are reasonably priced at $50 (other purifiers require replacements topping $100).

Our top pick for an air purifier is $30 off with an on-page coupon as part of Amazon’s Big Spring Sale.

$190 at Amazon

Air purifiers can be a good option for days when the pollen count is high or there’s yet another wildfire burning in your region — in other words when opening a window to let in fresh air isn’t an option. The Core 400S Smart purifier can auto-detect when there’s high particulate matter in the air, adjusting the fan speed accordingly. And fortunately, the highest speed isn’t disturbingly loud, yet still circulates a good amount of air. The on-board controls are easy and the connected app is fairly easy to set schedules and the like — after you get past the superfluous forums, wellness and shopping tabs in the over-stuffed app.

It uses a three-stage system comprised of a pre filter to catch pet hair and larger dust particles, then a activated carbon layer for trapping odors and VOCs. Then there’s a HEPA filter to remove pollen, mold and even some bacteria from the air. The machine is also Energy Star and CARB certified. The design isn’t the most inspired, but the Core 400S does its job well.

Our favorite budget wireless earbuds from Anker are cheaper than ever during the Amazon Spring Sale

[ad_1]

Even though it’s not technically another Prime Day, the Amazon Spring Sale includes a number of decent deals on gadgets we’ve recommended. Case in point: You can pick up the top pick in our best budget wireless earbuds guide, the Anker Soundcore Space A40, for an all-time low of $49. That’s a dollar less than the noise-canceling pair’s previous record low and $10 below its typical street price over the last couple of months. This deal is sold by Anker directly and applies to the black model; if you’d prefer a different finish, the blue and white versions are also on sale for a dollar more.

Photo by Jeff Dunn / Engadget

This is the lowest price to date for Anker’s wallet-friendly wireless earbuds.

$49 at Amazon

We like the Space A40 for blending pleasant sound with strong active noise cancellation (ANC) and most of the features you’d find on more expensive earbuds. That ANC isn’t quite as powerful as higher-end pairs like Sony’s WF-1000XM5, especially when it comes to muting voices and other treble-range sounds, but it still punches well above its price range. It’ll automatically adapt to the noise level of your surroundings by default, though you can manually set it to different intensity levels as well.

While this isn’t the most detailed-sounding set of earbuds you can buy, it’s a more pleasant listen than most budget-level options we’ve tested. It boosts the upper-bass range out of the box, but it doesn’t come off as bloated or sloppy. If you don’t like the default sound profile, you can pick from one of several EQ presets or customize the EQ curve yourself through Anker’s companion app.

The actual earpieces are light and comfortable, with an IPX4 water-resistance rating that’s enough to survive most workouts. They last around eight hours per charge, with another 40-ish hours available through a compact case that supports wireless charging. They can also connect to two devices at once. There are still some trade-offs: The mics are mediocre for phone calls; the touch-based controls are a little limited; and there’s no wear detection, so your music won’t pause automatically when you take out an earbud. But at this price, the pros should outweigh the cons.

This discount comes as part of a wider sale on Anker headphones that includes the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC, the runner up in our guide, on sale for $74.50. That’s a $25 discount. The Space A40 is a better value, but that pair offers most of the same benefits for those who prefer a more AirPods-style design. Other in-ear and over-ear models are also discounted.

My favorite Xbox and PC controller has received a chunky discount in Amazon’s spring sales

[ad_1]

The springtime sales are coming good for gaming peripherals and deals and one of my absolute favorite Xbox and PC controllers is discounted right now. The Thrustmaster eSwap X Pro controller is down a near-record-low price of $134.99 at Amazon in the US (was $169.99) – it’s the lowest price since for a good few months and since the holidays!

• Shop all Amazon Spring Sale deals

This is a superb saving of more than 20% on a premium PC controller, that also offers new ways to play games due to its modular design. I have a soft spot for it as it was the first controller I could use on an Xbox console – the modules allowed me to change it to a symmetrical layout and thus I finally had an Xbox controller that played nice with my hands. It’s around three years since it first came out, but with a newer version also coming out recently in the form of the Thrustmaster eSwap X2, we’re likely to enjoy price cuts on the eSwap X Pro while stock remains at retailers. This is such a price cut, and marks an ideal time to adopt the pro controller and take your gaming up a notch.

Not in the US? Scroll down for the best deals in your region. And if you’re after more deals this month, check out our full Amazon Spring Sale hub.

Today’s best Thrustmaster controller deal

On top of the modularity, this is a premium Xbox and PC pro controller more broadly – and certainly still holds up in the face of its slightly newer brethren that;’s come out recently. The eSwap X Pro offers changeable triggers, remappable back buttons, super-satisfyingly clicky shoulder and face buttons, ultra-responsive sticks, and a robust design. It is wired, but the 9.8ft / 3m cable should be long enough for most setups.

Our favorite budget wireless earbuds are cheaper than ever right now

[ad_1]

The Anker Soundcore Space A40 tops our guide to the best budget wireless earbuds, and right now Amazon has the noise-canceling pair on sale for a new low of $49. That’s a buck less than the previous low we saw around the holidays last year. Anker sells the earbuds for $100, though they’re often available for less than that; for the last two months, they’ve typically gone for $59 on Amazon. This offer is sold by Anker directly and comes a couple days ahead of Amazon’s wider “Big Spring Sale” sales event.

My favorite MacBook of all time is on sale at Walmart – and I think I’d buy four if I could

[ad_1]

Oh, Walmart, you have no idea what you’ve unleashed. A $699 MacBook Air with the M1 chip is the Big Mac to the Hamburglar, cookies to Cookie Monster, Bonnie to Clyde. It’s the antidote to MacBook Air lust without the deep-pocket investment and a game-over challenge to any affordable Wintel system Walmart has on its shelves

The Apple MacBook Air with M1 was an astonishing breakthrough. That’s how I described the first application of Apple Silicon on a Mac in 2020.

There was nothing exceptional about the design – it was the same as the last MacBook Air running an Intel CPU – but that ARM-based “brain transplant” produced a product with a new, winning, whip-smart, and ultra-efficient personality and I was smitten. No wonder I was sad when Apple discontinued the M1 MacBook Air in favor of the newest MacBook Air 13-inch running M3, AKA the best laptop you can buy. There’s still a cheaper $999 MacBook Air M2 but it features the flat slab design that supplanted the classic MacBook Air wedge.

Walmart MacBook Air Deal

I’ve grown to like that flat and arguably less stylish look, but I’ll always miss the original MacBook Air’s iconic and curvier design. There has never been a thinner laptop – at least when looked at from the front edge (0.16-inch) – or one that felt better in the hand. I even miss the visible speaker grilles on either side of the Magic Keyboard. Granted the ultraportable had just two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports (one per side!), no dedicated MagSafe charge port (that was an important upgrade from the M2 redesign), and the screen is a little smaller and not the excellent Liquid Retina Display upgrade we got with the MacBook Air M2. Still, show me a classic MacBook Air and I will break into a wistful smile.

One of our favorite pairs of noise-cancelling earbuds is down to a record-low price

[ad_1]

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra earbuds are now $250 ahead of the Amazon Spring Sale. This is a discount of 17 percent, as they typically cost $300. It also happens to be a record-low price for the wireless earbuds, though they’ve only been on the market since September of last year. You can find more Bose gear on sale here too.

Bose

The earbuds boast some of the best active noise cancellation around, rivaling many over-ear headphones. That’s the primary reason why the Bose QuietComfort Ultra line made our list of the best wireless earbuds.

However, there’s plenty more to like here. We called out the spatial audio capabilities in our official review, which doesn’t require specially-made content, thanks to virtualization software that works to put the listener right in the middle of the acoustic sweet spot. The battery life is on point, the sound quality is great and the touch controls let users easily change the volume, skip songs and answer calls. These are dang good earbuds.

They aren’t, however, perfect earbuds. As mentioned, the battery life is great, getting anywhere from 16 to 24 hours before needing juice, when you factor in a few trips to the charging case. However, using the spatial audio feature drastically reduces the battery life, so be cautious when enabling different modes. There’s no wireless charging out of the box, as this feature requires a $50 silicone cover for the charging case. Still, today’s discount saves $50, if wireless charging is an absolute must.
