Peabody Awards: ‘Abbott Elementary, ‘Reservation Dogs Among Nominees In Entertainment Categories

The Peabody Awards Thursday announced nominees in the entertainment, arts, children/youth, podcast/radio, interactive/emotional and community service, celebrating stories published in broadcast media throughout 2022. The nominees in the "Documentary" and "News" categories were announced at April 11th.

Entertainment nominees include Emmy winners Abbott Elementary , Atlanta , Bob's Burgers , and Here We Are , as well as new series like Indoors, Sisters, Mo, Pacchenko , and Somebody's Somewhere .

Shari Frilot is also the recipient of the first annual Visionary Award, which honors an individual whose groundbreaking work has shaped the field of interactive storytelling in terms of form, creativity, and boundary-pushing. Frilot is a senior programmer at the Sundance Film Festival and lead curator of New Frontiers at Sundance, where he founded the Sundance Online Film Festival in 2001 and presented film installations and screenings in the Frontiers section of the festival prior to founding New Frontiers. PBS leads the list with 13 nominees, followed by HBO/HBO Max with six, Apple TV+ with four, Disney+ and FX with three, and ABC, Channel 4, Netflix and Vice with two.

The winners of the 83rd Annual Peabody Awards will be announced on May 9 and then honored at a ceremony on Sunday, June 11 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. This will be Peabody's first in-person ceremony since 2019, and the first in the 83-year history of the awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
