On November 30, 1971, Ron and Corrinne Arnold welcomed Kristi Lynn Noem to the world at a local hospital in Watertown, South Dakota. Political Career
South Dakota House of Representatives
Noem was elected as a Republican to the South Dakota House of Congress in 2006, serving the 6th district with 39% of the vote. She was re-elected with 41% of the vote in 2008. Noem functioned for four years, from 2007 to 2010, and during her second term, she was an assistant majority leader.
During her tenure, Noem was a primary sponsor of 11 legislation that became law, including various property tax improvements and two bills to expand South Dakota’s gun rights. She was vice chair of the Agriculture Land Assessment Advisory Task Force in 2009. Senator Larry Rhoden, who later served as her deputy governor, chaired the task team.
