Hot Wheels x 7-Eleven Nissan GT-R R35 zooms into Malaysia: First in Southeast Asia

The Hot Wheels x 7-Eleven Nissan GT-R R35 has made its way to Malaysia with a massive launch yesterday at Café by 7-Eleven Damansara Uptown. Malaysia is the first Southeast Asian market to receive the new limited-edition model – just a week after it was released in the United States.

Throngs of Hot Wheels fans made their way to the event to be one of the first in the region to get their hands on the GT-R R35 model. In fact, the first person in the line queued up since 10 PM the night before, which was more than 12 hours before the model was launched to customers.

Hot Wheels x 7-Eleven Nissan GT-R R35 Malaysia Pricing, Availability

Being a Hot Wheels Silver Series release, the Hot Wheels x 7-Eleven Nissan GT-R R35 offers more details than the usual Mainline releases. That’s why it costs more than your usual Hot Wheels at RM19.90.

After the initial rollout at Café by 7-Eleven Damansara Uptown, the new Hot Wheels x 7-Eleven Nissan GT-R R35 will be made available at over 2,700 7-Eleven outlets in Peninsular Malaysia starting from Monday, 20 July. The model is expected to arrive at 7-Eleven outlets in East Malaysia by the end of the month.

What’s the Hot Wheels x 7-Eleven Nissan GT-R R35 all about?

While the 2017 Nissan GT-R R35 model is the 2nd Hot Wheels x 7-Eleven release, this is the 1st to make its way to the international market. The previous release, which featured the 1994 Toyota Super MK4, was limited to the U.S.

Featuring a black base and gloss white body colour, the casting of this GT-R R35 model was designed by one of the brand’s most well-known designers, the late Ryu Asada. This particular release also featured motorsport-inspired 7-Eleven liveries that were crafted by Indonesian designer Anton Henggono.

Other details that you can spot on the new Hot Wheels x 7-Eleven GT-R R35 are gold-coloured 6-spoke wheels and a right-hand drive setup. There is also a “WHERECAR?” number plate on the back – a reference to an inside joke that was based on a popular question that the 7-Eleven US social media fans loved to ask when the company began to embrace car culture a few years ago.
