The 2026 BYD Atto 3 is now officially in Malaysia – the first market to receive the facelifted model with rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup in Asia Pacific. Alongside the RWD version (officially called the 2026 BYD Atto 3 Premium), there is also the 2026 BYD Atto 3 Ultra, which has the same performance specs as the existing Ultra but with new exterior and interior features.

2026 BYD Atto 3 Premium: RWD setup with a more powerful motor and a longer range

In general, the 2026 Atto 3 Premium follows the same specs as the Atto 3 Evo RWD in Europe.
The 2026 Atto 3 Premium has been fitted with a 230kW (308hp) motor, which also produces 380Nm of torque. As a comparison, the 2026 Atto 3 Ultra has a front-mounted 150kW (201hp) motor with 310Nm of torque – similar to the previous Atto 3 Ultra.

The new motor allows the Atto 3 Premium to deliver 0-100km/h timing of 5.5 seconds. BYD also said that the front suspension setup for this model is dual-ball joint MacPherson, similar to the Seal 6, while the SUV also has a 5-link multilink rear suspension.
At the same time, the Atto 3 Premium also comes with a 74.88kWh battery. The larger capacity battery allows the Atto 3 Premium to deliver an NEDC-rated range of 600km or an estimated WLTP range of 510km.

The charging capability of the Atto 3 Premium has been improved as well. The electric SUV is said to be able to support a DC charging speed of up to 220kW, together with 11kW AC charging.
The Atto 3 Premium also comes with a 101L frunk, dual-zone climate control, and additional controls for the front passenger seat. There are also additional ADAS features, including Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Front Cross Traffic Brake (FCTB), and Intelligent Speed Limit Control (ISLC), as well as 7 airbags, which is one more than its Ultra counterpart.
2026 BYD Atto 3 Ultra: Same performance, improved charging

At RM125,800, the 2026 Atto 3 Ultra is RM2,000 more expensive than its predecessor, although still RM13,000 cheaper than the equally new 2026 Atto 3 Premium. While it still features a front-wheel drive (FWD) setup alongside the 150kW motor, 60.48kWh BYD Blade LFP battery, and 7kW AC charging, its DC charging speed has improved from 88kW to 110kW.
2026 BYD Atto 3 facelift: The exterior and interior changes

The general body outline of the facelifted version is still the same as per the pre-FL Atto 3 Ultra. In fact, it still has the same dimensions too – around 4.5m long, 1.8m wide, and 1.6m tall with a wheelbase of 2.7m.
However, the 2026 Atto 3 features a new front and rear bumper design as well as redesigned taillights with a new knotted pattern. The SUV also comes with a new spoiler with integrated split brake lights, and BYD has also removed the scale pattern covers on the car’s C-pillar.

At the same time, there are also some changes to the boot space. The 2026 Atto 3 Premium has more space at 490L, which can be expanded further up to 1,360L when you lower its rear seats.
On the other hand, the 2026 Atto 6 Ultra has a slightly lower amount of default boot space at 434L, which is just a few litres lower than its predecessor (440L). However, the amount of expanded space is still equal to that of its predecessor at 1,340L.

Just like its exterior, the Atto 3 FL’s interior is also a combination of old and new design elements. Specifically, BYD has retained the model’s infamous “guitar strings” deco on the door as well as air conditioning vents and grip-style door handles.
That being said, the dashboard’s general design has been changed, while there is also a new steering wheel, which is similar to the one that was fitted to Atto 2 and Seal 6 EV. The Atto 3 FL also comes with a new, more minimalist centre console, while the drive selector form factor has been switched from a gear stick to a column shifter.

Furthermore, the Atto 3 FL has also been fitted with a much larger 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. It still comes with a 15.6-inch infotainment display, but the screen is no longer rotatable.
2026 BYD Atto 3: How to differentiate Ultra and Premium?

The easiest way to differentiate the 2026 Ultra from its Premium counterpart is the wheel design. Even though the 2026 Ultra still features 18-inch wheels, they still use the pre-FL design, and we also noticed that the display unit at the launch event featured Continental EcoContact 6Q 235/50 tyres.
Meanwhile, the wheels on the 2026 Premium feature a new design. This variant also comes with the newer Continental EcoContact 7 tyres.

Not to forget, the charging port for both variants is located in different positions. For Ultra, it is still on top of the right front wheel just like the previous Atto 3’s iterations, while the Premium’s charging port is above the right rear wheel.
