In the year 2024, if you go to the phrase "loser patient" in the latest edition of the American Heritage Idiom Dictionary, there's a good chance you'll see a photo of Dillon Brooks and/or Ja Morant above that phrase.
Which is why, in his second game back (and in a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies en route to the Los Angeles Lakers), Brooks refused to speak to the assembled media after the game, according to ESPN's Tim McMahon. Just watch "I'm gone."
McMahon added that Morant also opted not to appear in the press due to the Grizzlies' 117-111 loss in Game 4 in Los Angeles, which the Lakers won 3-1. And probably decided the fate of Memphis. He is the second seed eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
some men driving
After being very open with the press about James in the first two contests on the show, it's funny that now that Brooks seems to be on the verge of a shock loss on the show, he's suddenly gone quiet on Morant.
As two of the loudest rookies on the team, Brooks and Morant should lead the way. After a season in which the Grizzlies became not just small-market sports news darlings, but the league's villain (and in Morant's case, perhaps worse), the team was at least generous with your comments. in the media, hoping against all odds to encourage the players with words of encouragement.
But I think it would take a lot of finesse and sophistication for such tough young stars. A long time ago

In a surprise move, Fox News has split from primetime anchor Tucker Carlson after he made derogatory comments about fellow networkers being exposed during a legal battle with a voting machine company.
Mr. Carlson's departure ended more than a decade at the conservative news network, during which he became cable television's highest-rated prime-time news anchor.
Carlson, whose contract expires in 2021, will receive payments for the remainder of the contract, according to people familiar with the matter. According to the source, Mr. Carlson is paid around $20 million a year. According to People, Mr Carlson learned of his sacking about 10 minutes before announcing his departure from the network.
According to a person familiar with the matter, Fox News' parent company CEO Lachlan Murdoch and Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott decided on Friday that Carlson will leave the network.
Mr. Carlson's departure creates another high-profile opening in the cable news landscape, which has seen some familiar faces leave over the past year and a half. Also on Monday, CNN parted ways with the underrated Don Lemon, who left prime time at 10 p.m. to host the network's new morning show.
Fox News reported Monday that Mr. Carlson's last show was Friday, April 21, and that he would rely on a rotating host until he appoints a permanent host for the 8 p.m. show.
Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmead hosted the show on Monday night. In his opening statement, Kilmead confirmed Carlson's departure, saying he was "a great friend of Tucker's."
An attorney representing Carlson did not respond to a request for comment.

Fox's decision to let Carlson go comes less than a week after Fox Corp. agreed to pay $787.5 million to settle a legal dispute with Dominion Voting Systems. The 2020 US presidential election falls in favor of Joe Biden. Mr. Carlson should testify in court.
Fox Corporation and News Corp., parent company of The Wall Street Journal. they share common property. Fox shares fell 3% on Monday.
Private messages Mr. Carlson sent to colleagues became public during the Dominion libel trial. Carlson has repeatedly poked fun at on-air guest commentaries, expressed hatred for former President Donald Trump and complained about Fox executives and colleagues.
In a private text message nearly two weeks after Election Day, Mr Carlson and primetime presenters Laura Ingram and Sean Hannity complained about the network's coverage, including the first time the network named Biden's battleground state Arizona the night before. election, a decision that angered some Fox News viewers.
"We dedicated our lives to audience engagement and they let Chris Wallace and Leland fuck the hell Wittert screw it up," Carlson said, according to the document, which quotes two Fox News employees. Mr. Wallace now works for CNN. and Mr. Vittert is a reporter for NewsNation.
"Do executives realize how much trust and credibility we've lost with our audience?" According to court documents, Carlson texted his colleague again.
Fox contradicted Carlson's comments that slandered the network, people familiar with the matter said. They said most of the messages were redacted in court documents but leaked to Fox management.
When a Fox News reporter reviewed one of Trump's Dominion tweets, Carlson also complained to a colleague, "Please fire him," Carlson told Fox News host Sean Hannity, according to the lawsuit. "It's clearly hurting business."
Before Dominion's lawsuit was settled, Supreme Court Justice Eric Davis had already ruled that Fox News and Fox Business had made false allegations about Dominion by network moderators and Trump associates. In a statement announcing the settlement, Fox confirmed the judge's finding.
Court documents also revealed Carlson's feelings towards Trump. In a January 2021 text message exchange, Carlson said the network was "very close to ignoring Trump most nights," adding, "I hate him passionately" regarding the former president.
A recent Wall Street Journal poll found Trump leading the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
Mr. Carlson has recently come under fire from both Democrats and Republicans for showing never-before-seen footage of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol. Carlson said lawmakers intentionally exaggerated the level of violence. "The footage shows no rioting or rioting on Capitol Hill," Carlson said during a speech in early March.
Mr Carlson is the defendant in a lawsuit filed last month by Abby Grossberg, Mr Carlson's former producer and Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo. The lawsuit, which also names Fox and others, says: "Mr. Carlson's snide comments about women and his contempt for those who dare to oppose such misogyny are well known on the set of his show. Fox News fired Ms Grossberg soon after, saying she had complained without taking any steps to protect "pieces of Fox proprietary information." Ms Grossberg's lawyers called her dismissal "retaliation".
In a statement following the announcement of Mr. Carlson's resignation on Monday, Ms. Grossberg's attorneys said, "Tucker Carlson's departure from Fox News is, in part, an admission of lies, threats and conspiracies. What our client claims is systematic.”
Mr. Carlson did not comment on the lawsuit. Fox said at the time that it had engaged an independent outside consultant to investigate the concerns raised by Ms. Grossberg.
Fox has lost several well-known anchors in recent years, including Megyn Kelly and Bill O'Reilly, who were replaced by Mr. Carlson, who has become the highest-rated prime-time cable news anchor. Primetime shows attract the largest share of viewers for Fox and other cable channels and are a major driver of the network's advertising business.
Mr. Carlson began his career as a writer for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the conservative Weekly Standard. He rose to national prominence as the host of CNN's Crossfire, where he represented the political right until the show's cancellation in 2005, and had a memorable encounter with the show's then host, Jon Stewart. He also worked for MSNBC and co-founded the conservative website Daily Caller.
During his time at Fox News, Mr. Carlson became a lightning rod for his often controversial comments. On a recent show, Carlson suggested that Justin Pearson, one of the Tennessee lawmakers pushing for stricter gun control, should probably go to elite colleges because he's black.
Carlson also lamented the changes confectionery giant Mars Inc. had made to various M&M mascots, including the decision to change the green M&M shoes from boots to sneakers. In 2018, he faced an advertising boycott after saying on-air that some immigrants were making America "dirtier and more divided." Fox linked the Carlson boycott to advocacy groups encouraging brands to advertise online.
In addition to his nightly presence on Fox News, Mr. Carlson is also known for Fox Nation, the news channel's live streaming service. He published special news and investigative reports on the platform.
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Scientist Dong-Hai Li and Zhizhong Zhu were recently elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
The academy, according to its website, serves as an honorary society and independent research center for leaders in various disciplines.

Ingle Martin has been an important part of the local football scene for four decades. That might seem like a small problem until you consider that Martin is only 40 years old.
Making the math even more difficult is that football was not Martin's favorite sport at all when he began his athletic career at Montgomery Bell Academy.
"It's crazy to think about the journey football has taken me on," Martin said. "As a child, football was probably not the most favorite sport. I was passionate about many other things. "Football really chose me."
Martin went from basketball, football and baseball to Parade and SuperPrep football, racking up more than 2,000 passes and runs in his high school career. He became one of the greatest and most accomplished high school quarterbacks to ever play in Nashville, and his football career led to him being named to the Tennessee All-Decade Team from 2000-09.
"I was fortunate enough to have a couple of guys (former MBA football coach Ricky Bowers and assistant Jamie Redmond) who knew enough to tell me, 'Football is probably what's going to end up paying for your college,'" he said. "I was 15 and they sat me down and said, 'You might be really good at basketball and everything, but you're probably going to be special at football.'
Martin's four decades in football include being on the 1998 and 1999 IBA state championship teams and the 1999 Mr. Football II AA. Football in 2000, when he led the Big Red to another state title en route to becoming a potential four-star SEC Championship contender at Florida.
He started the first half of the 2003 season before getting injured and transferring to Furman, where he posted a school-record 5,751 yards and 42 touchdowns over two seasons.
He was then selected by the Green Packers in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL Draft and was a member of three other NFL teams before 2009, including the Tennessee Titans (2007–08).
2010 and 2020 were highlighted when Martin became an assistant coach at Ensworth in Bowers State in 2010 and then head coach at Christ Presbyterian Academy in 2011. He led CPA to state championships in 2014, 2018 and 2020, finishing second. year, including 2022.
"Wow, four decades makes me feel a little old," Martin said. “But what Coach Bowers and Redmond told me at the time was definitely a blessing. It's clear that God has things planned for me that I didn't know about, and it's been an amazing journey."
Martin admits his football streak probably would have ended had he not transferred to Furman. It was there, as he led the Paladins to a two-year 21-6 record and the quarterfinals of the FCS (then Division I-AA) playoffs in both seasons, that his passion for the sport was rekindled.
“My two years at Furman really taught me everything I needed to in terms of life balance,” Martin said. “Furman was a community very much like MBA: just good people from all walks of life. Academics were very important at Furman and it was a formative time for me and I look back and realize I probably wouldn't be coaching if it wasn't for those two years.

There are two things that keep me from expanding my collection of old computers: the cost and the space needed to store them. I have an old original TRS-80 and an old serial station (see video below). However, she abandons Data General's equipment and loses her old 1802 COSMAC Elf due to flooding. There have been many copies of older computers with varying degrees of accuracy, and they tend to be cheaper and smaller than the originals. I have an Altair replica, an Elf replica and a KIM-1 replica.
However, the cost and expense of real and replicas is hard to justify. The situation is even worse with really large machines, some of which require special power or cooling and are difficult to maintain. Another option, of course, is software emulation. Options like SIMH and Hercules work well, but they aren't always graphic and require a lot of work to set up a machine to play for hours or show a student how it was done in the good old days.
On the other hand, there are some older PC emulators that run right in your browser. No software to install, no hardware to set up, and a lot of it is graphics related. I know a lot of people don't want to post their work on a "cloud service", but I'm willing to risk a 30-line BASIC program guessing your number.
PC/OSI are actually two different emulators, one for the IBM PC (which I can hardly call an old PC) and the other for the Ohio Scientific Challenger 1P. The site has many ready-made demos (including Windows 1.0) and you can also set up your own. Or maybe you prefer to play Wolfenstein and other games.
Mac – If you don't like Windows, you might like Mac OS 7.
Amiga. The Amiga had many features ahead of its time and you can try the Amiga 500 here.
I still have the TRS-80 – Model III, but you can play VR in your browser.
COSMAC Elf – The COSMAC Elf was the first computer I personally owned and this site contains a very detailed graphical version of the system along with some extras.
KIM-1 was a very useful single computer that deployed the KIM 6502. This version of the browser gives you the feel of an old hobbyist computer.
Altair – You need Java, but this emulator allows you to experience a computer that can start the home and hobby computer market.
PDP/11 – Before Linux, there was Unix. This page allows you to run Unix 6 on a virtual PDP/11. The sixth version is so old that you should know that the cd command didn't exist yet (try chdir). Use the # key to go back and the @ key to delete a line (imagine you are using a vulture typewriter). If you are tired of capital letters, read the link on the site.
EDSAC – Dr. Wilkes' EDSAC was one of the first modern computers to actually work. His team at Cambridge developed many of the approaches we take for granted today. This is a rare machine that can be programmed and you can refer to your computer emulator manual for more on how to program it.
ENIAC. If you're having trouble programming EDSAC, try this (but you'll need a Java-enabled browser).
I'm sure there are others, but this is enough to get you started and I'm sure others will pick up on the comments. If you want to evaluate the difference between loading a web page and loading it on a real device, you can compare a PDP/11 recording with a real recording. There are also sites to connect to real old hardware, which can be the best of both worlds. For another crossover (modern simulator and old serial station) you can watch my video below where I try to save the galaxy from the Klingons.

Donald Trump has claimed that he was on friendly terms with his political rival, Hillary Clinton, and especially with her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
"They came to my wedding," Trump told Fox News host Mark Levine in an interview that aired Sunday night.
The 45th president said he often trades cards with the 42nd, and Clinton plays regularly at Trump National Golf Club in Westchester.
Trump also claimed that the Democrats missed an opportunity by not using Clinton in 2016 "when she was running Hillary." "I think they have this amazing gun called Bill Clinton, who was a born politician."
Meanwhile, Trump faces trial this week in a lawsuit brought by author E. Jean Carroll, who alleges the former president raped her in the 1990s.
Trump faces two separate lawsuits for libel and defamation, brought by Ms. Carroll, who says he sexually assaulted her in the dressing room of Bergdorf Goodman's Manhattan department store. The trial opened Tuesday in New York with jury selection.

Donald Trump has claimed to have a cordial relationship with his political rival Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
The 45th president said he often exchanges letters with Clinton. "They came to my wedding," Trump told Fox News host Mark Levine in an interview that aired Sunday night.
The Republican leader said Clinton was a regular at Trump National Golf Club in Westchester.
"He loved this course. He was there so much. He just loved it. He loves playing golf and he was…better [at golf] than people thought…he actually enjoys some athleticism," he added.
Trump claimed that the opportunity not to use Clinton's political intelligence was a missed opportunity "when I ran against Hillary in the 2016 presidential election."
"I think they have this amazing gun called Bill Clinton, who was a born politician."
Trump added that Mrs. Clinton refused to travel to Wisconsin during the 2016 race because she was apparently considering it for her column.

Former President Donald Trump will face his last legal challenge this week when E.G. Carroll's lawsuit against him begins.
The trial is expected to begin in New York on April 25.
Ms. Carroll, a columnist and writer, is suing the former president for defamation and assault
She alleges that Trump sexually assaulted her in the store's fitting room in the 1990s. After Trump debunked the allegations in his book in 2019, Trump denied it, saying he had "never met Ms. Carroll and she's not his type" at all.

Trump talks about his efforts to limit abortion rights after being attacked by a pro-life group
01:00 , Associated Press
Donald Trump, who has come under fire from an anti-abortion group in the country, used a speech Saturday to a number of influential evangelicals in Iowa to highlight his actions as president to try to limit abortion rights.
The most important achievement cited by Trump was the appointment of three conservative justices to the US Supreme Court. The appointments paved the way for last year's overturning of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that upheld the federal right to abortion.
These judges have achieved a historic victory in protecting innocent lives. "No one thought this would happen," Trump said, who was present via video link at the Faith and Freedom Alliance meeting in Iowa. “They thought it would take another 50 years. Because that's what Republicans have been trying to do for 50 years.
Trump often avoided talking about abortion while campaigning for the White House again, the issue less than a year after Court Roe was removed from office .
But his stance that abortion restrictions should be left to the states, not the federal government, drew sharp criticism Thursday from the Susan B. Anthony's pro-American Life, which she called "an immoral stance for a self-proclaimed pro-life candidate."

Trump posts video "endorsing" Michael Moore's treatment

Donald Trump took to Twitter Sunday morning to retweet a video praising Michael Moore.
It's not clear if the former president realized that the video, which appeared to appear to be endorsed by the director, was actually filmed in 2016, with Moore sarcastically endorsing the then presidential candidate.
According to the Ballmer Report, the original video shows Moore pretending to defend Trump before explaining why he's a bad president.
Trump vowed to "bring God back" in his Iowa speech

Donald Trump turned his back on religion in a speech to the Faith and Freedom Coalition in Iowa on Saturday night.
In his recorded speech, he said, "Under my leadership, we will bring God back into our schools and public spaces, and it will happen very quickly."
Some critics on social media pointed out the apparent discrepancy between Trump's words that he was two days away from the trial of Jean Carroll, who accused Trump of raping her in the 1990s.

A new poll shows that 68% of Republicans support Trump after his impeachment
Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 7:00 PMMegan Sheets
About 70 percent of Republican voters said they support Donald Trump even after his impeachment trial in New York, according to a new poll.
The NBC News poll, conducted April 14-18, asked voters to choose between two statements describing their views of the various investigations into Trump and the Republican presidential nomination.
The first explanation read: “These are politically motivated efforts to stop Trump. There is no other candidate like him, we have to support him.”
And the second: "It is important to name a candidate who does not confuse him and who can defeat Joe Biden."
Of the 292 Republican voters who answered, 68 percent chose the first answer and 26 percent chose the second.

New Hampshire governor calls Trump a 'four-time loser'
Sunday, April 23, 2023, 4:10 PM , Megan Sheets
New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sonnon gave Donald Trump an odd new tag while discussing the 2024 presidential campaign: "Four times the blessing."
Sununu made the shocking remarks during his appearance on Meet the Press on Sunday.
"Donald Trump presents himself as a loser four times in 2024," he said. "We need candidates who can win."
It comes two months after Republicans confidently predicted that Trump would not win the Republican nomination.
"We're moving forward as a team and as a country," he said in February. "He's not going to be nominated. That's not going to happen. Good news. I'll give you good news. Ready? … You're wrong. He's not going to be nominated."

Donald Trump praised the Supreme Court for overturning Roe v. Wade in a video address to the Faith and Freedom Coalition in Iowa Saturday night.
Trump seemed to recall last summer's ruling that struck down national protections for abortion, citing three conservative justices he appointed during his presidency: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett.
These judges have achieved a historic victory in protecting innocent lives. Nobody thought that would happen."
The former president said he himself took "historic steps to protect fetuses" while promoting his work on behalf of Iowans.
"Together, we have achieved more for our values than any other government in the history of our country, and this is far from the case," he said.
And a former Trump ally jumped to DeSantis' side
Sunday, April 23, 2023 12:00 PMMegan Sheets
Adam Laxalt, the former Nevada attorney general and longtime ally of Donald Trump, appears to have beaten rival Ron DeSantis in the 2024 race.
Mr. Laxalt announced Saturday that Mr. Laxalt will help lead Never Back Down, which encourages DeSantis to challenge Mr. Trump for the Republican presidential nomination.
Mr. Laxalt and Mr. DeSantis have a long history, having attended Naval Law School together years ago.
But despite their longtime friendship, the decision to endorse DeSantis could anger Trump, whose 2020 campaign in Nevada led Laxalt.

In Sunday's review of the Dominion voting system case, Fox News anchor Howard Kurtz finally acknowledged that the case was "shameful" for the right-wing network after defending Fox News' coverage of the lawsuit and accusing other media outlets of opposing it. . .
"The vast majority of the media was anti-Fox and therefore helping Dominion," he told MediaBuzz Sunday.
As evidence, he cited Murdoch-owned media outlets such as Politico, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal, which said the results were disappointing. (Many media commentators and observers, after the $787.5 million settlement, did not need to apologize for spreading lies about the 2020 election, and only vaguely admitted that they were spreading lies.)
Kurtz, the network's media specialist, also noted that he covered the incident. Kurtz told viewers in February that the network had banned him from covering it, but the rule appears to have changed ahead of a hearing scheduled last week.
“I started reporting, first with Neil Cavuto and then with special reports, that what some Fox shows are showing or letting others say, from former President Trump to his lawyers, are false conspiracy theories,” he said. Kurtz was in Delaware last week to cover the case.
He called reports accusing Fox News of ignoring on-air hearings "completely false" and said, "I've been covering this for weeks."
The Washington Post's analysis of the network's coverage of the lawsuit found that "few Fox shows discussed the landmark case."
Kurtz also summarized part of the Fox News statement, which said, "We are accepting court rulings that found some of the allegations against Dominion to be false." According to Curtis, this statement acknowledges that false information was broadcast on the network.
"I said that Fox acknowledged in its statement the findings of Judge Eric Davis that some of the on-air comments about Dominion were false," he said. And this CEO of Dominion told reporters in the most horrifying way that Fox had lied.
“This is important now because almost two and a half years later, Donald Trump claims without evidence and continues to say that the elections were rigged against him,” he added.
He admitted he was "embarrassed" by the "gap" between what some Fox News anchors say publicly and privately about the 2020 election. Private correspondence released during the trial showed Fox News top talent and executives were skeptical of the allegations against them. Trump allies were allowed to distribute it on Facebook.ether.
And while Kurtz said the network "has taken a hit in the court of public opinion," he asked, "What impact has this tough eviction had on Fox News? Last week it was again the highest rated network on basic cable."

A slowdown in the tech sector is hurting Seattle's payroll jumpstart, targeting Amazon and other big companies.
What's happening: Payroll tax revenues through 2024 are projected to be about 10% lower than forecast.
That's down $62 million over two years, according to city revenue forecasts released last week.
Plus: The city now expects to collect $103 million less in taxes than it expected between 2025 and 2027, largely due to the continued impact of the tech sector slowdown.
Why it matters: The JumpStart levy funds a variety of city initiatives, including affordable housing projects, climate protection efforts, small business support, and community development programs.
It will also be used to fill a gap in the city's $1.6 billion general fund budget, worth approximately $100 million annually over the next two years.
Context: The city's general treasury is in a long-term deficit because the city is spending more than it should be taking in.
City officials agreed to use the JumpStart funds as a temporary fix for 2023 and 2024, but it wasn't meant to be permanent.
Backlog: The JumpStart levy applies to companies with annual payrolls exceeding $8.1 million and at least one employee earning $174,337 or more annually.
Few companies meet these criteria and many are in the technology sector, Ben Noble, director of the city's Office of Economic and Revenue Forecasting (OERF), said at a meeting last week.
As a result, recent declines in the share value of tech companies have hurt JumpStart's tax revenues, Noble said.
Many technicians have continued to work from home even after the pandemic. This means that at least part of the working time of workers living outside the city is not taxed.
Status: To avoid potential cuts to JumpStart-funded programs this year, the board may need to vote to reduce the amount of money transferred from the JumpStart fund to the general fund.
Seattle City Councilwoman Teresa Mosqueda , who chairs the council's budget committee, said declining payroll tax revenues weren't a major budget concern right now.
Over the next two years, other taxes entering the general fund, including corporate taxes and sales taxes, are expected to be $70 million more than currently projected. Mosqueda told Axios that the extra cash could be used to offset lower-than-expected tax collections from JumpStart.
Yes, but: in the long run, the city is threatened by a major budget crisis.
By 2025, according to city officials, the city's general fund is projected to have a shortfall of more than $200 million.
Next: Masjida said the city's projected budget deficit indicates the need for a new tax stream.
The task force is examining potential options for the new tax and is expected to make recommendations in July.
Meanwhile, City Council is reviewing revenue data and may issue updated spending guidelines to departments if needed, Jamie Housen, spokesman for Mayor Bruce Harrell, told Axios.
