Those who want the most powerful 2024 iPad Pro available need to choose one with at least 1TB of storage. Going with lots of capacity brings a faster version of the new M4 processor and twice as much RAM.
The high-storage versions also have the option of a nano-texture display glass.
Getting all these adds considerably to the price tag, though.
Upgrade 2024 iPad Pro storage for more RAM, other improvements
It’s not unusual for Apple to add bonus features for those who configure their iPad Pro with more storage. Additional capacity adds more RAM has been the deal for a while. But not all shoppers are aware of it.
With the 2024 iPad Pro — whether the 13-inch or 11-inch versions — choosing 1TB or 2TB of built-in storage bumps the RAM from 8GB to 16GB.
It also upgrades the M4 processor from three performance cores to four performance cores. Otherwise the chips are identical, with six efficiency cores, a ten-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine.
Plus, only those two top configurations have the option of nano-texture display glass. Apple says this is “precisely etched at a nanometer scale, maintaining image quality and contrast while scattering ambient light for reduced glare.”
But expect to pay for it
The base model 11-inch iPad Pro is $999 (U.S.) and the base 13-inch iPad Pro model is $1,299 (U.S.). These have 256GB of storage — configuring them with a lot more boosts the price significantly. Going with 1TB jumps the cost to $1,599 or $1,899, respectively. The 2TB upgrade brings the cost to $1,999 or $2,299, respectively.
Adding nano-texture display glass increases the cost by $100.
The tablet is available for pre-order now. It will reach customers next week, on May 15.
