What’s new in iOS 17.2 beta 3 (Video)

iOS 17.2 beta 3

Apple hgas released a number of new betas this week, including iOS 17.2 beta 3, iPadOS 17.2 beta 3, watchOS 10.2 beta 3, and macOS Sonoma 14.2 beta 3. Apple’s latest update, iOS 17.2 Beta 3, offers a range of new features and improvements. As an experienced technology and internet article writer, I’m excited to delve into what this update, approximately 650MB in size and tagged with the build number 21C5046C, brings to the table. Let’s explore the key updates and what they mean for iPhone users.

First off, the update size of about 650 MB may vary depending on the device and its previous version. The build number 21C5046C suggests we’re nearing the final stages of testing, with the Release Candidate version likely on the horizon.

A major visual delight is the return of the animated colored circles wallpaper, previously removed. This update offers customization in colors and the choice between a light or dark appearance, enhancing the personalization of your device. For those who love typing efficiency, the new toggle to show or hide inline predictive text while keeping the predictive text bar is a significant enhancement. This feature offers a more streamlined typing experience without sacrificing the convenience of predictive text.

A notable update is the integration between Photos and Apple Music. The new popup in the Photos app asks for permission to access Apple Music, aiming to curate songs for memories, adding a personalized touch to your photo experience.

Music lovers will appreciate the new settings toggle that prevents favorited songs from automatically downloading, offering more control over your music library. Furthermore, collaborative playlists now display the creator’s name, and the collaborate icon has received a subtle redesign, enhancing the collaborative experience.

For FaceTime users, the app will now warn if a blocked contact joins a call, adding an extra layer of privacy. In the realm of note-taking, the Notes app might soon allow collaboration via AirDrop, hinted at by a change in the share menu wording.

As we look forward, no new beta is expected next week due to Thanksgiving, but Beta 4 is anticipated the following week. The final release of iOS 17.2, along with the Release Candidate version, is expected in early December.

Budget vs Expensive Android smartphones compared (Video)

Budget vs Expensive Android smartphones

There is a big difference in price between budget Android smartphones and expensive Android smartphones, but is there really that much of a difference in their usability, a new video from Mrwhostheboss compares two handsets side by side.

In the video below the Xiaomi Rdmi Note 13 which costs $349 is tested side by side with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra which costs $1,379, the aim of the video is to work out if flagship phones are worth their high price compared to budget models that claim to offer similar features.

Build Quality and Design

Both the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra showcase impressive build quality. The S23 Ultra stands out with its latest Gorilla Glass and armor aluminum construction, offering a slightly more premium feel. In contrast, the Redmi, while using slightly less advanced materials, still holds up well, making the difference in build quality minimal for the average user. Notably, the Redmi package includes a case, USB-C cable, and a 120W fast charger, whereas Samsung opts to provide only a cable.

Display

When it comes to display, both smartphones boast a 120Hz OLED screen, with minor variations in color tint and resolution. The Samsung device offers higher resolution and brightness potential, but these advantages aren’t always noticeable in default settings. The Redmi’s display, surprisingly comparable to the Samsung’s, offers a similar user experience, making it a standout feature for a budget phone.

Battery and Charging

The Redmi takes the lead in charging speed with its 120W charger, although it lacks wireless charging capability. The Samsung, with its advanced battery technology and efficient power management, edges out slightly in terms of battery life. This difference could be a deciding factor for users prioritizing longevity over charging speed.

Software and Updates

Both phones run on Android 13 and provide smooth user experiences. The Redmi offers customization options that many users appreciate. However, as a flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra typically receives more prompt and longer-term software updates, which can be crucial for keeping your device up-to-date with the latest features and security patches.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra shines in performance with a more powerful processor and faster storage. This difference becomes noticeable in app responsiveness and gaming. While the Redmi handles basic tasks competently, the Samsung excels in more demanding applications, making it a better choice for power users.

Camera Quality

Both smartphones feature a 200MP main camera, but Samsung’s camera is slightly superior, especially in terms of advanced features and additional lenses like zoom. The Redmi performs admirably in various lighting conditions but can’t match Samsung’s advanced stabilization and video processing capabilities.

Overall Experience

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus offers a remarkably close experience to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in many aspects, especially in general quality-of-life features. However, for those who need extra power, battery longevity, and superior camera capabilities, Samsung stands out as the more suitable of the two Android smartphones for power users.

Flagship phones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra have their place in the market, especially for users who demand advanced features and performance. However, budget phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus are closing the gap, delivering much of the flagship experience at a fraction of the cost. This comparison reveals that the choice between a budget and a premium smartphone often boils down to individual needs and preferences, with both segments offering compelling options.

M3 Pro MacBook Pro vs M2 Pro MacBook Pro (Video)

M3 Pro MacBook Pro

Apple recently launched their new M3 Pro MacBook Pro and now we get to see how this new laptop compares to the M2 Pro MacBook Pro that it replaces. Are you torn between the latest M3 MacBook Pro and its formidable predecessor, the M2 MacBook Pro? Apple’s continuous innovation raises the bar with each release, but understanding the nuances of these upgrades is crucial for making an informed decision. The video below from Max Tech delves deep into a comparison of these two tech marvels, covering everything from design tweaks to performance benchmarks.

Design and Aesthetics

At first glance, the M3 Pro MacBook retains much of its predecessor’s look, but with an elegant twist. The new space black color, a subtle yet noticeable change, gives it a sleek and modern feel. This color, however, can appear lighter under certain lighting conditions. Apple has also color-matched the MagSafe cables to the device, a minor but thoughtful detail that adds to the overall aesthetic appeal.

Display and Audio

When it comes to display, the M3 Pro slightly edges out its predecessor with a higher brightness level of 600 nits compared to the M2 Pro’s 500 nits in standard dynamic range (SDR). However, the M3 Pro’s audio output is slightly quieter than the M2 Pro, which might be a consideration for audiophiles or professionals relying on in-built speakers for their work.

Webcam and Microphones

Both models boast a 1080p webcam and studio-quality microphones, but the M3 Pro steps up with a new image signal processor. The differences, though subtle, are more noticeable in specific lighting and recording conditions, offering a slight edge in video conferencing or content creation scenarios.

Internal Hardware Differences

Under the hood, the M3 Pro features a larger heat block, potentially enhancing thermal dissipation. However, it scales back on the number of NAND memory channels, impacting its maximum RAM capacity. This change might affect users who rely on heavy multitasking or run memory-intensive applications.

Performance Tests

Performance is where the M3 Pro shines. Tests encompassing SSD speed, Geekbench scores, graphics performance, and real-world application usage (like in Logic Pro, Lightroom, and Blender) show that the M3 Pro generally offers improved performance. This boost is particularly evident in tasks that leverage its new architecture and efficiency cores.

Battery Life

In terms of battery life, the M3 Pro stands out significantly. Its more efficient power management and additional efficiency cores contribute to a longer-lasting battery, a crucial factor for professionals and casual users alike.

Overall Assessment

Despite some downgrades, such as fewer performance and graphics cores in the base model, the M3 Pro MacBook marks improvements in processing speed, battery life, and thermal management. It’s particularly beneficial for specific professional tasks where these enhancements will be most appreciated.

Price and Value

The M3 Pro’s price tag is heftier than the M2 Pro’s. However, for users where performance is key, this cost may be justifiable. The M2 Pro, on the other hand, continues to be a solid choice, especially for those with less intensive usage or budget constraints.

Summary

The M3 Pro MacBook emerges as a robust offering from Apple, excelling in several domains and standing out as a top choice for professionals. Nevertheless, the M2 Pro still offers great value, particularly for users whose needs don’t align with the latest and greatest features. Your choice ultimately depends on your specific requirements and how much you’re willing to invest in performance upgrades.

Samsung One UI 6.0 vs One UI 5.0 (Video)

Samsung One UI 6.0

The world of smartphone technology is constantly evolving, with every update bringing a host of new features and improvements. Samsung, a leading player in this field, has recently introduced One UI 6.0, the latest version of its user interface. This video below delves into a detailed comparison between Samsung One UI 6.0 and its predecessor, One UI 5.0, highlighting the key differences and enhancements that users can expect.

Enhanced Display and Settings:

One UI 6.0 steps up the game with its enhanced display features. The “About Phone” section now showcases a larger image of the phone, reflecting the actual device color – a subtle but appreciated upgrade from One UI 5.0. Additionally, the battery settings are more accessible, directly from the main settings menu. This version also introduces a new system-wide default font, adding a fresh aesthetic touch to the interface.

Improved Weather App:

The weather app in One UI 6.0 has undergone significant improvements. It now displays a wider range of information, such as pressure, visibility, and sunrise to sunset times, in a more user-friendly manner. This is a step up from One UI 5.0, which had a more basic presentation of weather details.

Notifications Panel and Quick Toggles:

In One UI 6.0, the notifications panel features a new blurring effect and displays actual app icons next to notifications – a feature that was less dynamic in One UI 5.0. The quick toggles area is also more logically arranged with a unified look, offering additional settings options.

Music Control and Camera Enhancements:

The music control in the notifications area has been revamped in One UI 6.0, boasting a visually appealing design complete with album art, a notable upgrade from the previous version. The camera settings have been enriched with ‘Advanced Intelligence’ options for photo optimization and a repositioned scene optimizer.

Device Care and Storage Management:

Focusing on streamlined performance, One UI 6.0 enhances the device care section, particularly emphasizing battery settings. The storage area in this update offers smart recommendations for file management and introduces a new performance profile selection in the auto-optimization settings.

Gallery and Editing Tools:

One UI 6.0 brings significant upgrades to the gallery app, including a new standalone video editing tool, ‘Studio’, and advanced photo editing options like object eraser and style effects, which were not as sophisticated in One UI 5.0.

Connectivity and Security:

The introduction of ‘Connectivity Labs’ in One UI 6.0 offers advanced Wi-Fi settings, a feature not present in One UI 5.0. Furthermore, the security settings include an ‘Auto Blocker’ menu for enhanced protection, adding an extra layer of security against unauthorized USB commands and app installations.

Customizable Lock Screen and Widgets:

The lock screen in One UI 6.0 is more customizable, allowing users to move and resize the clock. This version also introduces new widgets, such as a customizable camera widget and expanded weather widgets – a step beyond the static widgets in One UI 5.0.

Camera Interface and Features:

The camera interface in One UI 6.0 has been updated with separate selections for aspect ratios and megapixels, improved fonts, and icons. New features include watermark positioning and swipe gestures for switching cameras, offering a more intuitive experience compared to One UI 5.0.

Gallery and File Management:

Enhancing file management, the gallery app in One UI 6.0 allows users to access deleted photos from the ‘My Files’ trash bin, making it easier to manage files across the device.

Conclusion:

Samsung’s One UI 6.0 is a significant step forward from One UI 5.0, offering enhanced display, improved app functionality, and advanced security features. These updates not only enhance the user experience but also demonstrate Samsung’s commitment to evolving its technology to meet user needs. For Samsung users, upgrading to One UI 6.0 promises a more intuitive, efficient, and secure smartphone experience.

M2 MacBook Air vs M3 MacBook Pro (video)

M2 MacBook Air vs M3 MacBook Pro

In the ever-evolving world of technology, Apple’s MacBook lineup continues to be at the forefront of innovation and performance. The introduction of the M3 MacBook Pro and the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip has sparked a new debate among tech enthusiasts: which of these cutting-edge machines offers the best value for money? The video below from Max Tech compares the key differences between these two models, focusing on various aspects such as price, design, connectivity, display, audio, performance, thermal management, and battery life.

Price and Storage

When it comes to price and storage, the M3 MacBook Pro stands at a higher price point compared to its M2 MacBook Air counterpart. The Pro model boasts a 512 GB SSD, offering more storage out of the box, while the Air starts with a 256 GB SSD. This difference in storage capacity and pricing makes the Pro a more expensive option, but with the added benefit of extra space for professional users.

Design and Portability

The design and portability of these devices cater to different user preferences. The MacBook Air is renowned for its lightweight and thin design, making it an ideal choice for users who prioritize portability. However, it’s worth noting that the Air’s midnight color variant is more prone to visible fingerprints. On the other hand, the MacBook Pro is slightly larger and heavier, a small trade-off for its enhanced features.

Connectivity and Ports

Connectivity is a crucial aspect for many users, and the Pro model excels in this area. It includes an HDMI port and an SD card slot, along with Thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack, offering greater versatility for connecting external devices. The Air, while still functional, offers fewer connectivity options.

Display and Audio

The display and audio features of the Pro model are a significant step up. It comes equipped with a mini LED display, offering higher brightness and the smoothness of a 120 Hz ProMotion technology. In contrast, the Air features a standard LCD panel. Additionally, the Pro’s speakers deliver superior sound quality, enhancing the overall multimedia experience.

Performance

Performance-wise, the M3 chip in the MacBook Pro outshines the M2 in the MacBook Air. This is evident in both CPU and GPU capabilities, where the Pro demonstrates a noticeable edge. Furthermore, the Pro’s SSD performance is enhanced by its dual NAND chips, contributing to faster data processing and retrieval.

Thermal Management

Thermal management is another area where the Pro model takes the lead. Its efficient fan and heat sink design allow for better heat dissipation, reducing the likelihood of thermal throttling. The fanless design of the Air, while sleek, can lead to more thermal constraints under heavy usage.

Battery Life

Both models boast commendable battery life, but the Pro edges out slightly in this aspect. This makes it a reliable choice for users who need a machine that can last through long work sessions or travel.

Summary

The choice between these two models largely depends on the user’s specific needs. For casual users who engage in activities like web browsing or light work, the MacBook Air is a sufficient and more budget-friendly option. However, for those requiring higher performance for tasks such as video editing, gaming, or professional work, the MacBook Pro is undoubtedly the better choice, despite its higher price tag.

In conclusion, the M3 MacBook Pro stands out with its superior performance, display, audio, and thermal management, making it the go-to option for power users. However, for those who are casual users or are more conscious of their budget, the M2 MacBook Air offers adequate performance at a significantly lower cost. Ultimately, the decision boils down to individual usage requirements and budget considerations.
