Vivo has launched its latest Android smartphone, the new Vivo V30 and the handset comes with a 6.78 inch AMOLED display which features a resolution of 2800 x 1260  pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 mobile processor and it comes with a range of RAM and storage options, including 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, 8GB of RASM and 256GB of storage, 12GB of RAM. and 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, there is no microSD card slot.

The new Vivo V30 smartphone comes with a range of cameras there is a single camera on the front of the handset and two cameras on the rear, on the back of the handset there is a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, on the front of the device there is a 50-megapixel camera for taking selfies and for making video calls.

The handset comes with a 5000 mAh battery and it features 80W fast charging which will charge the handset to 100 percent in just 48 minutes, there is also reverse charging and it will come in a range of colors. The handset is launching in a range of countries soon, as yet there are no details on how much it will retail for.

Apple iPhone tops smartphone sales chart in 2023

We previously heard that Apple sold more smartphones last year than Samsung and now a new report from Omdia has revealed more details about how many iPhones, Apple sold last year.

Global smartphone sales for the fourth quarter of 2023 reached 328 million units, which was apparently up some 8.6 percent over the same quarter in 2022, Apple sold a total of 78.7 iPhones in Q4 2023, an increase of 6.5 percent over the previous year, Samsung sold a total of 53.2 million. smartphones for the same period. According to the report, Sales of Samsung smartphones in Q4 of 2023 were down 9% over the same quarter in 2022

“The smartphone business in 2023 was determined by the products and regional markets each brand focuses on. While Apple, which concentrated on the premium market, recorded relatively good performance despite a decrease in overall market demand, the performance of major Chinese OEMs highly concentrated in the Chinese and Indian markets decreased significantly compared to the previous year due to the impact of the slump in smartphone demand in these two countries. Samsung, which has a high proportion of low- to mid-priced smartphones, also suffered a significant decline in shipments as its sales of mid- to low-priced smartphones were affected by the economic recession across the regions and was forced to give up its first place to Apple,” said Jusy Hong, Senior Research Manager, Omdia.

Apple sold a total of 232.6 million smartphones in 2023, compared to 225.3 million by Samsung, in third place was Xiaomi with 146.7 million sales. You can see the full report on global smartphone sales for 2023 over at the Omdia website at the link below.

The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile processor and it comes with a choice of RAM and storage options, these include 12GB of RAM and 1256GB of storage, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, or 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The device does not come with any expandable storage.

The new OnePlus Ace 3 comes with ColorOS 14 which is based on Google’s Android 14 OS the handset is equipped with a 5,500 mAh battery and it features 100W fast charging which can charge the device from 1 to 100 percent in just 27 minutes.

The device comes with a range of cameras there is a single camera on the front and three cameras on the rear. On the front of the handset, there is a 16-megapixel camera for taking selfies and for video chat. On the back of the handset, there is a 50-megapixel camera with a wide-angle lens, an 8-megapixel camera with an ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera.

The new OnePlus Ace 3 smartphone will come in a choice of three colors, Rose Gold, Blue and Black and it will retail for CNY 2,599 which is about $365 at the current exchnage rate.

On the rear of the handset, there is a 64-megapixel main camera with a wide-angle lens, there is also an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 2-megapixel depth camera, on the front of the handset there is a 50-megapixel camera that is designed for taking selfies and making video calls.

The vivo V30 Lite will come in a choice of two colors Black Forest and Rose Gold, the handset comes with Funtouc OS 13 which is based on Android 13. The device will retail for MXN 8,999 in Mexico which is about $350 at the current exchange rate. as yet there are no details on when the device will launch in more countries.
