Porsche Turbo models to get new look

Porsche Turbo models

Porsche has announced that it is planning to give its Turbo models a new look to further differentiate these models from other cars in their lineup. This will start with the new Porsche Panamera which is going to be made official on the 24th of November.

“In 1974, we presented the first turbocharged 911. Since then, the Turbo has become a synonym for our high-performance top models and is now more or less a brand of its own. We now want to make the Turbo even more visible, and differentiate it more markedly from other derivatives such as the GTS,” explains Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. “This is why we’ve developed a distinctive Turbo aesthetic. From now on, the Turbo versions will exhibit a consistent appearance across all model series – one that is elegant, high-quality and very special.”

The new Turbonite metallic tone is exclusively reserved for the Turbo models. Like all of our paints, this one was very carefully composed by the Porsche Colour & Trim experts. Gold elements create an elegant, metallising effect, with the top layer in a contrasting satin finish. The lettering on the rear and the Daylight Opening (DLO), as well as the borders of the side windows, will be given a Turbonite finish in the Turbo models in future. Depending on the model series, further details such as the inlays in the front aprons, the spokes, or the aeroblades in the light alloy wheels could feature Turbonite paintwork.

New Porsche Panamera interior revealed

Porsche Panamera

Porsche is getting ready to launch its next-generation Porsche Panamera and now we get to see what the car looks like inside with some official photos. The interior of the new Panamera has had a redesign and it now features displays on the passenger side as well as the driver side.

Porsche is going to make their next generation Panamera official on the 24th of November 2023, the new interior design has taken its inspiration from the Porsche Taycan electric vehicle.

The focus on the driver’s axis manifests itself in numerous details. For example, Porsche is placing the toggle switch for navigating through the options provided by the instrument cluster, and the mode switch for selecting the driving programmes, directly on the steering wheel. The gear selector lever is located directly next to it. This decision opens up space on the centre console for an elegant climate control panel that combines touch surfaces and physical switches into a solution that is as intuitive as it is elegant. New, completely finless and electrically adjustable air vents are installed in the centre console. It is possible to switch between several pre-configured and personalised climate control modes at the press of a button. In addition, the storage bin in the centre console offers more space than before.

Porsche GT4 e-Performance at the Laguna Seca Raceway

Porsche GT4 e-Performance

The Porsche GT4 e-Performance is an all-electric version of the Porsche Cayman 718 GT4, the car was unveiled last year and we previously saw a video of it in action at the Race of Champions in Sweden, and now we have another video of the car.

This time the car takes on the Laguna Seca Raceway at the Rennsport Reunion 7 and we get to see this electric-powered Cayman in action on the track, let’s find out how it performs.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 e-Performance stands as a prototype, paving the way for future innovations. Drawing parallels with the Mission R, this all-wheel-drive racing marvel utilizes the chassis derived from the well-established 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport model. Further accentuating its prowess, the electric motor and battery systems have been sourced directly from the IAA conceptual study.

When switched to qualification mode, this powerhouse can unleash an astonishing output of up to 735 kW (1,000 PS) or even beyond. During simulated race conditions, it consistently delivers a solid 450 kW (612 PS) for a span of 30 minutes, mirroring the duration typical of a Carrera Cup race. When assessed for lap times and peak speeds, the 718 Cayman GT4 e-Performance confidently matches the benchmarks set by the contemporary 992-generation 911 GT3 Cup.

Porsche 911 Dakar goes off road in Australia (Video)

Porsche 911 Dakar

Porsche is celebrating 60- years of the 911 this year and what better way to celebrate than in the Porsche 911 Dakar, off-road in Australia, we also get to see the new Porsche 11 GT3 RS in action on the track with Mark Webber and Stéphane Ortelli.

The Porsche 911 Dakar was unveiled in November of 2022 and the car is limited to just 2,500 cars worldwide, it took its design inspiration from the Porsche 911 used by Porsche in the 19784 Paris-Dakar Rally.

Upon a closer examination of the Porsche 911 Dakar, one can’t help but be immediately captivated by its noteworthy ground clearance. This feature stands a significant 50 millimetres taller when compared to the 911 Carrera equipped with a sports suspension setup. Adding to its versatility, the car comes with a standard lift system, enabling both the front and rear sections to be elevated by an additional 30 millimetres. Impressively, its ground clearance and ramp angle measurements are on par with what one would typically expect from traditional SUVs.

But the lift system’s functionality doesn’t end there. It’s not just a tool for carefully navigating over hurdles, but it plays a pivotal role in the reconfigured chassis dynamics. When one is in the mood for a more adventurous off-road escapade, the ‘high level’ setting can be employed, permitting speeds reaching up to a swift 170 km/h. However, for safety and optimal performance, once the vehicle surpasses this speed threshold, it intuitively reverts to its default height setting.

A closer look at the 911 Dakar reveals a series of distinguishing attributes that set it apart. At the forefront is its innovatively crafted, stationary rear spoiler, meticulously constructed from lightweight CFRP. Complementing this is the front luggage compartment lid, also made from CFRP, which boasts distinct air outlets, a design cue borrowed from the esteemed 911 GT3.

But the 911 Dakar’s unique design elements don’t stop there. It incorporates quintessential off-road features, including the striking red aluminium towing lugs, strategically positioned at both the front and rear. Additionally, the car showcases expanded wheel wells and sills, lending it a more rugged appearance. For added durability and aesthetics, stainless steel protective components adorn the front, rear, and side sills.

Lastly, the car’s reimagined front end stands out, not just for its aesthetic appeal but also for its functionality. The side air intakes have been fortified with stainless steel grilles, offering protection against potential damage from flying debris and rocks during spirited drives.
