Porsche GT4 e-Performance has 1,008 PS

Porsche GT4 e-Performance

Porsche has revealed some more details and performance figures about the Porsche GT4 e-Performance, the car comes with an impressive 1,008 PS (994 HP) and a 0 to 200 km/h time of just 5.6 seconds.

The Porsche GT4 e-Performance is an all-electric version of the Porsche Cayman 718 GT4, we previously saw some videos of it in action, and from what we have seen so far thios is an impressive race car.

Especially when they unleash so much power. “1,088 PS – from zero to 200 km/h in 5.6 seconds, you’re already at 100 in 2.3 seconds. I think those numbers say everything.” Almost everything – the rest is for Klaus Bachler to tell us, the man who works inside this prototype.

What is the biggest difference when compared to the Porsche combustion engine? “That’s clear – the performance. It is phenomenal. And then there’s this responsiveness. Of course, the electric motor emerges from a low engine speed immediately, it has an extremely high drag torque. With all this power combined with all-wheel drive – you also have to adjust your driving style.”

So we asked the pilot more on the style. How do you drive this electric machine? “You have to make a clear distinction here. Are you doing a timed lap at maximum power, i.e. with all 1,088 PS – or is it a race? On a qualifying run with that much power, it’s important to get the car straight as quickly as possible – it has to already be at the apex to really accelerate. You always get a good lap time at the exit. In other words, the time before the car turns into the curve has to be as low as possible.”

BMW M4 GT4

BMW has revealed that its BMW M4 GT4 race car has had an impressive first year in 2023, the car ended up with 180 podium finishes in its first year and this includes more than 70 class victories.

BMW has revealed that they will be producing an extra 50 units of the car due to high demand for it for race teams and they are also working on a new EVO Version of the BMW M4 GT4.

BMW M Motorsport teams celebrated victories and titles with the BMW M4 GT4 in Germany, Europe, Asia, and North America. The pleasingly long list of major successes includes: the SP10 class victory for FK Performance Motorsport at the 24h Nürburgring (GER), the SP10 overall victory in the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS), the title win in the GT4 European Series for Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport, the title wins for Turner Motorsport in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, the title win for Auto Technic Racing in the GT4 America, and the title win in the GT4 Asia for YZ Racing with BMW Team Studie.

“What a debut year for the new BMW M4 GT4! We were confident enough before the season to assume that we could continue the successes of its predecessor with this car, but the large number of victories and title wins that our teams and drivers were able to achieve right away was even a positive surprise for us,” said Björn Lellmann, Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport. “However, we are not settling on these successes. Due to the high demand, we are currently producing 50 additional units of the BMW M4 GT4, which will be delivered to our customers in 2024. In addition, we have decided to develop an EVO version of the BMW M4 GT4 after the BMW M4 GT3. The goal is to make an already very strong car even better with the help of our customers’ feedback.”

You can find out more details about the BMW M4 GT4 race car over at BMEW’s website at the link below, it will be interesting to see how the car performs in the 2024 racing season.

Porsche GT4 e-Performance at the Laguna Seca Raceway

Porsche GT4 e-Performance

The Porsche GT4 e-Performance is an all-electric version of the Porsche Cayman 718 GT4, the car was unveiled last year and we previously saw a video of it in action at the Race of Champions in Sweden, and now we have another video of the car.

This time the car takes on the Laguna Seca Raceway at the Rennsport Reunion 7 and we get to see this electric-powered Cayman in action on the track, let’s find out how it performs.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 e-Performance stands as a prototype, paving the way for future innovations. Drawing parallels with the Mission R, this all-wheel-drive racing marvel utilizes the chassis derived from the well-established 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport model. Further accentuating its prowess, the electric motor and battery systems have been sourced directly from the IAA conceptual study.

When switched to qualification mode, this powerhouse can unleash an astonishing output of up to 735 kW (1,000 PS) or even beyond. During simulated race conditions, it consistently delivers a solid 450 kW (612 PS) for a span of 30 minutes, mirroring the duration typical of a Carrera Cup race. When assessed for lap times and peak speeds, the 718 Cayman GT4 e-Performance confidently matches the benchmarks set by the contemporary 992-generation 911 GT3 Cup.
