What’s new in iOS 17.2 beta 1 (Video)

iOS 17.2 beta 1

Apple recently released iOS 17.2 beta 1 to developers, they also released watchOS 10.2 beta 1, macOS Sonoma 14.2 beta 1, and iPadOS 17.2 beta 1 at the same time. So far these new betas have been made available to developers, we are also expecting them to be made available to public beta testers in the future.

Now we have a video from Brandon Butch that gives us a look at the iOS 17.2 beta 1 and we get to find out what new features and changes Apple has included in the latest beta release.

As we can see from the video, there are a number of new features included in the iOS 17.2 software, this includes Contact Key Verification in messaging, updates for Apple Music, the new Journal app, and more.

One of the standout additions in this update is the Journal app. This isn’t just another note-taking application; it goes a step further by using on-device intelligence to provide journaling suggestions. Imagine this: you’re back from a trip, and the app suggests you jot down your experiences, influenced by the photos you’ve taken or the music you’ve been listening to. The Journal app aims to make reflective writing more interactive and personalized.

Initially previewed in December of last year, the Contact Key Verification feature has made its way into this update. This functionality enables you to manually verify your contacts when messaging by comparing unique verification codes. It’s another layer of security that complements the end-to-end encryption Apple already provides.

We are expecting Apple to release their IOS 17.2 software sometime in November, as soon as we get some details on when the update will land, we will let you know.

Midjourney new website design – phase one now available in beta

Midjourney rolls out phase one of its new website design

Midjourney, the well-known AI art generation system and  independent research lab, has announced the rollout of phase 1 of its new website design making it available on a beta subdomain for users to check out. This initial phase focuses on enhancing the user experience in searching, browsing, and viewing images. However, it has also sparked some debate due to the absence of certain features and the removal of others. As a Midjourney user, one of the best features in phase one for me is the ability to search through all your AI generated images much more quickly than previously. Simply use your mouse wheel to scroll through thumbnails of all your images from the creation of your account to today.

The new website design exhibits a few minor changes, including the introduction of light and dark modes. This feature allows users to switch between different visual themes to suit their personal preferences or environmental conditions. One of the major changes in this phase is the absence of image generation features. While this has been a staple in Midjourney’s offerings, the company has chosen to exclude it in this initial phase. Although  Midjourney artists can expect this feature to be included in the upcoming releases, along with organization features such as collections.

The redesign also sees the removal of the hot, top, and rising pages. These popular features provided users with a quick way to discover trending content. The removal of these features is a surprising move, and users have been quick to voice their concerns.

Another significant change is in the way images are displayed and the options associated with them. Clicking on images now brings up a new ‘lightbox’ mode, which users can quickly scrub through with scrolling or arrow keys. Further clicking on an image while in ‘lightbox’ mode puts users in an ‘immersive’ view where they see the images and nothing else. This change aims to provide a more focused viewing experience.

The rating page has also been updated with a quick selection feature. Users can now press the 1,2,3,4 keys to rate images quickly while scrubbing through their own images. This new feature aims to streamline the process of rating and sorting images.

In addition to these changes, the new design includes external links to the Discord server, billing support, and documentation pages. While these links provide easy access to additional resources, some users have noted an overall decrease in website features with each update.

To learn more about the latest Midjourney website redesign features check out the video below kindly created by AI digital artist Thaeyne. Explaining more about what has been added and taken away and what you can expect to be made available in the near future

Midjourney phase 1 website design overview

The new search feature has also received mixed reviews. Personal search is now done inside the user’s own browser, providing instant results. However, some users have critiqued this feature due to the absence of a model and version filter for images.

Similarly, the removal of image size display and the parent-child chain of images has been met with mixed reactions. While some users appreciate the cleaner design, others miss the detailed information these features provided.

The rollout of phase 1 of Midjourney’s new website design brings a fresh look and feel to the platform. However, the absence of certain features and the removal of others have raised questions about the company’s direction. As this is only the first phase of the redesign, it will be interesting to see how Midjourney addresses these concerns in the upcoming updates.

What’s new in Samsung One UI 6.0 Beta 8

One UI 6.0 Beta 8

Samsung has rolled out its latest One UI 6.0 Beta 8 update for the Galaxy S23 series, and it’s all about stability and subtle improvements. While many users might be on the lookout for flashy new features, this update takes a different route. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s new and improved in Samsung’s One UI 6.0 Beta 8.

First things first, this update is specifically for One UI version 6.0 and comes with a moderate size of 466 MB. It also includes the October 1st security patch, ensuring that your device is up-to-date with the latest security measures.

If you’re expecting a plethora of new features, you might be slightly disappointed. The primary focus of this update is to enhance the software’s stability. The system now operates more smoothly and reliably, making it a significant step towards the stable release of One UI 6.0.

Given the focus on stability, it’s safe to speculate that the stable release is just around the corner. The presenter in the source video anticipates that the stable version should be out within a week or so, making this update a crucial milestone towards the final release.

One of the subtle yet noticeable improvements is in the animations. Whether you’re launching apps or navigating through folders, the animations in this beta version are smoother than ever before. It’s a small change but one that enhances the overall user experience.

The update also brings minor adjustments to the user interface. For instance, a separate “Battery” section has been added under the “Display” settings. This makes it easier for users to access battery-related settings without having to dig deep into the menu.

While the update is a step in the right direction, it’s not without its flaws. A bug was identified where a clock widget was not displaying as it should. It’s a minor issue but one that Samsung will likely address in the final stable release.

Last but not least, what was previously known as “Battery and Device Care” has been renamed to simply “Device Care.” However, rest assured that you can still access all the battery-related settings from this section.

Samsung’s One UI 6.0 Beta 8 for the Galaxy S23 series is a stability-focused update that brings minor improvements and sets the stage for a stable release. While it may not introduce new features, it refines the existing ones and fixes some bugs, making it a worthwhile update for those looking to get the most out of their Samsung Galaxy S23. As yet there are no details on exactly when the new One UI 6.0 will be released to everyone, as soon as we get some more details, we will let you know.
