Tesla Malaysia has removed the Model Y Long Range AWD from its online configurator, leaving buyers with one less option if they’re looking for a dual-motor all-wheel drive electric SUV. This comes after Tesla discontinued the Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD variant back in April.
At the time of writing, the only dual-motor AWD Model Y you can order in Malaysia is the new six-seater Tesla Model Y L which is priced from RM260,000.
Meanwhile, buyers who prioritise driving range over outright performance can still opt for the single-motor Model Y Long Range RWD.
Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD is no longer available on configurator
As spotted this morning, the 5-seater Model Y Long Range AWD can no longer be configured as a new factory order through Tesla Malaysia’s website. Prior to this, the Model Y Long AWD Premium is priced from RM242,450 before options.
For customers who still want the discontinued variant, there is still some good news. Tesla Malaysia continues to list several inventory units that are available for immediate purchase, while stocks last.

Based on the current inventory listing, the remaining stocks start from RM247,450 for a unit with the white exterior colour option Meanwhile, the most expensive available unit is listed at RM268,450, featuring Quicksilver paint, a Zen Grey interior and the larger 20-inch Helix 2.0 wheels.
Model Y Long Range RWD is now the only five-seater long-range option

For buyers looking for maximum range, the only remaining choice is the Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD.
Priced from RM216,450, the single-motor version offers a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 691km, which is 62km more than the discontinued dual-motor AWD variant.
With a single motor, this variant isn’t as powerful as the dual-motor unit. The Model Y Long Range RWD has a 0-100km/h time of 5.6 seconds, compared with 4.8 seconds for the dual-motor Long Range AWD.
There are also a couple of equipment differences. Unlike the AWD version, the Long Range RWD is not available with the optional 20-inch wheels and comes with a 9-speaker audio system instead of the 15-speaker setup with a subwoofer.
Want AWD? Your only option is the six-seater Model Y L

With the removal of the five-seater Long Range AWD, buyers who still want dual-motor all-wheel drive will now have to step up to the six-seater Tesla Model Y L.
This effectively simplifies Tesla Malaysia’s Model Y lineup, with the Long Range RWD serving buyers who want the longest possible range, while the Model Y L becomes the only AWD offering for customers who need additional traction and seating capacity.
So far, there’s no indication if Tesla Malaysia will introduce the Tesla Model Y Performance or the cheaper Standard Model Y RWD “Rahmah” variant.
However, we’re hearing that Tesla could revise its pricing in Malaysia within the next couple of weeks. As always, we’ll update once there’s an official announcement.
