The Flexi Parking system is operational again after being crippled for the past few days by a cyberattack. The operational status was confirmed through Flexi Parking’s official social media pages as well as affiliated products such as Smart Selangor Parking and Sabah Smart Parking.
Developed by Leading Innovative Technologies and Systems (LITS), the Flexi Parking system is one of the most prominent digital parking systems among local authorities in Malaysia. According to the Chairman of Selangor Local Government and Tourism Committee, Ng Suee Lim, 64 local authorities are using the Flexi Parking system.
While Suee Lim said that the system was hacked, LiTS so far has yet to confirm or deny the cyberattack on the Flexi Parking system. Technical analyses of the cyberattack have since been published by cybersecurity firm Gothchaa Lab and local cybersecurity expert Muhammad Johar Jaafar “Najoe”.
Teething issues may persist

Even though Flexi Parking is already operational once again, users may experience some issues using the system. LiTS has released a statement on Flexi Parking’s social media pages asking users to contact the company if they encounter them:
We are currently receiving a high volume of messages regarding app-related enquiries and issues reported by some users.
Our team is reviewing the feedback received and will assist users accordingly based on the information provided. Please be assured that every message received is not being ignored and is being reviewed progressively based on the required checking.
To help us with further checking, please contact us via private message and provide the following details:
- Registered phone number

Judging from the comments on Flexi Parking social media pages, it appears that most of the issues revolve around payment, including missing credits and users’ inability to top up funds into their account. However, it is likely to take some time for these issues to be resolved since Flexi Parking has noted in the statement that the team have to check each issue individually.
