Gentari enables AutoCharge for all users: Just plug in to start charging

Posted on

Gentari has opened up the AutoCharge feature to all Gentari Go users. This feature was previously made exclusive to users who subscribed to Gentari Go subscription passes.

Originally introduced in 2024 through the now-defunct Power Pass, the AutoCharge feature allows you to charge your EV or PHEV simply by plugging in at a supported Gentari DC charger. The charging authorisation and payment happen in the background, which you can still monitor through the Gentari Go app.

According to Gentari, the AutoCharge feature is currently supported at more than 100 Gentari DC charging locations nationwide and will continue to expand over time. You can check out the list of the AutoCharge-enabled chargers by tapping on the AutoCharge icon on Gentari Go’s home screen.

To mark the occasion, Gentari is offering RM10 Go Credits for the first 500 users that completes their first AutoCharge session.

Here’s how to activate Gentari AutoCharge

To utilise the AutoCharge feature, users must first enrol their EV in the system. Here’s a general step-by-step guide:

  1. Start a charging session with the Gentari Go app at a Gentari DC charger that supports AutoCharge
  2. Look out for the Enroll for AutoCharge banner that will appear on the charging status page
  3. Tap on the Enroll AutoCharge button
  4. Select your EV and preferred payment method
  5. Agree with all the terms
  6. Press the Confirm Enrollment button

You can enable AutoCharge for multiple EVs and PHEVs in a single account by repeating the steps above with each vehicle.

EV and PHEV that can support Gentari AutoCharge

Do note that not all EVs and PHEVs can support Gentari’s AutoCharge feature. As a reference, here’s the list of supported models as of 1 July 2026 according to this FAQ document on Gentari Go’s website:

Go Points now have expiry date, charging discounts cost double the points

On a related note, Gentari has also made some changes to the Gentari Go Rewards section by implementing expiry dates on the Go Points. Any Go Points that were obtained before 30 June 2026 remain valid until 31 December 2026, while Go Points earned from 1 July 2026 onwards have a validity period of 180 days from the date they were obtained.

In addition to that, charging discount redemption now requires twice as many points as before. For example, it now costs 400 points to redeem a RM20 discount for charging, while the required points previously were only 200 points for the same RM20 discount.

At the same time, we also noticed new additions to the Partner Rewards list in Gentari Go’s Rewards section, including Grab, Foodpanda, Shopee, Watson, Family Mart, and many more. During our quick check yesterday, the only partner in the list was Dunkin Donuts.

Meanwhile, Gentari Go users are also now required to verify their mobile number if they want to utilise Gentari Go Credits as a payment method. Mobile number verification can be done via the Sign in Methods setting inside the Me section of the Gentari Go app.

The company said this was done as an additional layer of protection for the built-in wallet, although users can still use other payment methods in Gentari Go without verifying their mobile number.
