More than 100 electric vehicles (EV) gathered at Sepang International Circuit on the 6th June 2026 for the SoyaCincau x Dongfeng Pop-Up EV Clinic: Track Edition 2026, making it our biggest EV track event yet.
Following the success of Malaysia’s first public EV track day last year, this year’s event saw an even larger turnout of EV owners and enthusiasts coming together for an evening of driving, learning and community.
Unlike a conventional track day filled with the roar of engines and exhaust notes, the atmosphere at Sepang was uniquely different.
With more than 100 EVs going around the circuit, the sounds of tyres working hard through corners and electric motors accelerating down the straights replaced the usual soundtrack of combustion-powered machines.
Parade Lap lets families experience Sepang together
The evening began with the Parade Lap session, where EV owners had the opportunity to drive around Sepang International Circuit at a comfortable pace while taking in the atmosphere of Malaysia’s premier racing venue.
Leading the convoy were the Dongfeng 007 and Dongfeng Vigo, setting the pace for a diverse mix of EVs that followed behind.
Unlike a typical track day, the Parade Lap was designed to be family-friendly. Many participants brought along their spouses, children and family members, giving them a rare opportunity to experience a lap around Sepang International Circuit from the passenger seat.
For many young passengers, it was their first time on a racing circuit.
From family EVs to high-performance EVs
The variety of EVs on display reflected the diversity of Malaysia’s EV landscape. Alongside popular models such as the Tesla Model 3, Proton e.MAS 5, Proton e.MAS 7, BYD Atto 3, BYD Dolphin and BYD Seal, participants also brought performance-focused EVs as well.
These included the Porsche Taycan Turbo, Audi RS e-tron GT, Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric, Tesla Model 3 Performance, Smart #3 Brabus, Zeekr 7X Performance and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
We also welcomed unique and fun oriented EVs such as the iCaur V23 and iCaur 03, alongside the Mini Cooper JCW Electric and Mini Cooper SE.
Large family movers were equally represented, with owners bringing larger seven-seater MPVs such as the Denza D9 and XPeng X9.
Track sessions continued until midnight
Following the Parade Lap, the track sessions continued well into the night. The cooler evening temperatures not only provides a more comfortable environment for participants but it also helps to optimise EV performance and thermal management.
The track sessions provided owners with a safe and controlled environment to explore the capabilities of their EVs away from public roads. Whether it was their first track experience or they were seasoned enthusiasts chasing faster lap times, participants had the opportunity to understand their EV capabilities better while enjoying one of the world’s most iconic circuits.
For many EV owners, it was their first time bringing their vehicles onto a race track. The event provided them the rare opportunity to experience hard acceleration, high-speed cornering and braking in a controlled environment without worrying about traffic, road hazards or speed limits.
To make the experience more accessible and enjoyable, participants were also allowed to bring along a second driver at no additional charge. This enabled family members and friends to share the driving experience at Sepang.
New EV lap record set at Sepang
The event also saw a new benchmark established for EV performance at Sepang International Circuit.
Ee Shedden, driving the Exotic Mods Tesla Model 3 Performance, set a new fastest lap time of 2:27.790. He beaten his previous record of 2:34.344 that was set during our inaugural EV track day last year.
The new record shaved more than six seconds off the previous benchmark and further demonstrated the impressive performance potential of modern EVs on track.

Seeing more than 100 EVs gather at Sepang International Circuit is a strong reminder of how quickly the local EV community continues to grow. What started with around 30 EVs at our inaugural public EV track day last year has now expanded into one of the largest EV community gatherings at Sepang.
