TNG eWallet is no longer just about QR payments and Touch ’n Go card reloads.

TNG Digital says it has reached a new milestone where non-payment businesses now contribute more than half of its total revenue, reflecting how Malaysians are increasingly using the platform for financial services, travel, rewards and lifestyle services.

The company says this marks a significant shift from its original role as a payment utility into what it describes as an “everyday digital companion”.

Today, TNG eWallet serves more than 26 million verified users, with 13.5 million Malaysians actively using the app every month.

According to TNG Digital, active users on average engage with the platform twice a day. The company added that cross-border, remittance and international services now contribute 10% of total revenue, up from virtually no contribution just a few years ago.

Meanwhile, revenue from business-to-business (B2B) offerings, including advertising, digital infrastructure services and merchant value-added services, contributes 6% of total revenue.

According to TNG Digital, the growth has been driven by increasing adoption of services beyond payments, including financial services, travel, remittance, merchant solutions and advertising.

Interestingly, toll payments only contribute single digit to its revenue.

TNG eWallet gets a redesigned homepage

Alongside the business update, TNG Digital has announced a redesign of the TNG eWallet app. The refreshed experience starting with the homepage will be rolling out to TNG eWallet users starting today.

The company says the new homepage is built around a search-first experience, allowing users to access services and features without navigating through multiple layers of menus.

The four key shortcuts at the top bar of the homepage now features the following hubs:

  • GOFinance: Financial services
  • Near Me: Discovering nearby food and beverage deals
  • Bills: Utility and recurring bill payments
  • Transport: Commuting and travel-related services

TNG Digital has also simplified the bottom navigation bar and reorganised it around frequently used features, with a focus on easier one-handed operation.

According to TNG Digital CEO Alan Ni, the changes reflect how Malaysians are increasingly relying on the platform beyond payments.

TNG Digital CEO Alan Ni said, “TNG eWallet is no longer just a payment app. Malaysians are using us to manage different parts of their everyday lives, from growing their money and travelling overseas to paying bills and earning rewards.”

He added that more than half of the company’s revenue now comes from businesses beyond payments and that its ambition is to become an everyday digital companion that makes Malaysians’ lives easier.”

TNG Digital Chief Product and Growth Officer Chiew Wei Wing said, “Over the years, TNG eWallet has expanded far beyond payments. The new experience brings our ecosystem together in one place, making everyday services easier to discover and use.”

He shared that in practice, the homepage is where users can search, tap on hubs that take you directly to services you need, and a nagivation bar that’s designed so you have never have to stretch your thumb. Its goal is to create a platform that feels like it already knows how you live.

According to TNG Digital, the redesign is only the beginning, with more updates and improvements planned for the app in the future. It believes that the next phase will be shaped not just by payments but how seamlessly financial services, commerce, travel and lifestyle experiences come together in a single ecosystem.
